PARTNERSHIP PROPOSAL

WELCOME BE PART OF THE BEST EDUCATIONAL EVENT IN SHANGHAI Following the success of the celebrated ‘Festival of Education’ held annually at Wellington in the UK, Wellington College Festival of Education aims to become one of the most important, informative, interesting and inspirational events of the education calendar in Shanghai. Between Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd October, the Festival will bring together experts in education from the UK, China and the rest of the world who will present a variety of talks, lead workshops, and take part in panel discussions that will stimulate thinking about education. Wellington College Festival of Education is an event designed to stimulate debate and purposeful thinking about educational issues. In a world that moves at an astonishing pace and in which notions of ‘skills’ and ‘jobs’ are developing at similar rates, education is having to adapt and respond to all kinds of testing situations.

THIS IS A FESTIVAL The Festival is structured around three broad strands of inquiry:

INNOVATIONS Experts whose business it is to think in fresh ways about the educational environment will describe alternatives to more traditional approaches to teaching. This ‘otherness’ can sometimes complement accepted ideology though it often confounds it in radical ways. How should schools be built? What should be taught in schools? Is our sense of ‘learning’ outdated?

EXPLORATIONS Speakers will scrutinise selected areas of educational thinking, examining in depth the ways in which they work and how they might be applied in the classroom. Here, rigorous thinking will be applied to existing models of teaching, holding them up to scrutiny and trying to find ways in which schooling can be enriched.

INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES The benefits and limitations of localised and international education will be considered from a variety of viewpoints. Not only are different countries now aware of other, global and occasionally competing pedagogical practices, but they have to consider their value in societies that are comprised, increasingly, of different ethnic groups. How can education purposefully meet this kind of fragmentation?’

TARGET AUDIENCE With high quality sessions delivered by over 20 speakers in 2016, Wellington College Festival of Education is about engaging with an audience interested in the future of education. The Festival’s audience is comprised of senior leaders as well as teachers from a number of international and local schools in Shanghai. It also aims to inspire over 600 families from the Wellington community including Wellington College International Shanghai, Wellington College International Tianjin, Wellington College Bilingual Tianjin, Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai and the wider community. We are seeking supporters and partners to participate and engage by providing knowledge, content, workshops, activities and sessions, in a variety of fields. This is a unique opportunity to have your organisation represented, in front of over 500 inspiring educationalists and to showcase your contribution to education. There are a variety of opportunities available for this year’s Festival. Outlined in this document are a series of packages and options.

We look forward to working with you on the best educational event of the year in Shanghai.
