REQUEST FOR QUOTATION (RFQ): NMISA (12 - 13) T0003

THE NMISA WISHES TO PROCURE ONE HIGH PERFORMANCE, HIGH ACCURACY, SILICON DRIFT DETECTOR BASED ENERGY DISPERSIVE X-RAY SPECTROSCOPY MEASURING MACHINE, INCLUDING PROCESSING SYSTEM, SOFTWARE, DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION.

NB. On the last page of this document the bidder needs to declare and indicate that they have read and understood the document in full. Non completion of the declaration as mentioned above will lead to disqualification.

BACKGROUND

True to its mandate, "The maintenance and dissemination of the National Measurement Standards (NMS)", the National Metrology Institute of South Africa (NMISA) improves the competitiveness of the South African industry in support of the dti's strategic goals. This is supplemented by the NMISA's mission of "Through technical Innovation and dedication, maintain the National Measurement Units and Measurement Standards at an internationally recognized level, to the benefit of SA and the region".

In order for NMISA to prove equivalence of measurement with other nations and remain internationally competitive in the field of elemental analysis in the scanning electron microscope, the NMISA needs to purchase a high performance, high accuracy, energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy machine (EDS) based on silicon drift detector (SDD) technology. This equipment will be used to supply reference measurements to academia and the industry and also for performing international intercomparisons.

PURPOSE OF THE REQUEST

2.1

It is for this purpose, as stipulated above, that suppliers are invited to submit proposals for the supply, delivery and installation of the SDD EDS system including the processing system, software and accessories.

GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS

The official equipment specification documentation must be included in the tender.

Should the NMISA want proof of the claims made or request proof of performance it will have to be provided before the NMISA evaluation panel convenes.

The specifications listed below are preferred specifications. Non-compliance to individual specifications won’t necessarily lead to disqualification, but a clear alternative specification must be provided.
