Los discípulos quedarían profundamente desconcertados al presenciar los hechos de la Pasión. Por eso, el Señor condujo a tres de ellos, precisamente a los que debían acompañarle en su agonía de Getsemaní, a la cima del monte Tabor para que contemplaran su gloria. Allí se mostró “en la claridad soberana que quiso fuese visible para estos tres hombres, reflejando lo espiritual de una manera adecuada a la naturaleza humana. Pues, rodeados todavía de la carne mortal, era imposible que pudieran ver ni contemplar aquella inefable e inaccesible visión de la misma divinidad, que está reservada en la vida eterna para los limpios de corazón” (San León Magno, Homilía sobre la transfiguración), la que nos aguarda si procuramos ser fieles cada día. También a nosotros el Señor quiere confortarnos con la esperanza del Cielo aunque el camino se hace costoso y asoma el desaliento. Pensar en lo que nos aguarda nos ayudará a ser fuertes y a perseverar. El paso del tiempo para el cristiano no es, en modo alguno, una tragedia; acorta, por el contrario, el camino que hemos de recorrer para el abrazo definitivo con Dios: el encuentro tanto tiempo esperado.

From the event of the Transfiguration I would like to take two significant elements that can be summed up in two words: ascent and descent. We all need to go apart, to ascend the mountain in a space of silence, to find ourselves and better perceive the voice of the Lord. This we do in prayer. But we cannot stay there! Encounter with God in prayer inspires us anew to “descend the mountain” and return to the plain where we meet many brothers weighed down by fatigue, sickness, injustice, ignorance, poverty both material and spiritual. To these brothers in difficulty, we are called to bear the fruit of that experience with God, by sharing the grace we have received. And this is curious. When we hear the Word of Jesus, when we listen to the Word of Jesus and carry it in our heart, this Word grows. Do you know how it grows? By giving it to the other! The Word of Christ grows in us when we proclaim it, when we give it to others! And this is what Christian life is. It is a mission for the whole Church, for all the baptized, for us all: listen to Jesus and offer him to others. Do not forget: this week listen to Jesus! And think about the matter of the Gospel: will you? Will you do this? Then next Sunday you tell me if you have done this: that you have a little book of the Gospel in your pocket or in your purse to read in little stages throughout the day. And now let us turn to our Mother Mary, and entrust ourselves to her guidance in pursuing with faith and generosity this path of Lent, learning a little more how to “ascend” with prayer and listen to Jesus and to “descend” with brotherly love, proclaiming Jesus. En aquel tiempo, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, el hermano de éste, y los hizo subir a solas con él a un monte elevado. Ahí se transfiguró en su presencia: su rostro se puso resplandeciente como el sol y sus vestiduras se volvieron blancas como la nieve. De pronto aparecieron ante ellos Moisés y Elías, conversando con Jesús. Entonces Pedro le dijo a Jesús: "Señor, ¡qué bueno sería quedarnos aquí! Si quieres, haremos aquí tres chozas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías". Cuando aún estaba hablando, una nube luminosa los cubrió y de ella salió una voz que decía: "Éste es mi Hijo muy amado, en quien tengo puestas mis complacencias; escúchenlo". Al oír esto, los discípulos cayeron rostro en tierra, llenos de un gran temor. Jesús se acercó a ellos, los tocó y les dijo: "Levántense y no teman". Alzando entonces los ojos, ya no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús. Mientras bajaban del monte, Jesús les ordenó: "No le cuenten a nadie lo que han visto, hasta que el Hijo del hombre haya resucitado de entre los muertos".

Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them,conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;listen to him." When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, "Rise, and do not be afraid." And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, "Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead."

ermanos y Hermanas en Cristo Jesús, este camino Cuaresmal, nos lleva este Domingo a vivir la conversión y dejarnos transfigurar por el amor de Dios. En efecto, para seguir a Jesús necesitamos momentos como el de la transfiguración y, gracias a Dios, también nosotros los tenemos, aunque no sea de un modo tan solemne como el que vivieron Pedro, Santiago y Juan en el monte Tabor. Necesitamos también darnos cuenta de que el camino de Jesús es un camino luminoso, y que realmente en Él se manifiesta toda la gloria de Dios. Necesitamos momentos de silencio para escuchar y sentir las palabras del Padre resonando en nuestro interior: "Éste es mi Hijo, el amado, mi predilecto. Escuchadlo." Nuestro Señor nos invita a vivir el sentido de nuestra vocación cristiana en donde se hace necesario desprendernos de las cosas de este mundo porque son pasajeras. ¡La vida es tan corta… que no vale la pena desperdiciarla! Desprendernos, sobre todo, de nuestras costumbres que nos estancan en la mediocridad o tal vez en el pecado. Cuesta, pero si no se paga este precio, no hay salvación. Es también, la Transfiguración de Cristo una llamada a la esperanza en la vida eterna. Una anticipación de la Victoria Perfecta de Cristo. Recordemos entonces la frase del Papa Emérito Benedicto XVI sobre la Cuaresma: “La observancia de la Cuaresma es por excelencia la insignia de la batalla cristiana. Por ella nos probamos a nosotros mismos que no somos enemigos de la cruz de Cristo, por ella evitamos el flagelo de la justicia divina, por ella obtenemos fortaleza contra el príncipe de las tinieblas, porque nos protege la ayuda celestial. Si la humanidad se volviese negligente en la observancia de la Cuaresma, sería un perjuicio para la gloria de Dios, una vergüenza para la religión católica, y un peligro para las almas cristianas. ¡Tampoco puede dudarse de que tal negligencia se convertiría en fuente de miseria en el mundo, de calamidad pública y de dolor privado” Orar y confiar en Dios es nuestro llamado!

rothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, this Lenten journey leads us this Sunday to live out our conversion and allow ourselves to be transfigured by the love of God. In fact, to follow Jesus, we need moments like that of the transfiguration, and thanks to God, we also experience them, even if it is not as solemnly as experienced by Peter, James and John on Mount Tabor. We also need to realize that the way of Jesus is a luminous way, and that all the glory of God manifests in Him. We need moments of silence to hear and feel the words of the Father resounding within us: "This is my beloved Son, listen to him.” Our Lord invites us to live out our Christian vocation, where it becomes necessary to detach ourselves from the things of this world because they are temporary. Life is so short ... it is not worth wasting it! To detach ourselves, above all, from our habits that leave us stranded in mediocrity or perhaps in sin. It costs us much, but if this price is not paid, there is no salvation. The Transfiguration of Christ is also a call for hope in eternal life. An anticipation of the Perfect Victory of Christ. Let us recall then the phrase of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI on Lent: "The observance of Lent is par excellence the emblem of the Christian battle. By it, we prove ourselves that we are not enemies of the cross of Christ, we avoid the scourge of divine justice, and we obtain strength against the prince of darkness, because heaven protects us. If humanity became negligent in the observance of Lent, it would be a detriment to the glory of God, a shame for the Catholic religion, and a danger for Christian souls. Nor should we doubt that such negligence would become a source of misery in the world, of public calamity and private pain. "To pray and put our trust in God is our calling!

Cómo vivir la Cuaresma Luchando por Cambiar. Analiza tu conducta para conocer en qué estás fallando. Hazte propósitos para cumplir día con día y revisa en la noche si lo lograste. Recuerda no ponerte demasiados porque te va a ser muy difícil cumplirlos todos. Hay que subir las escaleras de un escalón en un escalón, no se puede subir toda de un brinco. Conoce cuál es tu defecto dominante y haz un plan para luchar contra éste. Tu plan debe ser realista, práctico y concreto para poderlo cumplir.

La Oración En esta Cuaresma, busca momentos cada día para presentar al Señor nuestras ansias, esperanzas, petición de ayuda y perdón. Debemos esforzarnos por encontrar esos espacios. Otra forma muy útil de oración es la lectura de los evangelios, o de los salmos. Proponte leer durante esta Cuaresma el evangelio de Marcos: se trata de un texto fácil de leer, ágil y vivo, y constituye un buen acercamiento a la persona de Jesús.

The Communications Coordinator candidate must have strong writing, editing and project implementation skills, and also be well organized and have strong self-management skills. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based content management systems is a must. San Pío de Pieltrecina nos da una excelente reflexion que podemos utilizar para saber en donde estamos en esta Cuaresma, y si es el caso, fortalecer alguna debilidad. "Ningún pecado es tal si no fue consentido por la voluntad. Cuando la voluntad no actúa, no hay pecado, sólo hay debilidad humana."

HOW TO LIVE LENT Striving for Change Analyze your behavior to understand where you are failing. Make your day to day resolutions and check in the evening to see how you did. Remember not to make too many resolutions because it will be very difficult to fulfill them all. You have to climb the ladder one step at a time. You cannot simply jump to the top. Know your dominant weakness and make a plan to conquer it. Your plan must be realistic, practical, and concrete in order to be successful.

La montaña representa el lugar de la cercanía con Dios y del encuentro íntimo con Él; el lugar de la oración, donde estar ante la presencia del Señor. Allá arriba en la montaña, Jesús se presenta a los tres discípulos transfigurado, luminoso; y luego aparecen Moisés y Elías, conversando con Él. Nosotros, los discípulos de Jesús, estamos llamados a escuchar su voz y a tomar en serio sus palabras. Para escuchar a Jesús, tenemos que seguirlo. Jesús no tenía una cátedra o un púlpito fijos, sino que era un maestro itinerante, que proponía sus enseñanzas a lo largo de las calles, recorriendo distancias no siempre previsibles y, a veces algo incómodas. De este episodio de la Transfiguración, quisiera señalar dos elementos significativos, que sintetizo en dos palabras: subida y bajada. Tenemos necesidad de apartarnos en un espacio de silencio -de subir a la montaña- para reencontrarnos con nosotros mismos y percibir mejor la voz del Señor. ¡Pero no podemos quedarnos ahí! El encuentro con Dios en la oración nos impulsa nuevamente a bajar de la montaña y a volver hacia abajo, a la llanura, donde nos encontramos con muchos hermanos abrumados por fatigas, injusticias, pobreza material y espiritual. A estos hermanos nuestros que están en dificultad, estamos llamados a brindarles los frutos de la experiencia que hemos vivido con Dios, compartiendo con ellos los tesoros de la gracia recibida. Pero, si no hemos estado con Dios, si nuestro corazón no ha sido consolado ¿cómo podremos consolar a otros? Esta misión concierne a toda la Iglesia y es responsabilidad en primer lugar de los Pastores – obispos y sacerdotes - llamados a sumergirse en medio de las necesidades del Pueblo de Dios, acercándose con afecto y ternura, especialmente a los más débiles y pequeños, a los últimos. Pero para cumplir con alegría y disponibilidad esta obra pastoral, los Obispos y los sacerdotes necesitan las oraciones de toda la comunidad cristiana. Dirijámonos ahora a nuestra Madre María, y encomendémonos a su guía para proseguir con fe y generosidad el itinerario de la Cuaresma, aprendiendo un poco más a «subir» con la oración y a bajar con la caridad fraterna.
