1.

Introduction

Nepal Children's Organization (NCO) is a Non-Governmental, autonomous, non-profitable and self-governing organization established in 1964 AD (2021 BS) under the National Direction Act - 2018 (1961 AD). NCO is also popularly known as Balmandir (The Children's Temple). The objective of this organization is to work of Nepalese children by protecting and promoting their rights as well as by providing residential care to the children at risk, enabling them to survive and succeed. It has the most extensive programs for childcare and development with extensive geographical coverage in the county. It focuses on child care and education for orphans, abandoned and conflict affected children; rehabilitation of dependent children of prisoners; promotion of children's rights; national and international adoption of children; educational support to children from low income families; and strengthening the capacity of its nationwide network. NCO envisions developing a new society for children, where the rights of each child is assured which could lead them to live a dignified life. It focuses to protect and promote children's rights as per the Convention on the Rights of the Child. This organization has some specific objectives like to organize child rights activities (awareness, advocacy and campaign), eliminate all forms of abuse, exploitation and injustice against the children, secure dignified future of the children at risk by providing them available best care, create pressure for ratification of international Conventions relating to the children, create pressure for formulation of laws for the best interest of the children, be proactive for the implementation of national, regional and international legal instruments including CRC 1989, provide solidarity support with the child rights protection activities. Presently it is conducting awareness program focus on child rights. It proving shelter to 600 children. It conducts educational and occupational Trainings, scholarship Programs, rehabilitation and reintegration, health, recreation & extracurricular activities, District support program, Adoption program, Reconstruction of infrastructures, Psycho-social counseling, Kindergarten & Toddler Classes operation Publication (Balak; Bulletin Souvenier 'Awaaz'; Calendar; Post-card; other children Magazine), Children Clubs, Income Generating program, Radio program (Hamro Bal Mandir), Regular annual functions (Children's Day celebration; winter day camp; CRC day celebration; day against child labour). It has about 813 District Executive Committee Members and 4,000 volunteer members. There were 127 staff members and 25 volunteers appointed by central office and more than 200 staffs were working in district offices. NCO provides education more than 10,000 children all over Nepal and about 600 children are being protected in different NCO's children homes in different 73 districts. Besides these training teachers, care mothers and professionals on best practices for working with children. It also provides health services, educational support 2

and distribution of nutritional food items to children and low income families. Also conducting child rights advocacy programs through training and education. Bishwo Aastha Advertising Agency Pvt. Ltd. is a supporting organization in different activities of NCO for last 5 years. Besides its business it supports to different non-profitable organizations as a media partner. It has been supporting in different aspects of operation of NCO for last five years.

Proposed Programs We have been planning to conduct different activities to promote NCO. We are planning to conduct the following programs. 1. Anniversary Celebration program 2. Publishing Spectrum 3. Continue monthly children focus bulletin 'Balak' 4. Prepare a dynamic and exclusive website 5. Inter-School competition on Essay, Art, Dance, Group Child Song and Quiz. 6. Concert

Need Assessment (Statement of the Problem)

Though NCO is a non-profitable organization, operational cost of this organization is borne through governmental incentive, donation & gift received by different individual and organizations, support from national and international NGOs, membership fee, adoption donation, amount acquired from the movable and immovable property of NCO, and other income generating program, sponsorship program. We have own structure and staffs for operation this institution but due to lack of technical workers we will not be able to conduction the proposed program. We have appointed a supporting organization Bishwo Aastha Advertising Agency to support technically to conduct above mentioned programs and continue to publishing monthly children focus bulletin 'Balak'.

3.

Approach

This program is designed for the promotion and support to NCO sustainably. The program also proposed to publish a Spectrum before golden Jubilee. In golden jubilee program we have planned to call Prime Minister, Ministers, Secretariats, ex-ministers, ambassador of different countries, persons of international and national repute, past students from NCO, adopted students from NCO, Adopted child parents etc. 3

Goal

The major goal of this proposal is to promote strength and provide sustainable momentum of NCO.

