Monitor • Verwendeter Monitor: – VGA analog 15", EIZO F550i-W, 1280 x 1024 Pixel – DVI TFT 18", Fujitsu Siemens E18-1, 1280 x 1024 Pixel Verfahren: • Auflösung 1024 x 768 Pixel, 24 Bit Farbtiefe. • Nach der Installation fährt Linux mit einem analogen VGA-Monitor und mit DVI-Monitor hoch, ohne irgendwelche Einstellungen zu ändern.

Hinweis Da GRUB nicht bootet und dmraid Alphasoftware ist, empfehlen wir, dmraid nicht zu verwenden. • Verwendung von dmraid geschieht auf eigenes Risiko. • Wir empfehlen, RAID im BIOS-Setup zu deaktivieren (Advanced - SATA/PATA Configuration - RAID support) und stattdessen die Linux-Software RAID zu verwenden.

Monitor • Used monitor: – VGA analog 15", EIZO F550i-W, 1280 x 1024 pixel – DVI TFT 18", Fujitsu Siemens E18-1, 1280 x 1024 pixel Procedure: • Resolutions 800x600 and 1280x1024 pixels, 24 bit color depth. • After installation Linux starts with analog VGA monitor as well as with DVI monitor without changing any settings.

Network adapters • There are two VIA VT6105 (Rhine-III) adapters on motherboard. • Each adapter works fine with DHCP enabled as well as with fixed IP-addresses. • Accessibility test were done with apache http server and samba server installed and enabled.

RAID SUSE Linux version 9.3 (2.6. kernel) supports ICH6R option ROM software RAID with dmraid.

Note Because GRUB does not boot and dmraid is alpha software, we advise not to use dmraid. • If you use dmraid, you will do it on your own risk. • We advise you to disable RAID in BIOS setup (Advanced - SATA/PATA Configuration RAID support) and use Linux software RAID instead.

CompactFlash Card • Used USB Flash Card: SanDisk 256 MB CompactFlash at PATA (IDE) controller Procedure: • Shutdown Linux and switch power off. • Insert CompactFlash card. • Switch power on again. • During start up Linux detects the CompactFlash card and mounts it automatically, as device /dev/hda. • Do not remove the Compact Flash while Linux is running. • Shutdown Linux and switch off the Siemens SIMATIC Box PC 627, before removing the Compact Flash card.

Serial port • Used program: minicom - ASCII file transfer Procedure: • Use minicom -s for setup: parameter 57600 8N1 • The serial port is accessible as /dev/ttyS0.
