Recycling of process water in the concrete industry - KLÄRFIX®

Why use a hoelschertechnic-gorator® process water recycling plant? Many concrete factories are permanently producing residual concrete and also rinsing water loaded with solids or active cement particles. This process water can be recycled thus reducing costs for fresh water and the disposal of waste water. In addition the solids can be reutilized.

Modular design allows individual solutions

Our concrete recycling plants consist of modular components which can be combined to suit the type of waste water contamination and the desired reutilization. The washout screw removes the coarse materials, sand and gravel, for reutilization. Depending on the required degree of purification, the sedimentation tower, the cyclone and the lamella clarifier continue to separate smaller solids from the waste water stream. The pH-value is regulated by a neutralising unit. In order to minimise the costs for disposal the remaining solid volume is reduced by dewatering and thickening processes. Various dewatering components such as sedimentation towers, dewatering containers or chamber filter presses are available for this purpose.

KLÄRFIX® washout screws for the separation of coarse materials

The proven hoelschertechnic-gorator® washout screw type KBS separates solids > 0.2 mm from the process water. By adding rinsing water the coarse materials, sand and gravel, are washed, then dewatered and discharged by passing through the screw. The water and the fine solids are stored or further treated.

Storage and transportation of solid-loaded waste water Process water occurs at different points of the plant and must be collected for further treatment. Therefore storage and transportation are of high importance for the whole process. Sediments and active solids in the waste water consistently affect the function of the plant. Trust in the experience of hoelschertechnic-gorator®.

The hoelschertechnic-gorator® submersible NSG pumps ensure a low-wear and durable operation.

The pumps are operated with easyto-maintain pump cranes.

Our submersible pumps are hung by chains in the agitation pool. Protective cages are used to secure them.

Agitators prevent sedimentation in the agitation pool.

hoelschertechnic-gorator® cyclone for the separation of fine materials The cyclone mechanically separates the solids from the process water with a cut-off size of up to 20 µm using the principle of centrifugal force.

The dewatering box allows continued thickening of the sludge discharged by the cyclone. 6

The cyclone on the move: One mobile cyclone unit can serve to reduce the density of residual water at several works. The disposal of residual water is no longer required.

hoelschertechnic-gorator® sedimentation tower for the separation of fine materials In the sedimentation tower KLÄRFIX® KWA the process water is conveyed with flocculation agents to the inlet cylinder. The agglomerated fine materials settle in the tank cone. The agitator ensures further thickening and prevents sedimentation on the sides of the tank. The purified process water moves upwards and is discharged via a clear water outlet trough.

Based on standard versions our KWA thickener can be designed on special request. Depending on application it is supplied with stilts or a frame, single-walled or double-walled, with heating and with insulation.

Less water - lower disposal costs

Unusable sludge must be stored and disposed of. hoelschertechnic-gorator® offers dewatering systems for reducing the sludge volume and simplifying handling. The cleaned water can be reutilised in the recycling process. The selection of the dewatering system depends on the quantity of sludge and the desired degree of dewatering. Dewatering container The dewatering container is equipped with a removable filter basket lined with a filter cloth. The filtrated water is drained between the outer casing and the filter basket. This container is used for compact dewatering of small quantities of regularly occurring sludge.

The hoelschertechnic-gorator® dewatering container with removable perforated plate basket and high-tensile filter cloth for the dewatering of sludge.

Sludge from a cyclone drained in a dewatering container

Chamber filter press - compact sludge guaranteed A chamber filter press achieves optimal dewatering results at high throughput. A high-pressure pump conveys the sludge into the chambers. The cleaned water passes through the filter cloth and is redirected into the recycling system. The dried sludge is collected between the plates and falls into a receptacle.

A fully automatic chamber filter press allows a high solid content which means low residual water at low staff costs.

Electronic intelligence The large data volume arising in our KLÄRFIX® plants is analysed and or visualized in various forms. We offer comprehensive integrated monitoring and reporting systems ranging from standard automation through the transmission of fault reports to process visualisation for optimal visual control and monitoring.

Made in Germany

Hardware and software for the recycling process are both produced by our company. The electrical documentation is generated by Elektro-CAD EPLAN®. Our switchboards are produced with state-of-the-art machinery. And the programming is carried out by our qualified staff.

Easy handling

The new generation of our KLÄRFIX® plants is controlled and operated by the high quality industrial automation systems of the company Siemens. These proven and solid systems offer numerous possibilities of extension and communication. Clearly arranged displays are based on text or graphics as requested.

Measurement - intelligent options for control and monitoring The ability to continuously display and record water levels lends to the comfort of controlling our plants. A continues measurement of density in the residual water guarantees an optimal washout result and a timely warning when limits are exceeded.

hoelschertechnic-gorator® KSW - the solution for readymixed concrete plants Each ready-mixed concrete plant permanently produces concrete residuals and process water with solids and active cement particles. These waste products can be completely recycled by our KLÄRFIX® recycling plant KSW thus making their disposal unnecessary. Process water as well as gravel and sand can be reutilised for production.

The core of our KLÄRFIX® recycling plant KSW consists of the washout screw KBS, the agitation pool, the submersible pumps and the control system. A scaffold provides the truck mixers with recycled rinsing water for rinsing the truck mixer drums and for liquefying the residual concrete. This liquid mixture is drained into a special rinsing funnel for further treatment in the washout screw. From the overflow the residual water is led to the agitation

pool, either a tower silo or to an underground concrete basin - depending on the customer’s preference. In order to prevent sedimentation the fine solids are kept in suspension by agitators. The residual water is completely reutilized for cleaning the truck mixers and for the production of fresh concrete. In compliance with the current rules and regulations, the dewatered aggregates discharged by the screw can also be reutilised.

The fully automatic control of all components minimises and simplifies the work of the plant staff and provides the basis of an efficient operation.
