This exclusive, customdesigned tour is set amid the rolling hills of the Veneto in Northern Italy where the magnificent Renaissance villas of Palladio stand. Arrive at Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) and board a group transfer to the centrally located Hotel Campo Marzio in Vicenza. Gather for a welcome dinner of regional specialties at a nearby restaurant. Hotel Campo Marzio (D)

This morning, visit Palazzo Porto Colleoni Thiene for a private viewing of a special collection of documents once belonging to Palladio. Pass by Villa Caldogno, then discover one of Palladio’s earliest commissions, Villa Godi, surrounded by lush gardens and decorated with lavish frescoes. Enjoy lunch at the villa’s historic restaurant. This afternoon, explore the architecture of Villa Poiana inspired by ancient Roman baths. Finish the day at the patrician Villa Pisani, or La Rocca, where Vicenzo Scamozzi’s design was influenced by Palladio’s iconic masterpiece Villa La Rotonda. Hotel Campo Marzio (B, L)

Trissino, Barbaro, Emo & Cornaro Begin the Palladian journey in Cricoli at Villa Trissino, the home of Andrea Palladio’s mentor, Gian Giorgio Trissino. In the town of Maser, see Palladio’s celebrated Villa Barbaro and the tempietto, or church temple, he designed to function as the villa’s chapel and local parish church. In the hilltop village of Asolo, enjoy spectacular views of Northern Italy while sipping regional wines and savoring an unforgettable gourmet meal. After lunch, admire Palladio’s expansive design for Villa Emo, with frescoes by Giovanni Battista Zelotti. During a private tour of the awe-inspiring Villa La Rotonda, admire breathtaking views overlooking Vicenza. Enter the city for a historic walking tour of Palladio’s hidden gems including Santa Maria dei Servi, a church where a young Palladio worked as a stonecutter, and Teatro Olimpico, the master

architect’s final design for a “perfect Roman theater.” After lunch with your fellow travelers, explore the new Palladio Museum and its architectural models of Palladio’s ingenuity. Padua

This morning, depart for Padua, the city where Palladio was born and spent his early years. See Giotto’s landmark fresco cycle at the Scrovegni Chapel, then follow your local guide on a leisurely walking tour of the historic city center. Admire the University of Padua, which boasts such legendary alumni as Copernicus and Galileo; walk through the markets at Piazza delle Erbe; and marvel at the soaring architecture of Basilica
 di Sant’Antonio. After free time for lunch, drive to Villa Foscari, arguably Palladio’s grandest villa graced with frescoes of Ovid’s metamorphosis. Return to Vicenza for an independent evening and dinner at leisure. Hotel Campo Marzio (B)

Mantua

Travel south to Mantua, the “Renaissance dream city” and see Palazzo Te, the mannerist masterpiece by architect and painter Giulio Romano, including astonishing ceiling frescoes in the Sala dei Giganti, or Room of the Giants. A deposit of $1,000 per paying participant is required to guarantee participation in the program. This deposit may be paid by check or by Visa or MasterCard. Final payment will be invoiced and is due on December 22, 2016, by check only to International Seminar Design, Inc. Registrants will be accepted beyond this date on a space-available basis with payment in full by check only.

Flights: Airfare is not included

in the tour price. Participants are responsible for all aspects of their round-trip air arrangements.

Cancellations & Refunds: All

cancellations must be received in writing by ISDI, and are subject to a non-refundable administrative fee of $500 per person. Written cancellation received by ISDI on or before December 22, 2016:

full refund minus $500 per person administrative fee. Written cancellation received by ISDI between December 23, 2016, and February 15, 2017: $2,400 cancellation charge per person. Cancellations received on or after February 16, 2017: no refund. After the tour has commenced, it is not possible to issue any refunds. No refunds for any unused portion of a tour including, but not limited to, occasional missed meals or any missed sightseeing tours. Costs for promotion, staff, and other group expenses are not refundable. In the case of cancellation, substitutions are not accepted. Tour cost is non-transferable. If ISDI or the NTHP cancels a tour, active registrants will receive a full refund of all tour payments. A package of cancellation, baggage, and medical insurance is strongly recommended.
