RATIONALE:

The 2010 AAU West Texas National Qualifiers meet has been designed to place an emphasis on promoting the sport of track and field in Texas and surrounding areas.

QUALIFYING:

The top 4 finishers in each event will qualify to the National AAU Junior Olympic Games in Norfolk, VA. on July 31 – Aug 7. Registration and declaration is at www.coacho.com, by July 22, 2010. No entries will be accepted after midnight EST. Athletes and Clubs with a 2010 AAU Athletics Membership are eligible to compete in ONE National Qualifiers Meet. Other qualification meets are the AAU Club Championships in Orlando, FL and the AAU West Coast Games in Reno, NV.

AWARDS:

Top four (4) place finishers in each event will receive medals. Awards can be picked up at the awards tent approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the event. Medals will not be mailed home. It is the responsibility of the competitor, coach or parent to pick up awards before leaving meet.

AGE DIVISIONS:

Individual and Multi-Event Age Determination Athletes must have a copy of their birth certificate available for age verification when requested. The athlete's year of birth shall determine the age division in which he/she will compete for individual events: AGE GROUPS

* No Multi-Event competition for Primary Age Groups **Athletes who are still eighteen (18) years of age through the final day of the AAU Junior Olympic Games (August 7, 2010) will be eligible to compete.

ENTRY DEADLINE:

The online entry deadline is Tuesday, June 29, 2010, 11:59pm Central Standard Time.

Online entry can ONLY be done at – www.coacho.com Online registration will NOT be reopened after closing time. Therefore, you must make all final changes and pay before closing time on Tuesday night at 11:59 pm. Revisions to the roster and events can be made online before the registration deadline. You cannot exchange one athlete for another. There will be “NO” exceptions to this rule. The person who registers the athlete assumes all responsibility for what is entered online. Once the performance list is posted, any questions must be directed to Meet Director, Connie Pardue before 4:00 PM June 30, 2010.

ENTRY FEE:

Multi-Events - $25.00 Track & Field Events - $25.00 ALL FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Entry fees are per athlete, no substitutions allowed after submission. All athlete entries must be made online. VISA & MasterCard accepted. RELAY TEAMS There is no additional entry fee for relay events as long as the following criteria is met: 1) All competitors as well as alternates have paid the individual entry fee of $25.00. 2) The relay team represents a current 2010 AAU registered club. 3) All competitors must have current AAU membership

ELIGIBILITY:

All athletes who have “COMPETED” in any District Meet are eligible to compete at the West Texas AAU National Qualifiers Track & Field Meet in an event that was entered at the District Level. Relay teams entered must have competed at the District Level. All relay member guidelines will be enforced as stated in the 2010 AAU Athletics Handbook. Athletes competing in the Multi-Events, Steeplechase and Pole Vault are “EXEMPT” from previously competing in a District Meet competition to be eligible to compete at this National Qualifiers Meet. AAU Track & Field athletes and clubs are only eligible to compete in ONE National Qualifiers Meet.

AAU All athletes and coaches must be able to present their 2010 AAU membership cards MEMBERSHIP: at time of check-in. All relay teams and clubs/teams must present current 2010 Club Membership at check-in. EVENT All competitors in the Primary, Sub-Bantam, Bantam, Sub-Midget and Midget LIMITATIONS: age divisions will be limited to a maximum of (3) three events per competitor, including relays but excluding multi-events (No multi-events in the Primary Age Division). All competitors in the Sub-Youth, Youth, Intermediate and Young Women/Men age divisions will be limited to a maximum of (4) four events per competitor, including relays but excluding multi-events. RELAY Relays will compete as the following age groups: AGE GROUPS: Primary 4x100 M Relay only Bantam (SB-B) 4x100, 4x400 only Midget (SM-M)

JUNIOR OLYMPIC REGISTRATION: Qualifiers for the National Junior Olympic Games in Norfolk, VA must declare and register for the meet at CoachO.com by July 22, 2010. No entries will be accepted after Midnight EST (11:00 CST) Do not jeopardize you athlete’s chance of competing by not completing this step for the National JO’s.

MEDICAL:

Medical Personnel will be provided by ACU Sports Medicine. You must bring your own tape. Ice and water will be provided for injury situations.

FLUIDS:

Meet management will do it’s best to try and provide water in certain competition areas. It is strongly recommended that athletes, teams, coaches, and spectators have fluids with them. A concession stand will be available at the stadium.

TRACK & FIELD VENUE INFORMATION TENTS:

Tents will be allowed only on the top five (5) rows of the stadium or in the North and East grassy areas. Any tents left up after each day of competition are done so at the owner’s responsibility and risk. Meet management will not be responsible. Athletes are allowed to bring large umbrellas into the field event venues.

SPECTATOR TICKETS:

Admission: $5/day – No charge for children 10 /under. Athletes and coaches will be admitted, without charge, with a 2010 AAU Membership Card. AAU Memberships will NOT be sold at the meet.

BIB NUMBERS:

Competition bib numbers will be issued at packet pickup. All athletes are required to wear their bib numbers on the front of their competition singlets, upon event check in and during competition. There is a ten ($10) replacement fee for lost bib numbers, which may be purchased at the Registration/Awards Tent.

IMPLEMENTS: Meet management will not be supplying implements for use at this event. Athletes MUST bring their own implements to use during competition, and personal implements are required to be weighed in prior to reporting to the event site. Implement weigh-in will occur under the west stands. .Implements will be impounded and delivered to the event area, and will be returned to the athletes after competition.

PROTESTS:

Protests concerning the status or eligibility of any competitor must be made to the AAU Youth Athletics Committee prior to the commencement of the meet, or the Referee during the meet. Protests relating to matters which develop during the conduct of the meet must be made to the Referee and be filed at once, but in any case not more than 30 minutes after the result has been announced. Protests MUST be filed on official protest forms and presented to the Protest Table. The Referee shall consider all available official evidence. When the Referee renders his/her decision, there is still the right of appeal to the Jury of Appeals, accompanied by a cash deposit of $75.00. The jury’s decision is final. If the protest is denied, the cash deposit will be forfeited. PROTESTS CONCERNING JUDGMENT CALLS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Multi-Event athletes must report 30 minutes prior to their event, and their order of field events may be altered according to available venues. Pole Vaulters will need to be weighed and poles verified before competition.

Day 2 events for the Decathlon will begin Saturday with the Open 110 M Hurdles, approximately 9:15 AM, and events for the Heptathlon will begin at 10:30 AM, before the Open Field Events. The Multi-Event Referee will coordinate with the open events to accommodate the multi-event athletes.

Schedule of Events Saturday, July 3, 2010 Running events will start at the designated time. After that, it will be a rolling time schedule. Athletes must listen to announcements and check in at the designated clerking area for their event at least 20 minutes early. Any athlete that does not check in before their scheduled heat is run will not be allowed to compete. Age groups will be combined by gender in races with 4 or less. 7:30 AM 8:00 AM
