USSA Club Development Program

Club Certification Background to Club Certification: The process of certification is a partnership between the US Ski and Snowboard Association and the individual clubs. It should not be viewed as an "examination" but rather an effort by USSA to assist its clubs through assessing club leadership, operations, and athletic programming and performance. Through the process of club assessment, USSA can determine areas of need and essentially provide additional resources and teaching modules to the clubs. Any comments or suggestions made during a peer visitation or by the certification committee are offered constructively with the above in mind and should not be taken as criticism.

What is the Proforma and how does it relate to an assessment visit? The certification Proforma provides a summary for a peer-assessed inventory, evaluation and assessment of these important Club activities: 1. Leadership 2. Operations

3. Programming 4. Performance

What level of certification can a club achieve? 1. Certified Club 2. Bronze Club

3. Silver Club 4. Gold Club

The following Proforma should be completed at least 2 weeks before the time of visitation or interview and sent to: Walt Evans, USSA, 1 Victory Lane, Park City, UT 84060 or [email protected] The information provided in this Proforma, together with a copy of the "assessment" report will be reviewed by the Club Certification Committee. The decision to certify will be based upon the quality of the Proforma and the Assessment Report.

What is the difference between the different levels? 1. Certified Club: a certified club must demonstrate a minimum standard in key operational areas. 2. Gold, Silver and Bronze: A club must have the key leadership, operations, programming and performance standards in place which are outlined in the assessment Proforma. Athlete performance standards assist in differentiating the club's level.
