Football & Netball Operations Manager Position Description Responsible to: Reporting to:

General Manager, Riddell District Football League General Manager, Riddell District Football League & Riddell District Football League Board of Directors

Position Objectives To improve the effectiveness of the RDFL through implementation of sustainable strategies that deliver quality improvement practices in all aspects of the RDFL office operations, as well as increase participation with particular emphasis on youth age levels. KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties. In many cases, a duty will necessitate consultation with the appropriate fellow staff member and board member.

ADMINISTRATION • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Oversee the conduct of all Junior (Under Age) and Senior (incorporating Senior and Reserve grade AND U18) Football competitions for the Riddell District FL (RDFL) Oversee the conduct of all Senior Netball competitions for the RDFL Maintain register of Accredited Coaches and Trainers Liaise with clubs and other stakeholders to ensure acceptable provision of service Oversee and manage the receipt, recording and administration of all new registrations Oversee and manage the administration of all aspects of clearances transferring to, from and within the RDFL Ensure the maintenance and updating of all player records, including clearance transactions and de-registrations Record all reports on players as submitted by the umpires and/or RDFL Officials Co-ordinate tribunal hearings and ensure that all parties concerned are aware of details of hearings, ie. Time, date, location. Update annually the RDFL Administrators Handbook Manage the input of all relevant data in RDFL IT systems. Establish and maintain high class record and file storage systems for the RDFL Establish and maintain Archiving of all RDFL Records Assist the General Manager with issuing Media Releases as required to promote the RDFL in a positive light. Prepare regular Junior Media reports for the print media.

RIDDELL DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE 2.0 HOME & AWAY COMPETITION • • • • • • •

Liaise with affiliated clubs, the AFLV and Netball Victoria to maintain effective working relationships Make recommendations to the Board of Directors for rule changes and adaptations Arrange annual fixtures (Senior and Junior football & netball). Liaise with the Riddell Umpires Association regarding competition requirements and any issues that may arise from time to time Arrange for weekly results to be processed, circulated to the media and presented on the relevant internet sites and any issues dealt with Facilitate the establishment and conduct of tribunal hearings Facilitate the implementation of Victorian Netball Association rules and regulations

3.0 FINALS COMPETITION •

Assist the General Manager with planning and co-ordinate RDFL Football & Netball finals series including but not limited to the following o Negotiate the usage and management of venues and facilities with local councils, Host clubs and related bodies o Arrange gatekeepers, ground managers, security, ground access etc o Arrange suitable Umpires with Riddell Umpires and Netball Victoria o Arrange appropriate cash handling and ticketing procedures for the collection and banking of gate receipts o Assist with arranging various final functions as required

4.0 INTER LEAGUE • • •

Manage the Junior Inter League program Maintain positive relationships with all relevant stakeholders including clubs, Western Jets, Calder Cannons and AFL Victoria. Assist with the Co-ordination of the Interleague and Intraleague programs for Under 18, Juniors and Netball including but not limited to the following o Negotiate the usage and management of venues and facilities with local council, host clubs and leagues o Co-ordinate the appointment of coaches, match committees, managers, trainers and medical staff o Arrange catering and host functions where necessary o Establish a communication network and communicate programs and policies to relevant parties o Arrange training programs as required by coaches and match committees including training venues, catering, apparel and merchandise o Prepare a budget for each individual Inter League Program – in conjunction with the General Manager o Ensure all AFLV and Netball Victoria requirements are met & adhered to. E.g. submission of Match returns, badging on jumpers and apparel, etc.

Promote and communicate Level 1, 2 and 3 coaching courses Conduct meetings and briefing sessions where necessary Ensure that all coaches are registered and accredited according to RDFL bylaws. Arrange annual trainer’s courses and ensure that all trainers are registered and accredited according to RDFL by-laws. Assist and support AFLV to ensure that all AFLV Training and information sessions are supported. Assist and support Netball Victoria to ensure that all Netball Victoria Training and information sessions are supported.

Conduct Pre season and regular season Risk Management inspections of all RDFL venues Submission of appropriate Risk Management paperwork as per Insurer’s requirements. E.g. Match Day checklist

FUNCTIONS Assist with the planning and conduct of the following functions: Bowen & Ryan Medal night, Junior Presentation Night, Annual Junior Round Robin Match, Interleague program,

MARKETING Assist the General Manager to identify Marketing and Sponsorship opportunities for the RDFL Assist and develop Sponsorship proposals and Marketing opportunities for the RDFL Assist the General Manager in developing and maintaining relationships with RDFL corporate partners Be able to identify new sponsorship and marketing opportunities for the RDFL Play a key role in assisting the General Manager in ensuring the RDFL does achieve budgetary position on an annual basis in the areas of Sponsorship, Events, etc.

Resource Support to Clubs Assist club officials in the day to day management of their clubs Communicate information to volunteers on the current football/netball environment, both internal and external to the RDFL Support clubs in their relationships with their local communities Act as a resource to provide assistance on compliance requirements of the club Work with the clubs to establish healthy football/netball environment policies that promote cultural change leading to enhancing the image of clubs as family friendly community assets Establish strategies to assist clubs to increase participation rates

10.0 KEY SELECTION CRITERIA & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Tertiary Qualification in Sports Management or similar desirable Excellent verbal and written communication and public relations skills Experience and skills in developing & conducting presentations, training courses, etc. Computer literacy to a high level, include Word Processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft applications, and data entry skills essential High level of competency with the application of Sportzware competition management system and Netball Victoria competition management system desirable. Ability to work flexible hours, with excellent time management skills and prioritizing skills Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Ability & willingness to work long hours, often for several weeks straight during peak (e.g finals) periods. Possess a high level of organization skills A genuine interest in football and netball, with a desire to lead growth and further development of the RDFL “brand”. Current Drivers license Doesn’t take him or herself too seriously. An enthusiastic and positive outlook

RIDDELL DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Remuneration A salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant depending upon experience and skills. Incentives related to the growth and development of the RDFL will be considered after the initial 12 months of employment. An initial 3 month probationary period applies. An annual review process regarding performance will be undertaken. Hours of Employment The successful candidate will need to be flexible in regard to hours of employment. With particular reference to the football and netball season, weekend work and attendance at evening meetings will be required. Other The position is based at the RDFL Office, 36 Brooke St, Sunbury.
