Instructions for Installing and Configuring Wink Hardware & Software for On-Site Technicians The technician’s job is to ensure that the store’s network and hardware are working properly. The technician must read and apply 100% of all instructions described below. The technician must test all equipment and network before leaving the store. The technician must call WINK when he is finished doing everything described below so that WINK can confirm that everything was done properly. That call must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Failure to do any of the above may result in additional and unnecessary customer/technical support charges to the customer. Work to do Video Support: Go to www.downloadwink.com and click on Videos . Your employer has provided you with a work order. Barring instructions to the contrary, typical installation includes: 

Technician supplied: Batteries for wireless keyboards and mice Wiring: Ethernet cabling / Extension cords / Power Bars ...

Security

Make sure that “Microsoft Security Essentials” is installed and activated. Install Anti-Virus software on the computers immediately! We recommend Kaspersky or Avast. If you are using Norton AntiVirus, then you should expect WINK to be VERY SLOW. If it did not already come packaged with any of the above software, then install SpyWare protection. We recommend “SuperAntiSpyware” (www.superantispyware.com). Be mindful of performance limitations which may result from “over-securing” PC’s.

Connect hardware:

HP Proliant Server: Should be installed in back-store. Recommend UPS to customer. PC/Mac: Do not rely primarily on WiFi for internet. Connect via Ethernet Keyboard + Mouse: Connect via USB 2.0 or 3.0 Laser Printer(s) + Extra Drawer: Connect to router to enable TCP-IP printing. Label Printer: Connect via USB 2.0. Set ribbon tension to “1/2”. Slide both sensors to “-10” position (left of zero). Load Ribbon and Tags in Label Printer as per videos on page 2. Barcode Scanner(s): Connect via RS-232 or USB 2.0 Cash Drawer / Card Reader / Electronic Signature Pad: Connect via USB 2.0 Check Reader: Connect to PC via USB 2.0, or connect to terminal via RS-232 Payment Terminal: (Make sure the power plug is in the “lock” position. Connect as back-up via phone line. Primary connection however should be via Ethernet. Then, if customer does not have a check reader, connect terminal to PC via Serial-USB cable. Finally, mount the terminal on swivel-head if provided).

Test all hardware:

HP Server: PC/Mac: Laser Printer:

Testing can only be done by WINK staff via RDC. We await your call. Test wired and wireless internet, printing and basic usage on all PC’s Default is tray 3, but confirm ability to print from “all” trays. Barring information to the contrary, all pc’s should be able to print to all laser printers in the store. Label Printer: Testing can only be done by WINK staff via RDC. We await your call. Barcode Scanners: Open “Notepad”, scan any barcode, it should appear in the page POS Equipment: (Cash Drawer / Card Reader / Signature Pad): Testing to be done by WINK via RDC. We await your call. Payment Terminal - Basic: Contact EVO support to test under normal circumstances. Payment Terminal - Advanced: Contact WINK support to test printing of a WINK document.

System Settings: 1. Make sure that the PC’s Date, Time and Time Zone are set correctly. Do all Microsoft / Adobe / Other updates. Finally, uninstall any unnecessary shrink-wrapped software, which could negatively impact system performance. 2. Resolution: Optimal is 1366x764. Alternatively, use the monitor’s native resolution. 3. Personalization: Set to “Windows Classic Theme” (Minimal impact on performance due to screen graphics). 4. Avoid software that will slow the system down unnecessarily (Norton Antivirus) 5. Keep minimal items on the desktop. Ideally less than 3 icons including WINK icon. 6. Primary concerns are “Security” and “Performance”. Use best judgment.

Hardware to Affix to the Monitor: 1. If the customer has requested that a “Card Reader” be mounted onto his monitor(s), then we highly recommend screwing / gluing / or double-sided taping the monitor(s) to the table top, in case the monitor is too top-heavy. This is to the client’s discretion. This is especially important if the monitor(s) are less than 19” wide. 2. At the client’s discretion, both the “Small form factor PC” and the “Card Reader” can be mounted directly to the desktop (or beneath it). This is very common and recommended usage, especially if the monitor cannot accommodate the device(s) being mounted onto it. Please use mounting brackets and follow instructions provided with each of those devices. We recommend that the HP PC’s be mounted under the desk.

Wireless Hotspot: Please configure all PC’s to be able to connect to the store owner’s cellular phone via 3G/4G Wireless Hotspot to access the internet. This is a back-up solution in the event that the store loses it’s “wired” internet connection. So if the store’s internet should ever go down, all the store owner will have to do is turn on the Wireless Hotspot option on his phone, then turn on the WIFI on his PC’s, and he will be back up and running. Please configure the store owner’s phone to be able to do this, and please configure all computers with appropriate usernames and passwords. Finally, please provide the store owner with “WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS” explaining how to switch to Wireless Hotspot to access the internet, in the event that he ever loses his Ethernet internet connection. (Send an email with step-by-step bullet points).

