Group judging will immediately follow upon the completion of the breed judging for the specific group. All breeds within a group will be judged alphabetically; but is subject to change at the event committee’s discretion. The Club will determine order of groups. Best In Show Judges will be announced before Best In Show judging. Total Dog/Altered Total Dog and Total Junior offered: Friday, January 12; Saturday, January 13, & Sunday, January 14. To qualify, exhibitors need at least one conformation win with competition and one qualifying score/pass/pull/run from a performance event on the same day to qualify for Total Dog/Total Junior each day. Wins or qualifying scores do not carry over to the next day.

Special Exhibition Altered Total Dog. Dogs competing in Altered Conformation & a Performance event need at least one ALT. Conformation win and one Performance qualifier on the same day to qualify each day for Altered Total Dog. Wins or qualifying scores do not carry over to the next day.

PREMIER Total Dog Qualifier Any dog that earns a Total Dog at the 2018 California Classic will automatically be added to our Total Dog Groups at the 2018 UKC PREMIER Event. Classic qualifiers must enter at least one event at PREMIER and mark on their entry form that they are a Classic Total Dog Qualifier.

UKC Ring Procedure Judge Workshop: January 12, 2018 UKC will be hosting a Ring Procedure Workshop at Kern County Fairgrounds on Friday, January 12, 2018. The workshop will cover topics such as; • How to properly conduct an Apprentice. • Properly examining dogs on the floor vs dogs on a table. • How to wicket a dog and what to do when a wicket is called. • How to span a dog. • Variety breeds and paperwork. • DQ’s, Misconducts, Excusals, Eliminating Faults, and Award Withheld.

Registration will be limited to 50 people. Priority will be given to judges wishing to meet or maintain senior status and mentor apprentices. Unlimited audit spots available. Audits will not count toward UKC judges education requirements to meet or maintain senior status or for new applicants. Auditors will not be allowed inside the rings.

GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Building will be open to exhibitors at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Building will close at 10:00 p.m. on Friday or 30 minutes after the conclusion of Altered Best in Show, whichever comes later. 2. Building will be open to exhibitors at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Building will close at 6:00 p.m. on Saturdy and Sunday or 30 minutes after the conclusion of Altered Best in Show, whichever comes later. 3. Overnight security is not provided and no dog(s) may be left in the building overnight. 4. All times are Pacific Time. 5. There will be absolutely NO SMOKING in all buildings and designated areas. 6. No general admission or parking fees.

ENTRY INFORMATION ELIGIBILITY 1. Dogs must be permanently registered with UKC, have a Temporary Listing (TL) number, or have a Performance Listing (PL)/Limited Privilege (LP) listing number by the closing date and time to enter. No exceptions will be made. Entries for ineligible dogs will be returned. 2. An unentered dog may not be substituted for an entered dog. 3. Dogs must meet the eligibility requirements for the event which they are entering. For requirements, refer to the appropriate event rules and regulations.

ENTRY FEES PRE-ENTRY & PRE-ENTRY SPECIALS Pre-Entries must be submitted via UKC’s online entry system, mail, or fax. Pre-entries will be opened on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern time. All pre-entries must be received by UKC by Wednesday, December 20, 2017, 4:30 pm. Eastern time. No preentries will be accepted or processed after that time. Entries received after the Pre-Entry deadline date will be charged Day-of-Show fees. NO EXCEPTIONS! *Pre-Entry Fees 1. Conformation: $25; $120 special for same dog entered in all 6 shows. 2. Drag Racing: $25, $120 special for same dog entered in 6 races. 3. Obedience: $25, $60 special for same dog entered in all 3 trials. 4. ENTRY INFORMATION & FEES 1. Entries open Monday, November 27, 2017. Any entries received before that date will be returned. 2. Pre-Entry Deadline: Entries will be accepted at UKC until Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. (Eastern Time). Exhibitors wishing to enter into the show after the pre-entry deadline must do so at the show grounds. 3. Performance Events will close Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 4:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) OR when the numerical limit for the event has been reached, whichever comes first. After which time entries will not be accepted, substituted or cancelled. No wait list will be established. No substitutions. No exceptions will be made. Daily Performance entry limits are as follows; • 28 Obedience entries • 64 Rally Obedience entries • 70 Weight Pull entries 4. Each dog must be entered on a separate entry form. 5. No entries will be accepted with conditions placed on its acceptance. 6. Any entry missing required information or any faxed entry missing authorization for UKC to use the designated credit card for entry fees will not be processed or considered accepted. 7. Eligible Total Dog performance events are as follows: Drag Racing (regular stakes only), Obedience, Rally Obedience, and Weight Pull.

Please use the official UKC Entry Forms to enter and check the Total Dog box to ensure your dog is included in Total Dog. SUBMITTING ENTRIES 1. Entries may be submitted on the Official UKC Entry Forms included with this Premium List or on any current official UKC Entry form. Photocopies of these forms may be used. Entries for all events may be submitted online on the UKC official website: www.ukcdogs.com. 2. Entries will not be accepted from third parties or any other entry service.

