DIAL GAUGES INSTRUMENTS

RAMBOLD - Precision gauges have successfully fulfilled the high requirements of precision gauges for 50 years now. Excellent metering characteristics, solid manufacturing and extraordinary durability in appropriate use distinguish the metering instruments described in this catalogue. Metering instruments and indicating calipers are linear indicating measuring instruments which use a mechanical system to transmit the spindle path to a pointer. The pointer movement can be read from a regularly partitioned stroke scale. Lever gauges are equipped with angle-movable gauge slides. The gauge slide excursion also is transmitted via a mechanical system to a pointer which moves in front of a regularly partitioned stroke scale. The following constructive features are to be especially emphasized: ■ All gauges are equipped with an extraordinary solid metal metering housing for the smooth running metering device.

■ The gauges and indicating calipers generally are inserted at the standardized clamping shank with a diameter of 8h6. This clamping shank has been manufactured of stainless steel, is hardened and microfinished. ■ The location hole measures 8H7 in diameter. On request the gauges can be equipped with a rear chucking bolt. ■ The gauges and metering instruments either are tested according to the respective DIN standard applicable or according to strict in-house standards and offer an utmost of accuracy and security. ■ The spindle has been manufactured of stainless steel, is grinded and microfinished. ■ In the initial position the pointers are set to zero. So the metering device will be under normal engagement conditions in the zero position and metering can directly be carried out. ■ The tolerance marks are for accurate setting of the desired dimensions. If requested the gauges can also be delivered without tolerance marks. Standard splash-proof gauges are not equipped with tolerance marks.

■ The gauge slides can be exchanged at any time and can be replaced with special gauge slides with connecting thread M 2,5. ■ Smooth running, easy to read and virtually constant measuring pressure guarantee rational and accurate metering at any time. This catalogue can only give an overview of our versatile wide range of manufacturing. Please feel free to ask for your specific kind of gauges and metering instruments. We will find a solution for your metering requir ments. We offer custom models as well as repair service. Constructive adjustments and design modifications due to technical developments are reserved. Offers are subject to our General Terms of Delivery.

W : Splash-proof model, with fixed glass ring, without tolerance marks

In case of the shock-proof models the the metering gearing is protected against damages caused by shocks of the feeling bar to guarantee the accuracy in metering. The metering range is limited to less than a complete pointer rotation in order to avoid erronneous readings. This guarantees SAFETY in all metering proceedings. Because of the extended free lift inserting of samples can be handled very easily. The splash-proof gauges are equipped with a bellow preventing that moisture and dirt enter into the housing. These gauges are additionally equipped with an upper protecting cap and a rear sealing. Together with the special non-rotable glass ring without tolerance marks this equipment provides a very effective sealing against oil and splash-water. If required the gauges optionally can be equipped at a surplus price price with tolerance marks. Almost all types can be supplies in inch dimensions. Custom-made models are manufactured according to drawings and requirements.

Hardness testing gauge Shore A

The RAMBOLD – hardness testing gauge MUS 221 is a handy, pocket-size precision gauge for determining the Shore A – hardness according to DIN 53 505. It is used for testing of samples and manufactured articels made of soft rubber, caoutchouc, soft plastics and similar plastics. The nickel-plated, solid yellow brass housing with an outside diameter of 58 mm was taken over from the well-known and well-proven RAMBOLD – precision gauges. The penetrating stamp has been realized in form of a truncated cone. In an unloaded condition the penetrating stamp stands out by 2,50 mm from the supporting surface of the hardness testing gauge. Via a ball-bearing shaft it is connected to a metering spring. When placing the gauge onto the sample to be tested the penetrating stamp will be pushed until the resistance force of the sample to be tested has been balanced with the reacting force. The path gone by the penetrating stamp is proportional to the Shore hardness and is transmitted via a metering gauge with pointer to a centesimal round stroke scale which directly shows the Shore hardness. Each scale spacing corresponds to a Shore-A- hardness. During the testing procedure the hardness gauge is pressed in a vibrationless way with the prescribed pressing force of 12,5 N against the sample to be tested until the supporting surface closely fits. Three seconds after the supporting surface has touched the sample to be tested the hardness can be read from the gauge. In the case of samples with distinct flow properties the hardness can also be read after a longer pressing time. Shore hardness

MEASURING THE TOOTH HEIGHT DIFFERENTIAL (only WB 32 universal) → Release lever (3) of the dial indicator (4). → Place the support bars (7) of the instrument vertically on the tips of the beveled teeth (see illustration). Caution! Care should be taken not to scratch the cross hair of the lens. Note: Measuring edge (5) of the dial indicator (4) must be positioned on the top of the square tooth. → Set the dial indicator (4) in position 0. → Next place the instrument on the tips of the two square teeth. (7) → The height differential of the beveled and square teeth can now be read directly on the dial indicator (4).

6 Knurled nut 7 Support bars

10/2004 - Modification reserved!

All measurements for tooth angles should be taken directly from the square teeth as these are more reliable than when taken from the beveled teeth. → Measurement should be taken with the blade held in a clock-wise direction, that is, the teeth pointing to the right. → Place pointer (1) by using lever (2) to the 0 position → Depress lever (3) of the dial indicator (4) downward to lock the measuring edge (5) in its „up“ position. → Loosen knurled nuts (6) and adjust the support bars (7) symmetrically according to the tooth pitch. The symmetry can be checked by observing the markings on the guide track for the knurled nuts. Note: The tooth to me measured must be properly positioned on the support bar surfaces (7). → These surfaces must lie on the tips of the beveled teeth. The instrument must then be pushed back so that the blade is against the vertical backing guide. Caution! Care should be taken not to scratch the cross hair of the lens. → The tooth shape will now appear in lens (8) magnified approximately 7 times. → Line up the horizontal cross hair (9) with the top of the tooth using the knurled screw (11). → Move the instrument sideways until the vertical cross hair (10) lines up with the tooth point. → Adjust lever (2) until the vertical cross hair (10) lines up with the face of the tooth. (II) Cutting angle γ can now be read on the angle scale (12). → Adjust lens (2) in a downward direction until the horizontal cross hair (9) is lined up with the top of the tooth (III). The clearance angle α can now be read on the angle scale (12).
