DIALOGUE - Ordering Room Service Mr. Kim: Is room service still available? Maria: Yes, sir. We have room service available until 11 p.m. Mr. Kim: I would like to place an order. Maria: Certainly. My name is Maria. What would you like delivered this evening? Mr. Kim: The menu in the room has breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections. Can I order any meal? Maria: Yes, you can. All three meals are available during room service hours. Mr. Kim: That’s wonderful. I’d like to order a small salad, a turkey club, a side order of potato chips, and a glass of orange juice. Maria: Would you like anything for dessert? Mr. Kim: A piece of chocolate cake, please. Maria: That’ll be a $14 dollars plus delivery fee and gratuity. Mr. Kim: What is the charge for delivery? Maria: Two dollars. Mr. Kim: And what is the gratuity? Maria: The tip will be calculated in automatically at 18% unless you’d like to give the delivery person money upon arrival. Mr. Kim: That’s a lot of money. (Pause). Oh, I see the note at the bottom of the menu that says that now. Maria: Would you still like the order? Mr. Kim: Yes, I’m hungry since my plane arrived so late. Maria: What is your room number? Mr. Kim: 711. Maria: I’ll have your meal sent as soon as it’s ready. Mr. Kim: Do you know about how long it’ll take? Maria: It’ll be about 30 minutes or so. Mr. Kim: Thanks. I’m sure it’ll be tasty. Maria: I hope you’ll enjoy the meal.
