Mission Statement River City Towing Services, Inc. is dedicated to providing quality service to its customers with consistent delivery of cargoes entrusted to our care in a safe, responsible, environmentally sound and cost-effective manner. We commit to maintaining a posture which will create long term profitability and provide security for our employees and owners. We remain aware of the value of our employees to the success of the company and commit to providing a work environment which allows full utilization of their talents and includes recognition in proportion to their contributions.

Quality Policy We are committed to understanding the requirements of our customers for their marine transportation services and to conforming to their requirements without error. We are committed individually and as a company to fully understand the requirements of our jobs, and to satisfy these requirements by doing the right tasks, the right way, the first time, without exception. Our focus is on prevention of errors rather than the correction of defects so that quality becomes a way of life.

Safety Policy It is the policy of RCT to conduct all operations safely so that personal injury and property damage are prevented. All practical precautions must be taken by all personnel at all times to maintain a safe, healthful work environment. Adequate protective equipment shall be used by all personnel to minimize hazards and avoid injury. The effectiveness of our Safety Program is visible by our outstanding safety record.

Environmental Policy Protection of the environment is of extreme importance. During transfer operations, utmost care must be taken to avoid spills. RCT is dedicated to the objective of “ZERO SPILLS” and subscribes to the American Waterways Operators recommendations applicable to the barge business. Our transfer process incorporates every precaution to prevent spills into the water. Achieving and maintaining a record of “ZERO SPILLS” is possible. Significant effort is expended on equipment maintenance to help assure this objective. Less than full commitment on the part of any RCT employee or contract employee will not be tolerated. Our industry is bound by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90), the primary law now in effect for spills occurring in the United States and its territorial waters. A wide array of topics related to oil spill preventions, response and liability are addressed in this law. Although OPA 90 applies only to oil and petroleum based products, RCT policy is to report all spills, regardless of product or quantity. Prevention is the key! Any condition, which potentially could result in a spill or leak, must be immediately corrected. Our equipment is checked on a regular basis for these conditions. All steps in the transfer process, especially hook-ups and connections, are closely monitored to prevent spills. Drip pans and/or spill rails are utilized on every transfer. Contractors are charged with using environmentally sound procedures while working on our equipment, and in disposal of any slop product. In the unlikely event of a spill, immediate action is taken to minimize the environmental impact and to make the required notifications. Detailed activities relating to environmental protection and clean-up are contained in the RCT Oil Spill Response Plan. RCT is in compliance with the EPA NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) and practices the American Waterways Operator’s Recommendations for Best Management Practices to Control and Reduce Inadvertent Cargo Vapor Emissions on RCT tank barges. RCT requires that all contractors are in compliance with the actions outlined in this Best Management Practice.

Testimonials “I’ve worked with RCT for several years and found them highly instrumental in helping me solve barge equipment needs and solutions. They are an expert in barge equipment and have a firm understanding of marine logistics. I trust the information they share with me is reliable and consistently accurate.” Distribution Manager, Major Chemical Company, Texas “RCT’s barge location updates are the best in the industry and their people are a pleasure to work with!” Don Martin, Assistant Manager, Saybolt LP, Port Neches TX “As a corporation, we had utilized for decades a private truck fleet which served our supply chain needs well. With the success of this fleet we began investigating other logistics venue’s where we could replicate this success. The inland marine area was a natural fit for continued success in this area. After extensive cost and operational analysis we determined it was much more effective to build our relationship with River City Towing than to embark on our own marine operation. River City had all the necessary parameters in place we were looking for…..extensive industry experience…..competitive economics…..relationships with our customers…..and a “can do” attitude. It was an easy decision for River City Towing to become the “private marine carrier” we were looking for! “ Distribution Manager, Alabama “RCT has been a reliable provider of barge logistics. They keep us well informed on their barge status which helped ensure smooth operations at our plant.” Chemical Plant Feedstock Coordinator, Louisiana