Other Software: You must install MS Security Essentials + Antivirus + Anti-Spyware (recommend SuperAntiSpyware) + Adobe Reader + PDF Creator. At the client’s discretion, we also recommend the MS Office Suite. Under no circumstances should you install any toolbars or any advertiser supported software. When installing Anti-Virus / Spyware protection, beware of effects on system performance. These are business machines. Do not install any “garbage” on them. Advise the client on best practices to avoid installing garbage off the internet on these machines (ex: avoid Torrents).

Other:

Credentials: Provide the store owner with a written list of all Usernames and all Passwords. (PC’s / Wifi / Router / ISP…). Please provide at least 2 copies of this document (one in hand and one electronically) Recommend a web-based password management system for secure yet easily accessible storage of passwords. We recommend “Password Box” (www.passwordbox.com).

Email Account: (Gmail) 1. Create a new email account as follows: “[email protected]”. If the store already has a Gmail account that they would like to integrate with WINK, then you do not need to create a new one. 2. IMPORTANT SETTINGS: Login to the user’s Gmail account >>  Click on the user’s profile icon (top right of the window) >> Click on “My Account” >> Connected Apps and Sites >> Under “Allow Less Secure Apps”, slide the ruler to the “ON” position >> It should auto-save (please confirm) >> Close the webpage.  Click on the Gear icon (top right of the window) >> Settings >> Select: Conversation View Off  On the Settings page >> Forwarding POP/IMAP >> enable both POP and IMAP (only if client has requested integration with 3rd party mail client like MS Outlook).  Write down the user’s email settings if they are different from the ones described below:

MS Outlook: Transfer emails from old PC’s, test new email accounts, create generic signatures Other Data: Transfer all files from old PC’s to new PC’s (if applicable)

If the store owns it’s own internet domain, then you are welcome to create email addresses for that domain instead of doing so via Gmail as suggested above. Having said that, it is your responsibility to enter the data in Wink in such a way as to complete the setup process (Click on Stores >> Double Click on the desired Location >> Click on the tabs in the pics above >> enter your data >> test). Please note, if you choose a supplier other than Gmail, Wink will not assist you in determining what the settings required for integration with WINK are. That is the technician’s responsibility. Every email provider and every environment is different. It is the technician’s responsibility to figure out which settings are required for the selected email provider. WINK recommends Gmail because it’s free, robust, easy to use, and for the most part, the settings are in the pics above.

Router: Minimum system requirement for wired Ethernet is 10/100 Network Interface Card and router, and an 802.11ac card and router for wireless users. (Please make sure all PC’s are connected via Ethernet. Please make sure all PC’s can also connect via cell-phone based WIFI hotspot in case of momentary loss of internet). A less advanced router will work most of the time, but will often drop packets. Wink technicians cannot be onsite at customer premises, and so cannot troubleshoot internet connection problems without charging the customer a premium. Many customer’s don’t realize that most consumer grade routers on the market are simply not designed for commercial use. If the router is more than 2 years old, or if the router is not an 802.11n model or greater, then please insist that the customer replace his router. Please visit the router manufacturer’s website and apply any recommended firmware updates that are required for the router. How to test a router: http:// msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh998875.aspx Do an Internet Speed Test (www.speedtest.net). Minimum is 5Mbps (down), and 1Mbps (up). If the user has less, let them know that their internet connection does not meet Wink minimum system requirements, and that Wink requires a much faster internet connection. Ideal speed is 20 down, and 10 up. More is obviously better. Now that you have finished installing and testing all IT equipment in the store, go to www.downloadwink.com >> Free Download >> Follow your on-screen instructions. This should only be done after all hardware has been installed, connected and tested for functionality. In other words, please resolve all internet, power and printing problems before installing WINK software. Make sure to test all PC’s, terminals and printers. If you have any recommendations to make to improve the customer’s IT infrastructure, please do so to the client directly. Please also provide Wink with those recommendations in writing, ESPECIALLY if they are designed to make the store’s IT infrastructure more secure. Customer’s are not IT specialists. They rely on you to give them advice to help them run their business in a secure and effective manner. Every environment is different. This document was an attempt to provide the clearest instructions possible given our experience with a typical EyeCare environment. If you’ve implemented any special solutions, please document your work and provide a copy to your employer, the store owner and WINK.

Installing & Configuring Laser Printers WINK prints invoices/worksheets on Custom Perforated Paper. This paper can also be cut in two so as to permit printing on “half-letter” sized sheets. Clients have the choice of operating with a three-tray printer, operating with three distinct printers, or only using one printer and manually switching from one type of paper to the next as required. Please note, effective April 2015, the default driver which automatically installs on computers connected to an HP LaserJet Pro 400 printer, seems to be missing a key component which facilitates “multi-tray management”. To counter this deficiency, WINK recommends deleting the HP LaserJet Pro printer from “Devices and Printers” (assuming it was already installed), then rebooting the computer, then installing the new HP driver for this printer directly via HP’s website located at: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html.

