Three-Hour Workshops Lattice Weave Hand Dyed Wool Mat #901W Description: Using hand dyed strips of wool, you will create a lattice weave mat measuring approximately 16” x 8”. The mat will be finished with a simple wool binding and several decoration options will be demonstrated. Kit is offered in 3 color options: Option 1: Midnight blues Option 2: Fall colors (yellows, oranges, browns) Option 3: Multi-color Make It / Take It Skill Level: No experience required. Kit fee - $16. Includes base fabric, hand dyed wool stips for weaving, backing fabric, wool fabric for binding, needle thread. Available for purchase: Additional hand-dyed wool strips; pearl cotton thread for optional decoration. Supplies students should bring: Stapler and staples; sewing scissors Instructor: Mary Flanagan Mary Flanagan started Mary Flanagan Woolens in 2000, offering high quality woolens for textile crafts. Mary has been designing in a number of capacities for the past 30 years, and that love of textiles, especially wool, has led to creating and selling a wide variety of textile art.

Snowman Ornament #902W Description: Come make a quillie snowman ornament. He is constructed of wool fabric, cut into strips, rolled and applied. His smile will brighten your Christmas tree! Make It / Take It Skill Level: No experience required. Kit fee - $10. Includes everything needed to complete the ornament Supplies list: Small scissors Instructor: Joyce Krueger has been sewing and doing some type of needlework since childhood. As an adult, working with wool is her passion - using wool for hooking, braiding, knitting, prodding, embroidery and embellishment. Joyce is known as an expert on rug hooking and has won many awards statewide and nationally.

Starting a Wool Sampler #905W Description: In this class you will have the opportunity to learn 4 to 5 embroidery stitches and use them in different ways and directions. Experience a variety of threads, and learn their properties and applications. Add dimension and character with unusual fibers. Learn how to add beads to stitches. The result will be a frame-worthy specimen of your stitching and embroidery skills – a personal glossary of stitches and embellishments. Make It / Take It Skill Level: Experience with wool applique and/or embroidery is recommended. Kit – fee $20. Includes hand dyed felted wool for sampler background and appliques. Various threads, beads and trims for embellishments. Recommended needles. Supplies students must bring: Basic sewing kit including embroidery scissors. A pencil and paper for note taking. Students may also bring any threads and embellishments of their own to incorporate into the project. Instructor: Sue Wojciechowski As a quilter with a knack for applique and embroidery, Sue has loved colorful textiles and carefully curated embellishments. Over time, she developed an intense appreciation for working with wool. Inspiration led to innovative fusion and Sue designed her first pattern for wool applique and embroidery. Ewe-niversity, Inc. was born. Today Sue designs patterns and teaches – sharing anything and everything she knows about wool!

Wool Coiled Bowl #904W Description: This hands-on class will teach participants how to make coiled fabric bowls with wool. In a few hours, make a wonderful bowl from 1” wide strips of wool fabric. The bowls will be secured around cording and then hand-stitched. The small bowl will be approximately 5” by 5” and 2” deep. Make It / Take It Skill Level: No experience required. Kit fee - $25. Includes instructions, cording, tapestry needle size 18, fabric glue stick, wool fabric cut in 1” strips, 2 DMC Perle Cotton threads, 1 button to embellish Supplies list: Fabric scissors, needle threader (a 3-in-1 or 2-in-1 with medium threader) Instructor: After a 25-year career in marketing, public relations and communications, Linda Sweek has had the good fortune of pursuing her passion of textile and mixed media art – starting her own business, Linda Sweek Designs. Linda also teaches workshops and is the cofounder and host of Sew & Sew Retreats. She has been privileged to exhibit her work in several juried art shows and her work is sold in numerous galleries and gift shops. Linda has also studied textile and folk art in the US, Mexico and Europe as well as exploring art at 22 museums throughout the world.

Wool Quillie Christmas Tree #903W Description: Using a Styrofoam form, build a Christmas tree with wool quillies! There will be a variety of colorful wools from which to select and create your unique Christmas tree. Make It / Take It Skill Level: Beginner - no experience required Kit fee - $25. Includes Styrofoam form, wool strips to make quillies, needle, thread, straight pins, embellishments. Option to purchase: PKJ Quiller Maker for $5.00. Supplies students should bring: Small fabric scissors and needle nose pliers Instructor: Pam Schmuelzle Pam has been doing needle work since she was a very young age. Her grandmother and mother were needle workers and passed on their knowledge and skills. Pam is a certified McGown Rug Hooking Teacher and teaches at many workshops in the Midwest. She also Likes to braid and knit.
