NEWSLETTER 4 of 2015 2015.11.13 1. CONFERENCE Conference 2015 was hosted from 20-22 August 2015 at the Premier Hotel - O.R.Tambo in Kempton Park, Gauteng. The Conference was of a high standard and attended by 275 delegates from 115 schools. For more information on the Conference attendance statistics refer to the table below. The Conference evaluation results were overwhelmingly positive and we would therefore like to congratulate the Gauteng Local Organising Committee on a well-organised and successful Conference. 3. MEMBERSHIP FEES 2015/2016 FINANCIAL YEAR The new approved fee structure for the financial year 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2016 is as follows: Schools with less than 50 learners and Full Service Schools -
R 505 (R 480 if paid before 31 Dec. 2015)
Schools with 51 – 100 learners
R 1,160 (R1,110 if paid before 31 Dec. 2015)

Schools with more than 100 learners -
R 1,885 (R1,790 if paid before 31 Dec. 2015)
Schools paying their membership fees before 31 December 2015 will qualify for a discount. The discounted amount is indicated in brackets, above. SANASE also extends an invitation to all Full Service Schools to join SANASE. Please note that a special discounted membership fee structure has been instituted for Full Service Schools (FSS). On payment of membership fees, schools will receive their membership certificates for the 2015/2016 year. Schools are reminded of further discounts that they could receive by enrolling new members. Please approach your neighbouring schools and others that you might know.
4. MEMBERSHIP FORM A membership form has been included in this newsletter. Schools are requested to complete the membership/affiliation form and to fax or e-mail it to the administrator. When completing the membership form, PLEASE ENSURE THAT: • the contact details of the school are correctly filled in, • the actual NUMBER OF LEARNERS at the school is filled in and NOT just marked with an X • when doing the payment to SANASE, indicate the NAME OF THE SCHOOL in the box provided for reference, and NOT the name of the principal or the clerk, and • you fax the deposit slip as well as the membership form to 086 653 4779 Please also check the legibility of all the details before faxing it to the SANASE office as this will facilitate the recording of information. A list of the schools that have so far (31 October 2015) paid their membership fees, is included in this Newsletter.
5. NEWS FROM THE PROVINCES Gauteng: Dr Cobie Lombard, the principal of Unica School and chairperson of SANASE Gauteng, is emigrating to Singapore. We would like to thank her for her dedication to education in SA and at the same time wish her and her family all of the best in their new endeavours.
6. CONDOLENCES We wish to express our heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr Khan, the principal of Goudveld School in Gauteng who suddenly passed on. Our condolences are extended to all member schools that have lost educators, non-educators, learners and loved ones over the past year.
7. MATRIC EXAMS To all schools with Grade 12 learners, accept our best wishes for the final examinations.
8. AGM 2016 To decide on which province will host the 2016 AGM, a process of bidding will be followed. Provincial Committees are therefore requested to mobilise all provincial members in joining resources for the bidding process. All provincial bids must be ready for submission and possible presentation by 8 December 2015. A copy of the bidding form will be forwarded to the provincial chairpersons.
9. MESSAGE FROM THE NEC Once again the holiday season is approaching and with it, the end of another year. As we celebrate the successes of 2015 we are keen to build on them for 2016 and beyond. We will continue to look for ways to improve and to do what is right for our members. We value and appreciate the support we receive from all of you. Please stay involved and continue to offer your thoughts. We look forward to serving you well in the New Year! Thank you, once again, for your support and we know that you will be walking with us on the journey ahead, as we promote the interest of learners in special education.
