Bench-Top Pin/Scribe Markers Bench-top Pin/Scribe marking machines are a cost-effective method of permanently marking products. They have different marking area sizes for different applications and are available as either pneumatic or electromechanical units. CO2 Laser Systems and Laser Paste Marking Engineering offers the CO2 systems in either a galvanometer design or a gantry design, depending on the customer’s application. The gantry CO2 is designed for cutting and engraving organic type materials, and are an excellent choice for arts and crafts, rubberstamp manufacturers, promotional businesses, etc. The galvanometer laser system can mark variable data, logos and barcodes either on-the-fly or in a stationary position and can be integrated into the customer’s production line. The company offers non-hazardous and environmentally-friendly laser marking paste, designed to create a black mark on most metal types. It is user-friendly, quick-drying and easy to wash after laser marking.

Laser Applications nd:Yag and Fiber laser systems are used to create contrasting marks on all metals and certain plastics. These systems are also used for the manufacturing of tamper-evident labels. Interchangeable Types and Holders These provide a solution for all batch and general purpose marking. Complete font sets are available in sizes from 1 mm to 10 mm, consisting of 100 pieces and a type holder. Types can be used in a hand holder for manual hand and hammer use, or in a machine holder and press. The range is available in standard, dot stress, low stress and reverse types.

Hand Stamps / Punches Handheld stamps are used for single character marking, and can mark anything from the softest metal types to a maximum hardness of 38 RC. The stamps come in a choice of character sizes and formations, and are available in standard, reverse, heavy duty, low stress and dot stress punches. A punch safety grip is also available as a value-added accessory.

Numbering Heads Manual and automatic indexing units are ideal for modifying inscriptions and batch marking. Manual numbering heads can be used by hand, hammer or press, while automatic numbering heads will fit most types of marking machines and presses. This allows for fast, accurate and consecutive marking. Models are available as finger release units, finger pawl units and automatic units.

Percussion Presses Marking Engineering stocks a comprehensive range of compact hand-operated and pneumatically powered percussion presses. Hand-operated presses are user-friendly and offer a large work table. They come standard with three varying strength springs, hexagon keys and spanners. Pneumatically powered presses are manual presses with the addition of an air cylinder to actuate the ram. They are compact and versatile, and serve as the ideal solution for fitting into automated production lines.

Roll Marking Machines Roll markers are designed to stamp solid or hollow cylindrical parts. Marking Engineering supplies both manual and pneumatic roll markers, which are available in different sizes, with a wide range of accessories. A built-in tolerance equalisation system protects both the machine and the component being marked, thereby ensuring high continuous mark performance with minimal effort. The entire range of Marking Engineering roll markers can be customised to exact specifications.

Customised Dies and Stamps Customised dies or stamps are manufactured to client specifications to suit various presses and holders. They can be flat or contoured, and heat treatment ensures consistency and hardness.

Inkjet Systems Marking Engineering boasts with a mobile and compact inkjet range that marks products and packaging swiftly and efficiently. The inkjet range is easy to programme, and can print on flat, uneven, rigid or soft surfaces silently. Print layouts can be designed on a PC using specially developed software, which can be deployed on all standard Windows operating systems. Using the MP ink, it is possible to also print onto non-porous surfaces such as metal and plastic. Another important factor is that the ink is fast-drying, which ultimately eliminates smudge. Certain units are suitable for automatic applications too.

Acid Etching Systems Electrolytic marking is based on an electro-chemical etching process, which transmits text or images via a stencil onto an electrically conductive product through the action of electrolyte and current, which provides almost unlimited graphic possibilities. Acid etching systems can provide a cost-effective and permanent mark on flat, round, concave and convex surfaces without the risk of corrosion or material deterioration.

Brass Interlocking Stencils These are available in letters and numbers, ranging in size from 25 mm to 150 mm, which can be used with spray ink, brush, paint or markers. Brass stencils allow for the quick creation of legible signs on all surfaces, and are easy to clean after use. What’s more, the durability of brass ensures that the Marking Engineering range of interlocking stencils provide the user with a lasting service.

Stencil Machines and Oil Board Industrial hand-operated stencil machines are designed to cut custom stencils from an oil-based stencil board. Case hardened dies have wear-proof cutting edges, while the alloy punch is more robust, durable and corrosion-resistant than steel. The oil board lubricates punches and dies for an extended machine life, and boasts an unlimited shelf life.

Permanent Marking Pens Permanent paint marking pens with a ball point tip enables users to mark metal, plastic, glass, textiles, wood, concrete and cardboard. The Marking Engineering range of permanent marking pens dries in under 30 seconds, and can permanently mark any smooth or semi-rough surface. The pens are available in a variety of colours, can withstand extreme temperatures, and are resistant to drying out.

Tamper-Evident Labels Marking Engineering’s tamper-evident labels are not removable without destruction, and offer white marking on a black background, as well as a linear barcode and data matrix. Marking and cutting is performed in one operation, and can include personalisation, serialisation and logos - with any shaped label being possible. These labels can adhere to almost any surface and shape, and attempted manipulation will leave visible traces. The tamper-evident labels are resistant to abrasion, UV and chemicals, and can withstand temperatures of up to 2 700oC. Another advantage is that they require no flammable adhesive activation agent, such as acetone. Marking Engineering tamper-evident labels are more aesthetically-pleasing and thinner and lighter than aluminium, making it easier and more cost-effective to transport. The durability of the product ensures a long shelf life, and customers are also guaranteed short manufacturing lead times. 29
