Living

Water 30/2014

FAITHFUL INSTRUCTION

There was a man who got lost in the desert. After wandering around for a long time his throat became very dry, about that time he saw a little shack in the distance. He made his way over to the shack and found a water pump with a small jug of water and a note. The note read: "pour all the water into the top of the pump to prime it, if you do this you will get all the water you need". Now the man had a choice to make, if he trusted the note and poured the water in and it worked he would have all the water he needed. If it didn't work he would still be thirsty and he might die. Or he could choose to drink the water in the jug and get immediate satisfaction, but it might not be enough and he still might die. After thinking about it the man decided to risk it. He poured the entire jug into the pump and began to work the handle. At first nothing happened and he got a little scared but he kept going and water started coming out. So much water came out he drank all he wanted, took a shower, and filled all the containers he could find. Because he was willing to give up momentary satisfaction, he got all the water he needed. Now the note also said: after you have finished, please refill the jug for the next traveller.” The man refilled the jug and added to the note: “ Please prime the pump, believe me it works”! We have the same choice to make, do we hold on to what we have because we don't believe there are better things in store for us, and settle for immediate satisfaction? Or do we trust God and give up all that we have to get what God has promised us? I think the choice is obvious. We need to pour in all the water, trust God with everything. Then once we have experienced what God has to offer, the living water, we need to tell other people, “Go ahead and prime the pump. Believe me, it works”! Have a glorious week ahead! Ven. A. G. Odubena Your Vicar & Your Friend

Day 210

These gifts brought by the first three wise men were of great help to Joseph and Mary financially. God used the three wise men to provide for the family of Jesus. This enabled them to be able to move to Egypt when Herod issued a decree to kill all male children two years old and under. Most families didn't just get up and move to a different country in those days because of the cost.

Wednesday 30th July, 2014

Most Bible scholars believe there were three wise men that visited the baby Jesus the night He was born, but there were actually four. We know about the three, one who brought gold, the other who brought frankincense, and the other who brought myrrh.

Day211

Celebrant: The Rev. Canon P. O. Agunbiade Epistle: Acts 1: 1-14 Gospel: Matthew 27: 45-54

There was a fourth wise man that came that night also bearing a gift to give to the new born baby, Jesus. We don't hear about him in scripture though because he was turned away along with his gift. What did he bring you might ask? A fruitcake!

Prayer Points 1. Thank God for divine expansion on Jaquar Int. Hotels. 2. Birthday Prayers for: Babamayowa Bayo-Solarin, Femi George, Segun George and Oluranti Owolabi. 12 noon: Hour of Divine Connection 5.00p.m.: Women's Prayer Fellowship

GENERAL NOTICES

EXHORTATION FOR THE YEAR 2014 Exhortation: “NEW BEGINNING” Response: “BEHOLD OLD THINGS HAVE PASSED AWAY.” 1. Greetings (a) Brethren, we welcome you into this Sanctuary today. We give thanks to God for His mercies on us in the past. As we come to meet the Lord in the year 2014, let us rededicate our lives anew to Jesus Christ. Each time we enter this sanctuary, give thanks to Him, invite His presence, pray to Him for revival from sin to righteousness. Let us pray that our coming will attract divine intervention in our lives. Jesus has said, Ask, and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. (Matt. 7:7&8). Have confidence in the promise of our Lord Jesus that if we ask for bread we shall not be given a stone or when you ask for a fish, you will not be given a serpent (Mt. 7:9). Trust the Lord for His goodness and mercy, come to Him with a clean heart and be sure IT IS WELL. Constantly pray the prayer of Jabez (see 1 Chronicles 4:910). God will bless you this year, He will enlarge your border, His hand will keep you from harm. Amen. b. We welcome and we greet all visitors and friends and all members of our Congregation today, Sunday 27th July, 2014. We pray that God will make this week a week of joy, success, breakthroughs, prosperity, protection, achievement, good health, grace, and direction of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus Name. Please kindly see the stewards or clergy for the membership form. 2. Theme For The Year 2014 NEW BEGINNING (Isaiah 43:19) “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” 3. GOD'S ASSURANCE FOR THE YEAR 2014 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:18-19) 4. PROPHETIC/MEMORY VERSE FOR JULY 2014 (Exodus 23:20) “Behold, I send an angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place which I have prepared.
