Online Banking Direct Connect to Direct Connect Conversion QuickBooks Windows 2008-2011

As Fifth Third Bank completes its bill pay system conversion, you will need to modify your QuickBooks settings to ensure the smooth transition of your data. You will need your Fifth Third Internet Banking ID and password. It is important that you perform the following instructions exactly as described and in the order presented. If you do not, your Quicken online banking service may stop functioning properly. This conversion should take about 15 minutes.

This update is time sensitive and should be completed immediately. Note: The QuickBooks Windows Online Banking module has not changed. The product interface may look different; however, the steps that follow will work for all versions of QuickBooks 2008-2011. This detour symbol indicates section instructions that are for customers that use Bill Pay within QuickBooks only. If you are not a bill pay customer, you can skip these sections or steps.

CONFIRM YOU ARE AN INTERNET BANKING USER In order to confirm that your accounts have been successfully converted to the new bill payment system, please follow these steps: 1. Log in to Fifth Third Bank Internet Banking at www.53.com using your login credentials. 2. Click on the “Make Payments” tab. 3. You should see the new Bill Payment format, with the new Manage Your Payees section at the top. 4. Log out of Internet Banking and move to the next steps. BACK UP YOUR CURRENT DATA 1. Choose File menu  Save Copy or Backup

2. Select “Backup Copy” from the type of file you want to save. Click “Next” button.

3. Select “Local backup.” Click “Next” button.

4. Specify where you want the backup saved, and then click OK.

5. Select “Save it Now”, and then click “Next” button.

6. Confirm filename, and click “Save” button.

DELETE PENDING ONLINE PAYMENTS ACCEPT ALL DOWNLOADED TRANSACTIONS (Bill Pay customers only)

1. Click Online Banking toolbar. 2. Select Fifth Third Bank from the Financial Institution dropdown. If there are transactions to be reviewed (on the bottom pane), click the “Add Transaction to QuickBooks” button.

3. If there are downloaded transactions that did not match, the following window will appear. You must delete all unmatched transactions. All transactions must either be matched to existing transactions or deleted prior to continuing.

4. Select all unmatched items to be deleted. Click the “Delete Selected” button.

If you do not see any unpaid online payments, skip this section. 1. Choose Lists menu  Chart of Accounts. 2. Double-click your Fifth Third Bank account listed in the Chart of Accounts used for online payments. This will open the register.

Click Print… to save a hard copy of your account register. You can use this summary when your recreate and send these payments after the conversion. 3. Select an online payment that is scheduled to be paid after 09/15/2011. Choose Edit menu  Cancel Payment. Click Yes to confirm the cancellation. 4. Repeat step 3 to cancel each payment scheduled to be paid after 09/15/2011. 5. Choose Banking menu  Online Banking  Online Banking Center  Click Go Online 6. Enter your password when prompted, and click OK.

Once you cancel each pending online payment, it displays as “VOID: by request of online banking payment.”

DEACTIVATE ONLINE BANKING

1. Choose Lists menu  Chart of Accounts. 2. Right-click on your first account. 3. Select Edit Account.

4. Click on the “Online Services” tab. Select the radio button “Deactivate All Online Services.”

5. Click Save & Close  a QuickBooks Information box will prompt (below)  click OK to continue.

6. If there are still transactions to review from the prior step, you will see the following error message:

7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 for each account from which you download.

ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT with DIRECT CONNECT

1.

Choose Lists menu  Chart of Accounts

2. Right-click on your account. 3. Select Edit Account from the pop-up menu. 4. Select Set Up Online Services…  QuickBooks will prompt to Temporarily Close All Windows  Click Yes to proceed in setting up online banking.

Select your financial institution, “Fifth Third Bank - New”  click next.

Select the first radio button for “I have my special QuickBooks online services PIN.” Ignore the note about your bank’s password. Click Next.

7. You will be prompted to Sign In. You must enter your Fifth Third Bank Internet Banking user ID and Password  click Sign In to continue.

8. QuickBooks will retrieve a list of accounts available for you to download  select the account you want to download and follow the remaining on-screen instructions.

9. When the first download completes successfully your account setup is complete  click Finish  QuickBooks will now launch the Online Banking Center.

If you are a Bill Pay user, ensure that you check the box to activate Online Bill Payments.

If you do not see the checkbox to “Activate Online Bill Payments” (above), you will need to update your account to ensure “Online Bill Payments” functionality is activated. To do this, navigate to “Edit Account”, select the “Online Services” tab, and ensure the “Online Bill Payments” checkbox is selected.
