The Holy Spirit - The Gifts of the Spirit Introduction You learned that you have a helper with you all the time – a very powerful helper. You learned how you can receive power to go out and extend the kingdom of God. You are full of fire and eager to do God’s works. And now you will learn how you can help others, through the power of the Holy Spirit. We will look at the spiritual toolbox that God has ready for you. The Bible speaks about the gifts or the manifestations of the spirit. And there are 9 specific gifts mentioned that will help you to minister. 1 Cor 12:4-11 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord . 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
I Corinthians 14:1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.
That’s like Christmas for a child! But who can get what and how can you get it. And once you got something, where is the manual? So before we go into each gift in detail, let’s see – who are those for?

Conditions to receive gifts of the spirit 1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 1) Every man [hekastos] not every men – That’s you! a) Did you only got to know Jesus last week? – It’s you! b) Do you know Jesus for years, but never received the gifts – it’s you! i) Unbelief ii) Condemnation c) Are you a child, and adult or a grandparent, man or women – IT’S YOU! 2) I thought that gifts are only for the 5fold ministries If this were true, then there had to be a gift of apostology for the apostles and pastorizer for the pastors. There is a difference between spiritual gifts, ministries and ministry offices. a) Everyone can receive gifts, everyone can operate in ministries, but not everyone is necessarily called into a ministry office The Spirit gives gifts for service to man, Christ gives the gifted man to the churches. (1 Cor 12:4-5) b) Every Prophet should be able to prophecy, but you can prophecy or operate in a prophetic ministry without being in the office of a prophet. given to EVERY MAN… - hekastos
How to receive the gifts of the Spirit Now you know that YOU can receive the gifts, so how can you receive them? 1) Receive by faith a) How did you receive salvation? By faith b) How do you receive healing? By faith c) How do you receive the gifts of the spirit? By faith! i) If you believe the word, that the gifts are given to EVERY ONE, you can receive them, just by asking. 2) Dividing to every man severally has He will You might argue that He only gives what/when He wants to and we don’t know what He wants. Maybe you don’t know, but I know that Jesus said in Luke 11:13: If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” If you watched the message about the power of the Holy Spirit, you should know how to receive the baptism of the Spirit! 2

The nine Gifts of the Spirit 1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 1) The word of wisdom Wisdom is future oriented a) What is wisdom? i) Wisdom of the World: Per definition it’s: Deep, thorough, or mature understanding and the ability to make sensible decisions. (1) Example: We’re up on the mountain, so I sell the drink for double the price. This is selfisch ambition and is earthly unspiritual, demonic wisdom according to James 3:15 ii) Wisdom of God Includes future oriented revelation (1) Example: Salomon and the two prostitutes – Bring me a sword! they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment (1 King 3:28) b) Wisdom vs. The Word of Wisdom The Word of Wisdom is for now and includes revelation. c) Example: I see the Lord is leading you on a street, and you’re tempted to go after an offer you have received, but the Lord is telling you, go into the other direction, there is much more blessing awaiting you. --> Similar to Prophecy
2) The word of knowledge Revelation about a current or past circumstance/situation a) What is Knowledge? To know things, information b) Knowledge vs. The Word of Knowledge i) Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up (1 Cor 8:1) ii) The Word of knowledge includes revelation – things you didn’t know before. c) Example: You are in a service and you get the revelation that someone is here with terrible migraine, and God wants to heal this person. --> Information, for the good/profit of someone else.
3) The gift of Faith a) What is faith? To believe and fully trust in something that is not evident b) Faith vs. The Gift of faith We all believe in the salvation through Christ, but the Gift of faith manifests extraordinary faith for something specific. Faith that you did not have before. c) Example: i) Wrong/Selfish: Oh Brother, you have the gift of faith; please believe for me, to get a brand new Ferrari! 3

ii) Correct, profiting for all: I know that I know that I know – God will give you the job you were praying for.
4) Gifts of healing a) What is healing The process in which something’s health is restored. a) Healing vs Curing The doctor is curing your cough with a medicine Healing involves supernatural power that restores health. Either immediately or gradually. b) Gifts of Healing Faith for healing for certain diseases. c) Example: You have great faith for fever to leave the body
5) Working of miracles a) What are miracles / Examples Creational healings (legs growing, blind eyes or death ears opening) Creating Wine out of Water
6) Prophecy a) What is Prophecy? 1Cor 14:3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. In other Words, prophecy is divine inspired education/teaching, or exhortation or comfort. 1Cor 14:24-25 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you. b) Example You have a picture or a word, like: “I see a person in a relationship” ….then you go on.
7) Discerning of spirits a) What is the Discerning of Spirits? The ability to sense the presence of Angles and Demons b) Examples I learned to appreciate this gift especially. People start to sense demons in places/activities …they don’t want to go there anymore. 8) Divers kinds of tongues a) Two kind of tongues - Tongues of Angles and “real” foreign Languages b) What are diverse tongues i) It is when you pray with your spirit (1 Cor 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful.) ii) Opening the well and the door for the other gifts. Building up yourself c) How to speak in tongues Open your mouth and speak!
9) Interpretation of tongues a) What is Interpretation of tongues Its not a translation, but a interpretation based on revelation b) Example: …….shika rama sata
How to walk in the Gifts I Cor 14:26 What then, brothers? When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. Let all things be done for building up. 27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.
I Cor 13:1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
