BECOMING A MEMBER The following process, which is consistent with the health and fitness standards of the American College of Sports Medicine, helps us ensure your safety and provide you with optimal benefits from your membership.

Consult with a Wellness Team member for catheter and ostomy issues. Please remove any Band-Aids, corn pads or other similar items as these may clog pool drains.

Step One—Complete application, including integration tracking sheet, health history questionnaire, physician clearance form & liability waiver.

The Therapy Pool may not be used by children under the age of 12 due to developmental and health reasons. It is also not recommended for those with heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure or circulatory conditions, skin infections or a tendency to faint or become dizzy.

Step Two—Schedule an orientation/training session with a Wellness Team member to learn about our programs and equipment. This takes approximately 30-40 minutes.

Rescue equipment is to be used by Wellness Team members only. Wellness Team members must supervise use of the lifts for entering/exiting the pool.

The Wellness Team offers personal training packages for more specific goal-oriented training. Please inquire with a Wellness Team Member for more information about our personal training programs.

In the event of an electrical storm, fire or other emergency, please vacate the pool immediately. The pool may not be re-occupied until 30 minutes after a storm has passed. Locker Room/Changing Rooms Please avoid or limit bringing valuables to the Wellness Center. CKV is not responsible for loss or damage of any personal items from any areas of the center. You may use a padlock on a locker, but lockers are for day use only; please do not leave possessions or locks on lockers overnight. Three of the changing rooms have showers. All of the showers are wheelchair accessible, have shower chairs and curtains for privacy.

The pools may not be used unless a Wellness Team member is present for your safety and others. No food or drink (other than bottled water) is allowed in the Aquatic Center. No gum or glass containers are permitted. For the safety of all users, we do not allow the following in the pool area: running; diving; hard-heeled shoes, pushing, excessive splashing or rough play. Please do not use the pool if you have open sores, a contagious disease or any condition that might harm others. Consult with a Wellness Team member prior to entering the pool if you are unsure. Swim briefs are required for urinary incontinence (please do not use either pool if you have a urinary tract infection)

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES General Considerations The Wellness Center is for use by Cross Keys Village villagers/residents, team members, age-qualified members of the general public who hold paid memberships, and guests (see details below). All must read, understand and agree to abide by these policies and procedures. Failure to do so may result in suspension or termination of membership. For your safety, please advise the Wellness Team if you use any emergency medications (nitroglycerine, inhalers), bring them with you and tell a team member where you keep them. If you experience any pain or discomfort, notify a Wellness Team member immediately. Courtesy, proper etiquette and language and consideration of other members are expected; failure to treat others as you would have them treat you is cause for suspension and/or termination of membership. Clothing should be appropriate for your activities. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and sneakers are recommended for the Cardio/Strength Room (no sandals, “flipflops” or other open-toed shoes). Jewelry is strongly discouraged. Bathing suits are required in the pool, and pool shoes are strongly recommended – much of the floor in the pool and on the deck is abrasive for traction.
