MIT Sloan LGBT Club is a student organization that fosters an open, honest environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered students, partners, faculty, and staff. It promotes positive visibility and creates community among MIT Sloan’s LGBT students.

LBGT@MITand G@MIT are student groups that ensure a safe and supportive campus community where lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, and questioning individuals and their allies are all welcomed as equals. Both groups provide resources and host activities throughout the year—everything from World AIDS Day awareness to an annual Cape Cod retreat. The Rainbow Lounge is a meeting space and support network for all LGBT-related activities, programs, and services at MIT. It includes a library and is home to MIT and MIT Sloan’s different LGBT student groups. Rainbow Lounge staff are available to direct students to other services and resources. Annual C-Function: Each week, a different MIT Sloan club or group sponsors a fun and informal gathering that is open to the entire campus. This year, the MIT Sloan LGBT Club hosted an event for the community where students came dressed as their favorite superhero for a night of socializing and fun. Boston Pride parade and celebration.

In 2003, Massachusetts became the first state in the U.S. to legalize same-sex marriage. In 2011, Newsweek named MIT the most gay-friendly school in the country. The Boston LGBT Pride parade and festival attracts approximately 400,000 participants each June. MIT Sloan LGBT Club leaders played critical roles in organizing and managing the Reaching Out Conference in Boston in the fall of 2012.
