2008 NFL Senior Premiers & 2007 NFL Reserve Premiers The Thomastown Football Club was established in 1967 after the local primary school Principal; Mr Peter Cook saw a need for a place to give the local school children of the area a way of learning and playing Australian Rules Football. Mr Cook is the club’s number one member still today. The club evolved over the years and in 1977 the first senior team participated in the Panton Hill Football League. In 1980 the Club joined the V.A.F.A however with the ageing population of the region the junior sides fell away due to lack of numbers. After 20 years in the V.A.F.A, in 2001 the club was reborn after the players and members decided to accept an invitation to join the D.V.F.L, (now the NFL) where the Club was situated in Division 2. As part of this rebirth the club has formed strong ties with the Lalor Stars Junior Football Club and most recently with West Lalor Football Club. The bond between the Thomastown Football Club and Lalor Stars Junior Football Club has progressed very well providing the boys from Lalor Stars with a Senior Club environment to continue their development of the game as well as allowing Thomastown Football Club to once again continue to promote junior development of Australian Rules football in the area. It is envisaged the same will happen with Players from West Lalor Football Club The Thomastown Football Club relies heavily on Sponsorship funds, not to be used to pay footballers to play this game but to keep costs down to an acceptable level whilst continuing to foster young players to higher levels of achievement. The cost of equipment, competition affiliation fees and provision of staff such as medical trainers is ever increasing. Sponsorship provides the opportunity to promote your brand, product and service directly to the club’s members and families 2008 was an exciting year for us. We gained promotion to Division One by winning the Second Division Premiership. The Reserves and U/19’s both played finals. Our player numbers are strong and it is most likely that the club will have access to over 40 U/19 players in 2010 We are seeking the support of your business in 2011 which sees the club in Division 2 of the NFL competition and looking to improve on the seventh placed finish of 2010. The club will continue to be praised for offering strong support for its junior development and a place where families are welcome. In addition the club supports and is involved in the following community programs AFL Respect and Responsibility, Preventing Violence against Women, Good Sports Alcohol and Drug Program, AFL Victoria Club Development Program (Bronze Level) through AFL Victoria and the NFL’s Communities Working Together Program to assist the Thomastown Football Club to become an even better place to be associated with.
