1.

How do I log in to NWEA/MAP?

There is a link to the NWEA site on the KUSD website. From the KUSD home page, choose Staff Information and find the link to MAP. If you can’t remember your password, click on the link on the MAP sign on screen to request a new, temporary, password.

2.

How do I create a Test Session?

Follow these steps to create a Test Session: • • • • • • • •

Log in to MAP Select Manage Test Sessions Choose Find Students to Test (or you may choose Test My Class) Narrow Search - School, Instructor Name, Grade Add Students Click the box at the top to check all students to assign the same test to all Click Assign Test, select the correct test from menu and choose Assign Scroll down, save and name the Test Session (Remember-the students will have to type this name, so keep it simple!)

If you are unable to see Manage Test Sessions, please contact the Help Desk so that we can assign the Proctor role to your MAP profile. Please be aware that if you create a test session before the test window has opened, the dates may indicate a term other than the one you intend. This will be resolved when the window is active.

3.

4.

Staggering Test Starts & Limiting the Number of Students in Session

NWEA recommends that the size of a test session be limited to a class size and that students start testing in small batches to avoid problems logging in.

7.

Can I reuse my old test sessions?

NWEA recommends that new test sessions are created each term. If NWEA has updated the version of the test since the test session was created, errors may occur during testing.

8.

Can a student take the MAP test again?

Any student may be retested in any test session, even the same one. Once they are done with a test, if you would like to retest them, just assign the same test again and they can retake the test. The system will let the student take the test as many times as you want, however, only one score, per subject, per term, is considered valid. NWEA will determine which test is more valid by giving it a standard of error number. The test with the lower standard of error will be considered the valid test.

9.

How do I test a student again in the same test session?

A student can take a different test, or the same test, in the same test session. Please follow the steps below, but keep in mind “testing fatigue”: • • • • • •

10.

What should I do when students are still testing but our class time is over? • • •

Can I have more than one test session going at a time?

A teacher can only have one test session open, but you may add a student to a test session already in progress.

12.

How do I create a make-up test session with multiple tests?

Create a new test session and assign the appropriate test for each student. OR Use the steps below (#19) for Test History Search. You will have an option to add students not yet tested and suspended to a test session. Save the session or click Test Now. When you open this make-up test session, it won’t ask if you want the student to test again or resume the previous test until the student has been confirmed.
