Alan Mitchell BA (Hons) PG (Dip) Creative / Managing Director

Alan Mitchell has over 25 years experience as an independent lighting consultant. Project experience includes large-scale modern and classical exteriors, structures, bridges, atria, offices, hotels, shopping centres, aqua parks and museums and galleries. Work has been undertaken on over 300 projects in more than 20 countries around the world. As Managing and Creative Director Alan brings the creative, technical and business aspects of the projects together to provide his clients with a personalised service that offers the most imaginative yet efficient lighting design solutions within given budgets and time constraints.

Alessandro Ayanian BEng (Hons) Design Director

Alessandro has over 15 years experience in the lighting industry, performing in a variety of roles since obtaining a diploma in Integrated Engineering Systems BEng (Hons). He has extensive experience in using LEDs and DMX control systems with creative programming used in scene setting and commissioning. Alex specialises in hospitality work with large-scale modern exteriors, hotels, offices and malls, with a particular focus on lighting control systems.

Gary Thornton BSc (Hons) Senior Project Designer

Gary graduated with honors from Brunel University with a degree in Product Design building on a previous course in engineering. Following a year in industrial design and two further years operating as a freelance designer on a range of product and lighting design projects, he is now specialising in lighitng design with neolight. As a Senior Project Designer Gary brings creative and technical expertise to each and every project he works on. Drawing on previous design experience, and combining it with pushing the boundaries of new technology, he seeks to provide innovative lighting solutions realized from concept to complete within time scales and budgets. James Surla BSc BSEE Senior Project Designer

James has been in the field of lighting and lighting design for 10 years with experience as a product design engineer and as a dedicated lighting designer. Building on two years as a Product Design Engineer James moved to Dubai and his interest and passion with light brought him into the world of lighting design where he continues to work to a high level. As a senior member of staff James not only brings his technical expertise to projects but also oversees other designers in the office. James knows how to make the best use of the powerful medium of light, creating effects that can be changed to suit the required mood. Mehrdad Eizadfar BS (Hons) Project Designer

Mehrdad graduated with honors from Ateneo de Davao University in 2011 with a Bachelor Degree in Architecture. Following a year in an Architectural firm in Philippines, and two years as an Architectural Interior Designer in Dubai, he is now specialising in lighting with neolight. Mehrdad’s experience in the interior design sector has led him to design and create rich and luxurious interior ambiances through architectural lighting for high end modern villas and penthouses, hotels and hospitality buildings. As a Project Designer Mehrdad brings technical expertise to each and every project he works on. Specialising on design and visualising he helps to illustrate the design intent and sell the vision for each project. Using his multidisciplinary experience he seeks to provide innovative lighting design solutions to enhance architecture, interiors and landscapes. Lester Columna Design Technician

Lester’s previous experience working as an interior designer allows him to understand internal aesthetics and blend this with the technical aspects of lighting. Lester continues to build on this and use his creativity to continue to develop lighting schemes that enhance interior spaces and lift them up through the use of carefully selected lighting. Durz Custodio

Designer / Visualiser Durz brings a diverse skillset to neolight having previously worked as an architect and interior designer. Having always had a passion for lighting he has developed technical skills to create and enhance spaces using light. As well as key design work Durz specialises in the visualisation of ideas to illustrate the design intent and convey ideas and lighting solutions. Poorvi Kamath BArch MA Project Designer

In a career that would still be considered to be in its infancy Poorvi has had a broad range of experience in the field of architecture and lighting design. As a qualified architect from Bangalore she trained as an architect in Colombo to study contemporary tropical architecture, studying the Bawa style of architecture and working on various residential projects. Her passion to learn brought her to Dubai where she continued her work as a Junior Architect and worked on numerous projects from inception to completion. Her hobby in photography helped her understand light and its sculptural character which led her to further study a Masters in Architectural Lighting and join the neolight team. As Project Designer Poorvi continues to produce creative ideas using the medium of light as her tool and develop original and contemporary designs.
