Sam Hitchman has been making ceramic wares for almost 20 years. In January of 2013 Sam founded his business and began his fulltime career of making fine craft. His work has been inspired by the colors and lines found in nature. His work is designed to enhance and beautify the home and kitchen, while also being utilitarian. Sam prides himself on creating well designed, and finely crafted wares. Due to the handmade nature all dimensions and colors are to be used as examples only. Dimensions will vary from listed to actual sizes however they will maintain a uniformity that is consistent with handmade goods. The glaze surfaces are applied either by dipping or spraying and will have application and firing variances yielding a wide range of colors and textures, especially when discussing the glaze pattern known as “Natural”. This glaze pattern has the widest range of colors, and therefore all of the wares shown in this catalog are photographed in the “Natural” glaze pattern to preview as many of the colors and surfaces possible. Sam strives to provide as much uniformity as possible but enjoys and supports the natural variances which make his work unique. All of the glazes used are food safe, non toxic glazes. Lastly, some items utilize melted glass in the surfaces. Utilitarian items that have this melted glass feature are designed to be safe for utilitarian service. However some items, such as the “Little Dishes-#26” are not to be used for dipping sauces or eating/cooking from. These little dishes are designed to be used as spoon rests, change dishes, and a generally as beautiful catch-alls. .

A personal note: I sincerely appreciate your interest in my work; it has been years of struggle to arrive at this point and I plan to continue to evolve. Currently, I work out of two studios, which are over an hour apart from each other. This creates a logistical nightmare for a media which is very time sensitive. Also, as most artists are, I am a one person factory trying to juggle all the aspects of operating a full time business. Therefore, I do ask that you bear with me if an order gets delayed slightly. I strive to provide a quality product, designed and crafted expertly, in a timely fashion, accompanied with the best of customer service, all at an affordable cost. Should an issue arise I will notify you immediately, and will work diligently to keep everything on track. Also, you will notice that some items in this catalog are missing information, either dimensions, or supplementary photographs. These missing pieces have been out of stock at the time of the photo shoot, and will be completed very shortly. I greatly appreciate your understanding with these matters and look forward to working with you in the near future and for years to come. 2

Kindest Regards, Sam Hitchman

How to use this catalog: The purpose of this catalog is to provide written and visual examples of the wares created. The dimensions given are taken from actual wares, but are approximate; dimensions are listed as (Width x Depth x Height). The prices shown are the current retail prices. If numerous decorative patterns are available they will be listed; not every pattern is available on every item. Chiefly there are 4 main decorative styles;

Wavy Line Traditional Ridges Waves Pencil Sharpener Some items offer variants in design style; these generally refer to different shapes or accessries of like items. For example, bowls with flared rims or flat rims, or different handle styles on mixing bowls. Please specify when ordering where possible. Unless otherwise noted, all the wares are offered in any of the 6 glaze patterns found on page 5 & 6. If you received a hard copy of this catalog you should have also received a DVD, OR if you received an electronic copy there should be a Zip file attached. These will include full sized images used in this catalog. Lastly, you may place your order one of 3 ways; you may mail a hard copy of the order form, call, or email with your order. Once received, an invoice will be sent for your approval, following which work will begin.

Glaze Pattern Options Name/Abbreviation 1.Natural/N: varied hues predominately of browns, yellows, greens, and blues. By far the most popular glaze pattern, but also the most widely varying. Composed using numerous glazes; matching one pot to the other is practically impossible but do coordinate well. Surface varies from high gloss, to matte. 2.Tenmoku/T: A glossy black that will have areas that breaks to dark honey amber. 3.Oribe/O: A high to semi gloss green. Will vary from forest green to almost celadon green. 4.Cooper/C: a high gloss light blue with white flecks. Small silver, green, and blue crystals can form. 5. Dinosaur/D: a matte “robin’s egg”/turquoise blue that can have small to large areas of dark grey/black dots. 6.Noxema/B: a high gloss true cobalt blue. Areas can pool a dark almost denim blue.

Notes about ordering, selections, and payment; 1.All work is handmade and will vary in size, shape, and color; therefore “exact matching” of pieces is near impossible. Artist will make every attempt to provide cohesive pieces of work, but makes no guarantees. 2.Some wares have glass fused into their surfaces; these pieces are NOT recommended for cooking and/or eating from. The artist recommends that the “Little Dishes” (Item #26) only be used for decorative purposes (holding rings, small change, etc), or domestic purposes (coffee spoon rest, tea bag holder, etc), NOT for dipping sauces, or cooking in. Where glass is fused elsewhere the artist has taken steps to ensure functional safety. The buyer has NO selection in glass color when ordering. 3.Unless noted otherwise, buyer has selection from all six (6) glaze/color patterns. 4.“Custom Orders” are accepted at the artists discretion; custom orders require 50% down, 50% upon delivery. 5.If work is found to be defective at fault of artist, artist will replace said item or refund buyer compensatory costs. Damage caused by improper use (as noted on back of business card and below), or mishandling will yield no compensation. Pottery Use and Care Instructions Our lead free, non-toxic, food safe pottery can be used in the microwave, dishwasher, and over. When using in the oven DO NOT PREHEAT oven; place wares with food inside oven while cool and let warm together. Not recommended for use under the broiler. Do not transfer from freezer/refrigerator to oven/microwave quickly. Pre-warm teapots with hot tap water before filling with boiling water. DO NOT place pottery directly onto stove top burner or direct heat. Does not need to hand-washed. Can go on top and bottom of dishwasher. With these precautions your handmade ceramic ware will provide you with years of enjoyment. 6.Repairing ceramics is essentially impossible. If artist can assist he will attempt to do so. 7.Typical lead times for orders is 6-8 weeks; artist will inform you at time of order placement should more time be necessary. 8.Buyer pays all packing and shipping fees. Packing fee is 8% total order value. Specialty packing requested by buyer will result in extra fees. Buyer has right to request shipping carrier. 9.Artist will pack items with utmost consideration; however in the event of damage during shipping the artist will assume responsibility of filing claims with shipper. Artist does ask that as soon as buyer notices damage to either the packaging or wares that the buyer photograph the damage in question, save all materials, and notify artist immediately. Artist will send out replacements if damaged items are in stock, or begin a rush order to be delivered to the buyer at no extra cost. 10.Buyer has seven (7) days from date of order placement to amend an order without penalty. Between weeks 2-4 of order placement, additions to the order come with either a 30% up charge or a delay in estimated delivery date. Omissions from the order offered at no penalty. After week 4, NO amendments to the order are available; any amendments desired will be considered a new order. 11.Payment Terms: C.O.D (cash/check/charge) on delivery, or before shipping. Orders $1,000 and over a 15% down payment is required. 12.Payment forms: Cash, Check (NSF checks will result in $35 fee), or Charge (MC, VISA, AMEX, and DISCOVERY).