5.

Objectives

The broad objective of this proposal is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of NCO and publishing NCO and children focused spectrum and bulletin. Some specific objectives are:  Implementing organization will coordinate with past students of NCO and other possible supporting organizations;  Celebrating 50th anniversary program in August 20, 2014;  Publishing colored spectrum during anniversary in August 10, 2014;  Continuing and publishing monthly bulletin 'Balak' from May 2014;  Supporting organization and NCO will design and operate dynamic website.

Activities 1. Coordination: According to MoU supporting organization will coordinate with past students form NCO and other possible supporting organizations from national and international level. We assume that most of the past students and organizations will contribute this proposal. Past students 

Search students from different sources like past record from NCO and other sources.



List out past students then contact them through personal contact, email, social media etc.



Distribute concept paper/proposal to them through personal contact, email, and social media etc. for support and their success story for publishing.



Finalize list according to their interest of support.

Supporting Organizations 

Listing related possible supporting organizations through different sources.



Arrange meeting with them individually and provide concept paper/proposal to listing organization.



Explain about concept paper/proposal for support.

Collect positive or negative feedback from organizations and improve according to their suggestions.



Finalize the supporting organization list according to their interest of support.

2. Celebration of 50th Anniversary: Fiftieth anniversary program is in August 20, 2014. Planning this program accordingly: 

Formation of celebration committee and work division according to their expertise.



Finalize program schedule through consultation.



Prepare a list of possible guests and participants.



Organize individual meeting with possible guests and participants and then finalize list of guests and participants.



Listing related possible anniversary program supporting organization through different sources.



Arrange meeting with them individually and provide concept paper/proposal/program detail to listing organizations.



Finalize the supporting role of organizations.



Arrange meeting with social audiovisual media for live broadcast of the program.



Distribute responsibilities to different committee members during final arrangement of anniversary program



Search for volunteer workers for anniversary program.



Coordinating and arrange hospitality management for international participants.

5. Design Website: Design website and promote it for fund collection for NCO. This website will operate by NCO and support by implementing organization. Some advertisement will collect for sustainability and conducting this website regularly. 6. Inter-School competition on Essay, Art, Dance, Group Child Song and Quiz. Inter-School competition start on 22nd Shrawan and finalize on 2nd Bhadra 2071. All required cost for this proposed program will burn through registration. 7. Concert National and International celebrities will perform during concert. The proposed venue for this program is Sanogaucharan Kathmandu. Fund will managed through ticketing and sponsoring from different organizations. Concert ticket will include different discount offers from different business parties.

Monitoring and Evaluation

Supporting organization and NCO will monitor directly of this progress, process and program. Collected fund will published and submit financial report to supporting organization and NCO after the program.

8.

Collaboration with Other Organizations

NCO looks for other supporting and collaborating individuals and organizations for the conduction of proposed programs. Also, interest to collaborate long-term helping organizations directly or indirectly and coordinate with financial and material donors forever. For the sustainability and regulating this organization, NCO looking for helping hands forever.

9.

Sustainability

Sustainability is one major part of any organization and programs. NCO will continue this anniversary program, publishing spectrum annually. However, in case of monthly bulletin 'Balak' will continue from this month and distribute throughout Nepal. Further children related bulletin, child right focus booklets, child capacity building programs will conduct and publish in future.

Publish Monthly Bulletin 'Balak'

Monthly Bulletin will publish in normal paper with outside cover in colored form. Supporting agency supposed to publish bulletin in networking strategy. The method of collecting materials from different parts of the nations i.e. articles, news, event article/news strategic supporting feeder fee model. In addition, supporting agency will provide bulletin free of cost to NCO 300 copies of each publication in first year, 400 copies in second year and 500 copies in rest of years. This bulletin will sell to different parts of Nepal (proposed previous rate is Rs. 35) for the promotion of NCO and promote children knowledge and activities all over the nation.
