A death has occurred, what do I do now? • Contact a mortuary of choice • Mortuary will pick-up body from any location • Meet with mortuary to begin funeral arrangements • Come to District cemetery to select a space and make interment service arrangements • Hold service and perform interment

When the District receives a call from a customer, what happens? • Staff will inform family to contact mortuary • Staff provides information on district services, including options and pricing • Staff will schedule an appointment to select space and make interment arrangements • Family will come to cemetery on scheduled date and time • At-need walk in families will be seen ASAP 3

First Call Processing Checklist • Prior to meeting with family, staff will collect pertinent information regarding the family and decedent: • Decedent’s Name, Address, Date of Birth/Death, Name of Next of Kin, Phone Number • Mortuary selected to assist • Desired Date & Time of Interment Service • Any Pre-Need with District

• Information collected is used to prepare staff in advance of meeting with family, verify residency eligibility and gather pre-need records 4

What happens in an appointment? • Family arrives, is welcomed and placed into the arrangement room or office • Staff reviews or collects (if walk-in) first call information with family • Staff discusses services offered by the District and how it is coordinated with mortuary or church services • Staff reviews fees with family • With use of golf cart, family is taken on a tour of grounds to determine desired location or to verify pre-need purchased space • Family selects interment location or niche • Staff utilizes map books and verifies space availability with administrative staff via cell phone 5

What happens in an appointment? (cont.) • Family & staff return to office • Space purchase is entered into Cemsafe database • Staff discusses and confirms service time and date with family • Space and interment service fees are discussed and invoice is developed • Staff reviews invoice on computer screen with family to confirm their request • Funds are collected by either cash, check or credit card • Receipt is generated and reviewed by family 6

What happens in an appointment? (cont.) • Interment order is generated and signed by next of kin and lot owner (if different) • Copy of rules and regulations is reviewed and provided • Copies of documents are placed into folder and given to family • After family leaves, staff will: – – – –

Call Mortuary to confirm date and time of service Call to order vault/schedule service delivery Place service on interment board Create temporary marker, name for entry board and work order for staff – Confirm interment location by placing temporary marker – Provide staff with work order and entry board name – Provide District office with copies of paperwork & payment

• On day of service, staff verifies interment site is set-up 7

What will the interment set-up look like and what happens? • Upon entry, the service board will list the decedent’s last name next to a colored arrow to follow to interment location • Interment Crew will place directional arrows to exact site where family & visitors park • Mortuary will park coach (hearse) in front of location • •

Staff will have canopy and 12 chairs set-up for immediate family (sometimes other items as requested, i.e. table, podium, etc.) Interment Crew will oversee placement of casket and collect burial permit Interment Crew oversee service off to the side of the set-up Mortuary staff and/or Clergy will conduct service When service is concluded, the interment is completed by Interment Crew 8

When does the memorial marker get placed on interment space? • Family will place marker order with vendor of choice • Marker usually take 4-6 weeks to be developed and delivered to cemetery • When marker is received, it is placed in maintenance yard. Staff will record marker delivery

• Within 5-7 business days, staff will set marker and flower vase upon verification that marker setting fee was paid • Once marker is set, staff calls and informs family that marker has been set on interment space 9