3. Entry submission. 4. For online entry go to www.ukcdogs.com and click on the California Classic logo. 5. Receipt of online entries will be acknowledged within 3 business days but this does not constitute confirmation of a valid entry. 6. Mailed entries must include fees. Fax entries must include the following: • Cover sheet indicating the number of pages • The number of shows entered and the number of dogs entered per show, credit card number and expiration date (cardholder’s name and address must be included on EACH entry form). 10. Fax number: (269) 349-5590. A faxed entry must be received in UKC’s offices by the closing date and time and must be fully legible and complete for it to be accepted. We will not accept a faxed entry after the closing date and time based on a “Transmission OK” message in the possession of the owner. No exceptions. 11. Hand-delivered entries will be taken at the United Kennel Club offices. 12. Electronic confirmation of entries will be sent to the email address included on the entry form as soon as the entry has been accepted and processed. 13. One armband will be assigned to each entered dog for all event(s) in which the dog is entered for the weekend. Entry information will be printed on the back of the armband. Armbands will be made available for pick up at the event. PAYMENT FOR ENTRIES 1. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order or credit card. No entry will be accepted without payment. 2. Make checks and money orders payable to “United Kennel Club”. Checks and money orders must be payable in U.S. funds. 3. When paying by credit card, entry must include the card number and expiration date, as well as the printed cardholder’s name, address, daytime phone, and signature. Fax numbers and e-mail addresses should be included, when applicable. 4. Post-dated checks, returned checks and declined credit cards do not constitute valid entry fees. UKC will add a collection fee of $30 to the amount of each returned check or money order. Exhibitors who repeatedly submit invalid entry fees may be put on a cash only basis.

ENTRY CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS 1. Entry cancellations must be received in writing prior to the closing of pre-entries or before limits have been reached. Requests must include dog’s UKC number, breed, name, and event-type entered. Cancellations received by telephone will not be accepted. 2. No refund of entry fees will be made for entries cancelled after the pre-entry closing date and time, except in the cases of females that come into season and are entered in Drag Racing, Obedience, Rally Obedience, or Weight Pull. In those cases, refunds may be obtained by providing UKC with a veterinarian’s certificate verifying the female came into season after the closing date. The certificate may be mailed, provided the postmark is no later than the date prior to the day of the event, emailed to [email protected], or delivered by hand to the UKC superintendent personnel before the start of the event. 3. Cancelled entries submitted before the close of entries will be charged a processing fee of 50% the entry fee for each entry/class being cancelled. No entries will be refunded after the pre-entry closing date and time or after entry limits have been reached. 4. Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event a dog is absent, dis-

qualified, excused by veterinarian or judge, or barred from competition by action of Event Committee. 5. Every effort will be made to find all duplicate entries before processing. If a duplicate entry is processed however, no refund will be made. 6. Entry overpayments may be donated to the general trophy fund. 7. If, because of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the host organization, it is impossible to open or to complete an event, no refund of entry fee will be made. 8. If, in the opinion of the host club, the well-being of dogs, exhibitors or spectators is at risk due to extreme weather conditions such as but not limited to snow storms, hurricanes, tornado, lightning or extreme heat, the host club may cancel or stop an event before completion. No refunds will be made in such cases.

CLASS CHANGE/CORRECTION OF ENTRY 1. Owners are responsible for the accuracy of information on their entry forms. Owners are responsible for any errors made on entry forms, regardless of who may make such errors. Owners and exhibitors are responsible for correcting any errors on their entry. 2. If, per the owner’s records a dog has completed the requirements for a title after the closing of entries, the dog may be moved up from the entered class to the class for which it is eligible. Moveups must be requested in writing to UKC not later than one-half hour prior to the start of any regular judging at the show in which the move-up is being made. 3. Any corrections to entries must be made in writing to UKC using the appropriate form provided no later than one-half hour prior to the start of any regular judging at the show.

SCHEDULING CONFLICTS FOR DOGS COMPETING IN MULTIPLE EVENTS 1. Exhibitors are responsible for being available for judging at the scheduled time. 2. Every possible effort will be made to accommodate exhibitors who have dogs entered in multiple events, but judges are not required to wait for dogs. Exhibitors are advised to check in as early as possible and to notify stewards in all rings affected by the conflict so that judges may more easily work around any conflicts. 3. Conformation takes priority over performance events. 4. If an exhibitor misses their scheduled judging time for a performance event and that class has not been completed, the judge has the discretion to allow that exhibitor to run at the end of the class or mark the exhibitor absent.

LICENSED CONFORMATION (regular and altered) & JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP CLASSES. The licensed classes offered are found on the conformation entry form. This entry form outlines the allowable ages for each licensed class. The class is determined by the age of the dog on the day of the event.

