Educational Sessions New California Legislation From drought measures to accepting partial assessment payments, there is much to learn about how this year’s legislation impacts you and your association(s). Our attorney panel will provide inside information on new California laws and answer your text questions live.

Neighbor Disputes: How & When to Get Involved Neighbor disputes will never go away, which means your job will always involve addressing barking, parking, smoking, partying, yelling and other grievances. Learn how to create a streamlined and effective process to properly handle neighbor disputes while adhering to California HOA law.

Table Topic Speed Rounds Some of the best solutions to your management challenges can evolve from sharing your personal experiences with other professionals. This session puts you at the same table with likeminded managers and attorney facilitators to examine the legal issues you’re grappling with in your association(s).

New California Case Law Every year, new cases are handed down by the California appellate courts that affect how you operate in your association(s). Our attorney panel will delve into the implications of this year’s cases and answer your text questions live during the session.

Instant Audience Feedback Returns Use your cell phone at select sessions to vote on various legal scenarios, respond to polls or ask the panels a question – a fun way to enjoy more interaction and gauge how your peers feel about each issue!

Fair Housing Follies: Don’t Be Another Story Accommodation and disability issues affect every California association equally, big or small; they are serious and put an association, its board and management at risk of liability. Learn to spot FHA/ADA discrimination issues and ensure the association and board is always protected to the fullest extent.

Preventing Workplace Violence The nature of your job can leave you and other staff members vulnerable to aggression from homeowners, guests and tenants – or even from fellow employees. This session will provide guidance on steps, standards and mechanisms to help you mitigate violence and deal with a crisis.

Turning Conflicts into Win-Win Resolutions Does it seem like your day begins and ends with a dispute of some kind? No matter how small or big the dispute is, conflict can take its toll on the manager. This session will provide you with information and tools to both limit and successfully handle disputes of all kinds.

Onsite Management Challenges & Solutions Share your real-life “war stories” about the management of members, directors and communities from the onsite perspective. Our panelists will guide the discussion through various topics faced by today’s onsite managers and draw out your stories in a round table format that promotes sharing ideas and solutions.

Share your #CACMLawSeminar #CACMExpo experiences on social media throughout the event! We’ll be on Twitter @CACMchat and Facebook at facebook.com/CACMchat.

Vision Awards For the first time in history, the CACM Vision Awards are coming to Northern California! This is your opportunity to recognize excellence in community management specifically in your region. The CACM Vision Awards have historically celebrated the “best of the best” – individuals who have displayed outstanding achievements in the community association management industry. This year we’re bringing the awards program to the Law Seminar & Expo in both Northern and Southern California to give each region a chance to honor its finest. Vision Award nominees are CACM manager and affiliate members who have made a contribution above and beyond their normal duties while serving their association clients, their company and their fellow industry professionals. They continually exceed accepted standards of professionalism and skill, display a commitment to excellence, and illustrate high standards of certification and training. Winners and nominees will be recognized during the final session of the first day. Consider nominating a Northern California colleague you know and admire; visit www.cacm.org/visionawards.html to download a nomination packet.

Welcome Reception Join us immediately following the Vision Awards presentation to congratulate the winners and nominees and celebrate with all event attendees. You and your colleagues will enjoy appetizers and a no-host bar – the perfect way to unwind after a long day of learning. You won’t want to miss this memorable evening event!

This event’s going digital via the new CACM Events app. Bring your smartphone, and your tablet, too!
