Work Area TO AVOID RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY, EQUIPMENT DAMAGE, FIRE AND SHOCK, MAKE SURE YOUR WORK AREA IS: Free of damp, wet or rainy conditions. Free of children (never let them handle tools or machinery). Well-lit. Clean and uncluttered. Before Operating Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Before operating your Shear-Press-Slip Roll, check for damaged parts. You should also: Keep Guards in place and in working order. Make certain that adjusting keys and wrenches are removed from the tool prior to turning it on. Always feed your workpiece into the machine from the front. Assembly Your Shear, Press, 52” Slip Roll requires slight assembly as indicated below. To assist you with assembly and operation please refer to the Assembly Diagram and Parts List located on pages 6 and 7. Lay out all parts onto a clear section of your floor or workbench prior to assembly. Caution! Consider the weight of the components and take the necessary precautions when lifting. Assistance may be required during assembly. Step 1)

Before assembling the machine, clean off any protective grease located on the machine.

Step 2)

At the bottom of the Right Wall (5) and the Left Wall (1) are located two holes, four holes total. Attach the machine to your work bench by inserting a bolt through each of these holes and into your work bench.

Step 3)

If not fully attached, screw the two Handle Knobs (26) (Figure 1-A) into each of the Handles (18 & 59). For assistance please refer to Figure 1 below.

Step 4)

Set the Short Handle (18) into the groove in the Eccentric Shaft (35). Place the Cover (7) over the Handle, and then tighten the entire assembly in place by screwing in the two Hex Bolts (38). Insert the Hex Screw (39) into the Washer (29) and then into the center hole in the Cover. Tighten to secure the Handle in place (please see Figure 1 on the previous page for clarification).

Note:

The Handles can slide along the groove and be adjusted so that all of the Handle is pulled up to one side. This allows for additional torque when shearing or pressing.

Step 5)

Repeat for the Long Handle (59). Line the Handles up as well as possible.

Operation When operating your Shear-Press-Slip Roll, it will be helpful to refer to the Parts List and Assembly Diagram on pages 6 and 7 of this manual. Never force the tool or attachment to do the work of a larger industrial tool. It is designed to do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended. Before using your actual workpiece, practice each application of the tool with a couple pieces of scrap metal. This will allow you to become more familiar with each application, as well as assuring a more precise final product. Using the Upper Braking Die The Upper Braking Die (12) contains nine different Die sizes (1”, 1-1/2”, 2”, 2-1/2”, 4”, 7”, 9”, 10”,15”). These can be used together to form one long size, or you can use the die size or combination which best fits your need. Your workpiece can be pressed to a 45 degree or 90 degree angle. Step 1)

Choose the Upper Braking Die (12) (Figure 2-A) size which best fits your needs. Remove the Hex Screws (51) (Figure 2-B) which will allow you to remove the other die which are not being used.

Step 2)

Turn the Handle counterclockwise to raise the Upper Braking Die (12). Insert your workpiece under the Braking Die.

Step 3) Shear

Turn the Handle to move the Braking Die down against the workpiece. Pressure on the workpiece will cause it to bend. As you increase the pressure, the angle of the bend on your workpiece will increase. Pressing the workpiece full pressure using the Handle(s) will produce a 90 degree angle in the workpiece.

Step 1)

Move the Pressing Plate(10) up and insert your metal workpiece. If necessary loosen the Hex Bolt (54) in the Press Plate Bracket (8) and move the Pressing Plate (10). (See Figure 2-C).

Step 2)

Once your workpiece is inserted, turn the Handle to force the cutters into the workpiece. This will cut your workpiece for you.

Step 2) Step 3)

Once the Upper Pressing Roll (32) moved into position, tighten the Pressing Roll Lock (34). Feeding from the front of the machine, feed your workpiece into the Pressing Rolls. Turn the Handle clockwise to feed the workpiece into the machine. if there is any question about a condition being safe or unsafe, do not operate the tool.
