The public session of the Property Management Committee meeting was held at 5:15 p.m. in Room 200 at the Aurora Education Centre on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 with Committee Chair D. Giangrande presiding and the following trustee members present: P. Adams-Luchowski, L. Carruthers, C. Chan (via audio conference), A. DeBartolo, N. Elgie, J. Hertz, J. Nathan and M. Van Beek. DECLARATION OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST Committee Chair D. Giangrande asked any trustee who has a direct or indirect pecuniary interest in any matter being discussed during the meeting to state their conflict and the nature thereof. That the Director of Planning for the Town of Newmarket be advised of this action. (*)2. The proposed plans are located within the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Plan area. The Plan establishes the land use policies and urban design guidelines for future development and investments in this new community. It is anticipated that build-out of the Plan will occur over several decades. The Board has designated three elementary school sites to serve future development from this area. RATIONALE: A.

Glen Shields Public School is a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 School with a functional capacity of 537 and an October 31, 2011 enrolment of 478 (FTE). The subject lands are currently occupied by employment and industrial uses spanning over three existing properties. Due to these considerations, it is expected that development will not occur until post 2014. Staff will review accommodation in the family of schools when pace of development in the area is clearer to ensure appropriate student accommodation is available. Secondary Current Attendance Area At the secondary panel, the plan is located within the Vaughan Secondary School attendance area. Vaughan Secondary School has a functional capacity of 1,066 and an October 31, 2011 enrolment of 1,053 (FTE).

The proposed Zoning By-law amendment and draft plan of subdivision have been submitted for a residential development consisting of townhomes and future medium density units. The subject development takes access off Lawford Road and is directly across from proposed driveway access into the Unnamed Vaughan Vellore Secondary School scheduled to open in 2014. 10. YORK REGION DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD SCHEDULES NEW ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS ADDITIONS TO SCHOOLS AND REPLACEMENT SCHOOLS 2012 to 2014
BACKGROUND: This is a regularly scheduled report that is taken to the Property Management Committee on the status of all new elementary and secondary schools projects. RATIONALE: The schedules for the 2012 to 2014 New Elementary Schools, 2012 to 2013 schedules for additions to schools, 2014 New Secondary School, and the 2014 New Elementary Schools are presented in this report as shown in Appendices A, B, C and D. ESTIMATED COST: The total estimated project cost for each of these new elementary and secondary schools will be presented to the Property Management Committee after the tendering of each project. Funding for these projects will be generated by the capital funding model. TIMELINE: Timelines are contingent on receiving required approvals and permits from all authorities having jurisdiction prior to construction start dates.
