Ray Knight Casting Limited TERMS AND CONDITIONS: CHARGES/FEES All engagements obtained through this Agency will be subject to 15% Agency commission on background/walk-on bookings and 20% Agency commission on drama, featured commercials, photographic and corporate work. These rates apply to all media. Repeats, residuals, royalties, buyouts, re-bookings and any further monies accruing directly or indirectly as a result of the original engagement will be charged at the same rates. Any subsequent engagement arising either directly or indirectly from any engagement through this Agency will be subject to the appropriate commission rates as above. Artistes included in our Agency Casting Book and website will be required to pay a contribution towards the annual cost. The charge is currently £50+VAT.This charge will only be levied against monies received on behalf of the Artiste. A copy of the current edition of the Agency Casting Book is available in our office.
PAYMENT Payments are made of cleared funds every Friday by the BACS system and it is the Artiste's responsibility to provide details to the Agency of a suitable account into which these can be made.
ENGAGEMENTS Artistes will be required to honour all engagements and hold themselves available for provisional bookings (pencils), and not make any other commitments on dates given until they have been advised accordingly by the Agency. It is the Artiste's responsibility to check the status of such provisional bookings with the Agency. Artistes must advise the Agency of any change of circumstances that affect their availability, work status or appearance, and if necessary have their photographs retaken by the Agency. It is important that Artistes are punctual for all engagements. If you have an out of hours problem, for example, you're running late or unforeseen circumstances that prohibit you being able to honour a booking, please call 020 7722 4111 and leave a clear message on our answerphone. One of the bookers is always on call and monitors the answerphone on a regular basis. We must stress that you inform us as soon as possible as it will give us time to find a replacement if necessary. All Artistes and models must inform the Agency of their wrap time and hours worked on photographic, pop promos, corporate videos and commercials assignments as soon as possible. Hair, make-up and wardrobe instructions must be carefully adhered to where applicable.
CONFIDENTIALITY From time to time you may be exposed to various drama storylines; disclosure of these plots to the media or third parties will not be tolerated. Similarly you are bound to keep confidential all script and cast details that you may be advised of or become aware of. No form of recording or photography device can be taken into any areas of production. The photographs that are taken by the Agency's photographer cannot be used by the artistes, the copyright remains with the Agency. All contact with Clients and Employers must be through Ray Knight Casting Ltd. TERMINATION OF AGREEMENT We reserve the right to remove immediately from the Agency any person who in our opinion does not maintain the highest possible professional standards or who does not abide by these Terms and Conditions. Artistes may terminate this Agreement at any time. These terms and conditions can be amended or altered by Ray Knight Casting Limited at any time subject to written notification. Ray Knight Casting Guidelines For Artistes
Rates Of Pay All our television and film work is paid according to existing union agreements. For other jobs not covered by these agreements we will negotiate rates in accordance with industry standards or arrive at a figure that we feel reflects the requirements of the booking. A guideline for a standard day as a Supporting Artiste is approximately £90.00. You can find a summary of the various rates on our website at www.rayknight.co.uk.
Availability And Bookings If a booker enquires about your availability on a certain day (or days) you must ensure that you are fully available for the whole day (with no evening commitments) as we rarely know wrap times in advance. Do not say “yes” to any job if you are in any way doubtful about your availability. It causes great inconvenience and extra work for both us and production when artistes pull out of bookings and does not reflect professional standards on the artiste or the agency. When accepting a booking, you must accurately write down the name of the production, the dates involved and the name of the booker you are dealing with. Efficient diary management is essential. If you are “pencilled” for a job, you must honour it and not accept any other work for that day. If you are offered a booking for the same date from elsewhere, you may check with us on the status of your pencil, but you should not accept the other job until we release you. If you need to book out with us for a week or more (e.g. going on holiday) please call and we will make a note on the database.
Call Details We are not usually given call times or the location address until the day before the job, so please do not ask lots of questions in advance. We will text you with the details in the afternoon of the day before you are due to work. If you are working over a weekend or on a Monday, you will receive your details on the preceding Friday. As soon as you receive the text, you must CALL the office to confirm with us that you have received it (you cannot text us back, please use 020 7722 4111). If you know beforehand that you will not be able to use your phone around this time, then please let us know in advance so we are aware that you haven’t disappeared and do not need replacing on the job. If you miss us during office hours you need to leave a clear message on our answerphone (which is constantly monitored out of hours, see “Out of hours problems” below).
Wardrobe/Costume Requirements Your wardrobe requirements will usually be sent out to you via text along with your call time. However, in some cases the costume department from the production may text or call you directly with their requirements. Please be attentive to your phone in these instances. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU HAVE VOICEMAIL SET UP.
Time Keeping And Attendance YOU MUST BE ON TIME FOR ALL YOUR JOBS. Punctuality is essential in this business and we take time keeping very seriously at this agency. It is better to be half an hour early than five minutes late. You should carefully plan your journey in advance and allow plenty of time for travel. Maps, directions and public transport scheduling are freely available and you need to be resourceful in getting your destination.
Paperwork On filming days, you may be asked to complete an Artiste Salary Voucher or sign a “timesheet”. Please write clearly and always have your National Insurance number to hand as you will usually need to write it on the forms. You may also be asked to fill in a “release form” on certain jobs (eg. commercials) as consent to broadcast. If you ever feel there has been an error (eg. you have not been given the relevant upgrades, overtime etc. that you believe are due to you) then CALL US AT THE AGENCY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE (020 7722 4111). Please avoid confrontation with the production staff and do not sign anything that you are disputing. We are here to protect your interests and to negotiate on your behalf.
Out Of Hours Problems If you have a genuine problem such as illness, or you are running late then call the office as soon as possible (020 7722 4111) and leave a message (a staff member is always on call and the answerphone is monitored constantly - every morning, evening and all weekend). It is essential that you do this so we can either phone ahead and keep the production company informed or replace you as soon as possible if necessary. Always contact us by phone – DO NOT EMAIL.
Payments/Accounts Department If you have an accounts query, you may contact us on the usual number between 10.00am – 11.00am Monday to Friday. This is the only time you may do so. Alternatively, you can email Amanda at
[email protected] (please include all relevant dates, figures and references). We pay out as efficiently as is possible once we have received cleared funds. Please be aware that this is unfortunately a slow paying industry. As a general rule, TV and film jobs take roughly six to eight weeks to pay and sometimes longer for photographic, commercial and corporate work. Nonetheless, we do a “pay-run” every Friday. These funds are usually cleared in the recipients account by the middle of the following week. Around this time we will email you a “remittance advice” with a breakdown of exactly what you have been paid for, showing any additions, deductions, National Insurance etc. You should keep copies of all paper work for reference and for tax purposes. This is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
General Conduct At Ray Knight Casting we expect the highest standards of professionalism from our artistes. You need to be communicative, efficient and swift in dealing with us. On set we expect you to be patient and cooperative and comply politely with instructions from the crew. Keep your mobile phone off and be quiet and respectful while filming is taking place. Do not take photographs or approach the principal artistes. Be mindful that you are representing both yourself and the agency and we will not tolerate poor conduct or unprofessional behaviour.
