the future, we also attract interest from large firms worldwide within agriculture and waste industries.

FROM NEIGHBORHOOD BIKE REPAIRS TO GLOBAL BRAND Orkel was founded in 1949 by Johan Gjønnes, who was going to repair bikes and toys for neighbors. From repairing, he moved on to designing and producing at first toys, bikes and carts, and then bigger agricultural machines. The first tricycles and toys are reminders of how humbly it all started. Today, second and third generation from the Gjønnes family are part of the management of Orkel. Several of Orkel’s first employees had background or high knowledge of farm work, and helped develop and

produce efficient, durable machines – quickly giving Orkel`s products a reputation of solid craftsmanship and clever solutions. We strive to uphold this reputation even today, and to continue to lead the development of being a safe, stable place to work.

THE WAY FORWARD The strong position Orkel has achieved in Norway and internationally as an innovative and reliable brand, is one we intend to uphold and strengthen even further. Our innovative solutions and cutting edge technology has made Orkel a leading player in the high end compactor market. By continuously looking into new areas for usage, we continue to invent and develop the compaction technology. We collaborate with Norway’s best scientific and research environments and universities – as for example Norwegian University of Science and Technology , SINTEF and The Research Council of Norway– on innovation of processes and products. DISTRIBUTION AND SALES Orkel products are sold to over 50 countries worldwide, from Chile and Australia in south to Japan in east and Iceland in north. You can find contact information for the sales channel closest to you on our webpages www.orkel.com. The focus on customer dialogue and satisfaction has led to development of the Norwegian sales and service company. This wide network means that an Orkel engineer can assist you upon short notice if needed – either from a location in your area, or from the production facilities in Norway. Production facilities Both the headquarter and production facilities are located in Fannrem, some 40 km south of Trondheim in central Norway. In our large production hall we assemble our compactors, round balers and tractor trailers. The production lines are efficient, with clear structure and high regards of safety. It is not only in our development we are innovative and forward looking – the facilities are highly modern, and we take use of new technology that improves safety, quality and efficiency in production.

Agricultural compactors Dens-X: the new generation compactors with our patented innovative feed hopper. MP/MC: these mobile units are well-known as long running, solid compactors, for a variety of materials. Tractor trailers Orkel is the biggest manufacturer of tractor trailers in Norway. The trailers are manufactured and supplied for both contracting, farming and industry, in a full range of loading capabilities from 3–13 tons.
