Outlook Express Setup Guide This is an introductory guide on how to setup Outlook Express with a new email service. By following these basic steps you will be able to quickly setup your Outlook Express with your Highway 1 (Global Dial or EON) hosted email. Please note that you’ll need to contact us to create the new email address. You can then use Outlook to access it. Step 1. Open Outlook Express 1. Open Outlook Express. 2. Enable SMTP Authentication We require you to authenticate (send your username and password) with our server before you can send email from your computer via Highway 1. This prevents non-Highway 1 subscribers sending email from our servers. To configure this do the following in Outlook Express: 1. Highlight the new account you created. By default it is called "mail.highway1.com.au" 2. Click on the "Properties" button on the left. 3. Click on the "Servers" Tab 4. Check the "My Server Requires Authentication"

Outlook Express Setup Guide Step 10. Secure POP3 Setup (Optional) If you use IMAP skip to step 11. The following settings are optional if you use POP3 to collect email. If you would like to encrypt the transmission of the email to and from Highway 1 to your computer do the following: 1. Click 'Advanced' tab. 2. Under SMTP section, check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)." 3. Under the POP3 section, check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)." 4. The incoming mail (POP3): number will then automatically change to "995". 5. Click OK. 6. Click Close. 7. You are all set up.
