The 2nd International Conference on Communication, Media & Society: Media, Gender and Culture 2014 (iCO MES2014) Bandung, Indonesia; February 25-26, 2014

Background

Over the last decades, a considerable amount of research has been conducted on the relationship between genders with communication. Nevertheless, new insights are still needed, especially those that explore the interrelations and negotiations between media and gender through the use of interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches.

This conference serves as a forum to discuss ideas, experiences and research results on gender and media, bringing together social sciences researchers and academics, NGOs representatives and media professionals.

The Institute of Journalism Studies (IJS) Faculty of Communication and Media Studies Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM, University of Technology MARA) Malaysia in collaboration with the International Women University (IWU), Bandung , Indonesia,  will hold the 2nd International Conference on Communication, Media and Society (iCOMES2014) from February 25 - 26, 2014 at Anggrek Shopping Hotel in Bandung, Indonesia. OBJECTIVES

The objectives of iCOMES are: 1. To provide an academic platform for the discourse on diverse issues in media, communication, gender  and culture; 2. To identify paths for future progress in media and communication education and

practices; 3. To promote the sharing of scientific research findings among scholars at the domestic and international levels; and 4. To enhance networking between researchers and practitioners in the fields of media and communication, especially among nations in the Asian region.

Theme : MEDIA, GENDER AND CULTURE Sessions and paper proposals dealing with diversities in media, gender and culture research are invited.

Abstract Submission Guideline:

1. Abstract should be around 200-250 words. 2. Include a maximum of five keywords. 3. Abstract can be written in Malay, Indonesia or English language. 4. Include the names of ALL authors, their affiliations, country of origin and e-mail contacts. 5. Registration fees are payable by bank transfer only and must be for the total amount due in RM or USD . Bank fees and money transfer costs are the responsibility of the payer and should be paid in addition to the registration fees.

Cancellation and Refund Policy: - For cancellation requests submitted before January 15, 2014, 70% of your paid conference registration fee will be refunded. - No refund of conference registration fee will be made for cancellations after February 25, 2014.