Junior Showmanship Junior Showmanship shall consist of the following classes: 1. Pee-Wee: 2 years and under 4 years of age. 2. Sub-Junior: 4 years and under 6 years of age. 3. Pre-Junior: 6 years and under 8 years of age. 4. Junior Classes: 8 years and under 13 years of age. a. Novice Junior. This class is for true beginners of the sport. A junior member may compete at the novice level until they are awarded a Best Junior Handler award over an open junior or open senior. Once a junior handler competing in the novice classes defeats another junior handler from the open classes for a Best Junior Handler award they must move into the open class for the next event. b. Open Junior. This class is for any junior handler who meets the age requirements. However, once a junior handler has competed

in this class, they are ineligible to compete at the novice level. 5. Senior Classes: 13 years of age up to and including 18 years of age. a. Novice Senior: This class is for true beginners of the sport. A junior handler may compete at the novice level until they are awarded a Best Junior Handler award over an open junior or open senior. Once a junior handler competing in the novice classes defeats another junior handler from the open classes for a Best Junior Handler award they must move into the open classes for the next event. b. Open Senior: This class is for any senior handler who meets the age requirements. However, once a junior handler has competed in this class, they are ineligible to compete at the novice level. Best Junior Handler: Best Junior Handler class shall consist of the first-place winners from the Novice Junior class, the Open Junior Class, the Novice Senior Class and the Open Senior Class. CONFORMATION 1. Males judged before Females. 2. Points are awarded to the winners of the following classes offered for UKC-recognized breeds that are eligible for conformation: Puppy, Junior, Intermediate (Senior), Adult, and Breeder/Handler, Best Male of Variety, Best Male, Best Female of Variety, Best Female, and Best of Winners.

NON-LICENSED CLASSES. Total Dog/Altered Total Dog Award. (Offered Friday January 12, Saturday January 13, Sunday January 14) To be eligible for a “Total Dog” or “Altered Total Dog” award a dog must: a. On Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the event, compete in the conformation classes with competition and win one of the following classes: Best Male/Female of Variety, Best Male/Female, Best of Winners, Champion, Grand Champion, Best of Breed, Group 1 through 4 (providing the group placement has competition), Best In Show or Reserve Best In Show, and b. On the same day, earn a qualifying score in a performance event**. Dogs who meet the above requirements will receive a special “Total Dog” award. Total Junior Award. (Offered Friday January 12, Saturday January 13, Sunday January 14) To be eligible for a “Total Junior” award a junior must: a. On Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the event, compete in a UKC Junior Showmanship Licensed class and earn a 1st-4th placement with competition or an Award of Merit. Licensed classes include Novice Junior, Novice Senior, Open Junior and Open Senior. b. Award of Merit* for UKC Junior Showmanship classes will be calculated as follows: • 6 Junior Handlers in competition 1 AOM • 9 Junior Handlers in competition 2 AOM • 12 Junior Handlers in competition 3 AOM • 15 Junior Handlers in competition 4 AOM • 18 Junior Handlers in competition 5 AOM • 21 Junior Handlers in competition 6 AOM • 24 Junior Handlers in competition 7 AOM • 27 Junior Handlers in competition 8 AOM • 30 Junior Handlers in competition 9 AOM • 33 Junior Handlers in competition 10 AOM *Award of Merit will only be given if the individual class meets these requirements and the Junior must also earn a qualifying score in any one performance event(s)** on the same day the conformation requirement was earned. Junior Handlers who meet the above requirements will receive a special “Total Junior” award.

NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS There are to be no ex-pens in the building, and crates must be stacked due to limited space. Dogs may not be left in soft sided crates unattended or in crates that are open or unzippered. There will be no saving of floor/grooming/crating space. Large floor mats will not be allowed. All exhibitors are expected to abide by the UKC Rules and Regulations and to cooperate with fairgrounds staff, stewards and event staff.

1. All events are held under the Rules and Regulations of the United Kennel Club. By entering this show/trial, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport. 2. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs will be allowed on the grounds or in the buildings on the day of a UKC Licensed event. 3. It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create unnecessary disturbances or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may be asked to leave the show site. In that case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. 4. UKC or Kern County Fairgrounds are not responsible for loss, accidents or theft. 5. The “No Smoking” rule will be strictly enforced in all buildings and areas so designated. 6. Exhibitors and dog owners are expected and required to clean up after their own dogs. Any person witnessing a violation of this rule must report it to the Event Committee. The Event Committee may ask any person violating this rule to leave the event grounds. No refund will be made if an exhibitor is asked to leave the grounds. 7. UKC will vigorously support any hotel that files a complaint about exhibitors who fail to keep their dogs quiet or to clean up after them. UKC will take strong disciplinary action against any offenders to prevent bad conduct of a few exhibitors eliminating the privileges of responsible exhibitors. 8. UKC encourages exhibitors to present their dogs with the least amount of grooming necessary to enable a Judge to properly compare each dog with the standard of its breed. Dogs should be clean, with nails cut to a length suitable for the dog to perform the work for which it was bred, and with clean teeth. The Judge’s determination that this rule has been violated shall be final. UKC enforces rules against artificially altering pigment and coat color, coat texture, and surgical alterations as outlined in the UKC Rules and Regulations. 9. Except when being judged or when crated, dogs must be kept on leash.
