The Armory’s unique education and exhibition programs encourage children and adults to experience, understand and appreciate contemporary art while being involved in the creative process of art making. Many of our Studio art classes visit the Gallery during the session and artworks in the exhibitions become sources of inspiration when creating art in class. Techniques and ideas used by the exhibiting artists are also learned in some classes.

See art. Make art.

After your class arrives, our trained Teaching Artists tour your students through our current art exhibition. While in the gallery, students experience small group activities, art exercises, and discussions related to the themes and concepts found in the exhibition. From there, your students enter our main art studio where Armory Teaching Artists guide them through a hands-on art project related to the exhibition. Working in mediums like clay, painting, sculpture, printmaking, or bookmaking, this standards-based experience encourages your students to explore the artistic process and create their own work of art. Afterwards, why not bring bagged lunches to enjoy in Pasadena’s beautiful Memorial Park? It’s across the street!