We are unable to confirm whether the step described above is still required or not. Nevertheless, if it is still required, you will have to do it on every computer/server connected to this HP LaserJet Printer. Assuming the store has purchased WINK perforated paper, and that store’s laser printer is configured with two (2) trays for paper, and a manual feeder (often referred to as a tray as well) then the following actions must be taken: 

Hardware: 1. Install the additional printer tray (Instructions are provided in the box). 2. Connect the printer to the computer either via USB or TCP/IP connection as preferred by the client. 3. Click on Start -> Devices and Printers -> Right click on printer in question -> Printer Properties -> Device Settings -> Set “Tray 3” to be “Installed”. 4. Print a test page to ensure “normal” functionality. 5. Please ensure that you can print word docs from the manual feeder (tray 1), top tray (tray 2), and bottom tray (tray 3), at will. 6. By the time you are done going through these instructions, the printer should “default” to tray 3 (bottom tray) for all standard everyday printed docs (word/excel/notepad…)

Paper: Create New Paper Type 1. Click Start 2. Click on Devices and Printers (Windows10 users: type Devices and Printers >> then select it) 3. Right-click on default printer (WINK supports the Laserjet Pro 400) 4. Select Printing Preferences 5. Click on the “Custom” button directly beneath the “Paper Size” drop down list 6. In the field for “Name”, type “WINK Half Letter” 7. In the field for “Width” type “5.5” 8. In the field for “Length”, type “8.5” 9. Make sure that the “Inches” radial button is selected 10. Click OK

Software: Installing the additional tray (to be done on every computer individually) 1. Click Start 2. Click on Devices and Printers (Windows10 users: type Devices and Printers >> then select it) 3. Right-click on default printer (WINK supports the Laserjet Pro 400) 4. Select printer properties 5. Click on “Device Settings” tab 6. Under “Installable Options” click on Tray 3 “Not Installed”. 7. Select “Install” from the drop down list, and click OK . 8. Under “Form to Tray Assignment”, individually click on all paper types, and select as follows:  Printer Auto-Select: Whatever client wants (Ex: Letter)  Manual Feed Tray 1: Whatever client wants (Ex: Letter)  Tray 1: WINK Half Letter  Tray 2: Letter  Tray 3: Whatever paper client “usually” prints on (Ex: Letter/A4/Legal...)

Configuring your HP Laserjet Pro 400 If the client is not using an “HP Laserjet Pro”, then you may have to search for instructions, or contact the manufacturer, to determine how to accomplish the tasks below. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

On the printer itself, in the control panel, Click OK Scroll to “System Setup”, click OK Scroll to “Paper Setup”, click OK Scroll to “Tray 1”, click OK Configure your trays as follows: Tray 1: Type = Any | Size = Any Tray 2: Type = Any | Size = Letter Tray 3: Type = Plain | Size = Letter

Load the Printer with Paper 1. 2. 3.

Launch WINK 1. 2. 3. 4.

Cut special WINK paper in half along the perforations, and place it in tray 1 (manual feeder) Put special WINK perforated paper in tray 2 (top tray) Put regular everyday paper in tray 3 (bottom tray)

Login Click on Settings >> Printers and Trays You must now tell WINK to which printer, which tray and which orientation to print every document. For a video of how to do this, click on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l5gdskqjAA

Test the printer 1. 2. 3.

Print a regular MS Word/Notepad document. It should print automatically from the paper in tray 3 (bottom tray) Via WINK, print a worksheet/invoice. It should print automatically from paper in tray 2 (top tray). Via the Wink application, print a worksheet on half letter. It should print automatically from paper in tray 1 (manual feeder).

NB: It has been noted with printers from other manufacturers including Lexmark, that Microsoft office documents tends to have a preference for printing from the top tray (tray 2) instead of the bottom tray (tray 3). Even after a change to settings is saved, the system reverts to default unexpectedly. If you come across a situation like this, don’t fight it. Simply adjust the instructions above to suit that reality. In other words, load regular everyday paper in the top tray (tray 2) , put WINK perforated paper in the bottom tray (tray 3), and inform the store owner and WINK of this change to instructions. If the client is using a multi-tray printer other than the LaserJet Pro 400, then it is the technician’s responsibility to configure it properly. WINK cannot provide instructions for every printer on the market, but instructions are available via the manufacturer’s websites, or by calling the manufacturer’s directly. Please note, instead of using a multi-tray printer, the customer may prefer to use multiple-printers.
