One of the most distinguished coaching careers in National Football League history officially concluded when Dick Vermeil announced his retirement from professional football in January 2006 In 1969 George Allen hired Vermeil to become the first special teams coach in NFL history with the Los Angeles RAMs. He was named head coach at UCLA in 1974, where he led the Bruins to a Rose Bowl Championship over the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on January 1, 1976. Vermeil’s 15-year tenure as an NFL head coach began with the Philadelphia Eagles. In seven seasons with the Eagles, Vermeil engineered four playoff appearances, highlighted by an NFC Championship win over the Dallas Cowboys and a trip to Super Bowl XV. In 1997, Vermeil returned to the NFL as head coach of the St. Louis Rams, and led the team to its first Super Bowl victory, beating the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV. Vermeil is one of five NFL head coaches to lead three different teams into the playoffs.

Dana Altman is one of only six active coaches in NCAA Division I with 19 consecutive winning seasons, including an Elite-8 appearance this past season. He is part of an exclusive fraternity that includes Mike Krzyzewski, Tom Izzo, Roy Williams, Bill Self and Jim Boeheim. The 2013 National COY and three-time Pac-12 COY has won more games in his first six seasons than any coach in Oregon history. Altman is 154-64 in Eugene, and 564-307 in 27 seasons as a head coach at the NCAA Division I level in stints at Oregon, Creighton, Kansas State and Marshall. Altman has led the Ducks to six consecutive 20-win seasons and six postseason appearances, including four straight NCAA Tournaments for the first time in school history, winning at least one game in each of those years. Altman’s former assistant and former assistant, Brian Fish, was instrumental in bringing him to speak this year.

Cole is a 26-year collegiate coaching veteran who has made stops at 7 colleges and 2 high schools in his career. An experienced offensive coach, he has served as offensive coordinator at six different universities, most recently at Northern Illinois University. Under Cole’s direction in 2014, his NIU Husky offense thrived, averaging 421.2 yards and 31.5 points per game, on its way to a 5th straight 11-win season. He led a successful offense at Utah State from 2000-04. Cole was also the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of WY and at Florida A&M University. As offensive coordinator at Montana in 1999, Cole’s offense ranked 2nd in the nation in total offense (577.4 ypg), 2nd in scoring offense (46.4 ppg) and passing offense (370 ypg).

Robinson has developed an environment of excellence over the past three decades that has seen Minnesota rise to elite status in college wrestling. Since taking over the Gophers program in 1986, Robinson's teams have claimed the first three National Championships in Minnesota history while the three-time National Coach of the Year. He has helped develop 63 All-Americans, 14 individual National Champions, six Big Ten team titles and 31 different Big Ten Champions accounting for 49 individual titles. All told, Robinson's wrestlers have amassed a total of 124 All-America honors, including a NCAA-record 10 All-Americans during the National Championship run in 2001. His .753 winning percentage is a program record, and his 430 dual meet victories stand as both the best mark in Minnesota wrestling history and the highest total for any active, Division I head coach.

Dave Gantt, no stranger to Montana, has coached High School, Club, Collegiate, and International Volleyball for over 3 decades. Currently the Head Coach at Gonzaga University, Dave has a track record of improvement in every program he has directed. With stops at Belgrade High School (State Champs – 1984), MSU-Northern (Frontier Conf Co-COY in 1989), MSU-Bozeman (Most Successful Coach in Program History), Oregon State, as well as with the USA Men’s National Team, Gantt’s experience has taken him world-wide. Having experienced over 700 matches as a head and assistant coach, and accumulating over 400 wins as a head coach, most recently Gantt guided the Gonzaga program to it’s first back to back winning seasons in over 25 years, and to the program’s lowest ever RPI (National Ranking) of 35 during the 2015 season (330 Div 1 programs). The 2015 season also marked their fifth consecutive year of moving up in the NCAA ranks; beginning at 272 in 2010. After a 15 year hiatus Dave is excited to return to the MCA Clinic. Jim LeProwse is entering his 6th season as the Dawson Community College head softball coach. Under his leadership, the Buccaneers have won Mon-Dak conference championships in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. Coach LeProwse was also named Mon-Dak Conference Coach of the Year for the last 4 consecutive years 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015. He was also named Region IX Coach of the Year in 2013. 2013 also saw the softball team win its first ever Championship in the Region IX tournament. The 2013 Buccaneer softball team earned a spot to play in the Super Regional Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and lost to tournament champion Kirkwood Community College. The Buccaneers also won another regional championship in 2015, this time playing in Region XIII and LeProwse being named Region XIII Coach of the Year.

T&F - Hurdles

Harry Clark, former University of Houston and Montana State standout and 12-year assistant at U of M, just completed his 4th season as the head Carroll Track mentor. As a collegiate athlete Clark competed at the University of Houston and Montana State University, qualifying four times for the NCAA championships in the decathlon. His highest finish was fourth at the 1989 national meet. Clark also competed at the 1987 U.S. Olympic Festival, where he had a third-place showing in the decathlon. Clark still holds the Montana State University record in the decathlon with 7,633 points. As a prep at Cascade (Mont.) High, Clark was an 11-time state champion in track & field. He still holds the all-time, all-class state record in the triple jump (48-2) and the Class B record in the 110-meter hurdles (14.54) and 300-meter hurdles (38.1). Brian Orr has built a tradition of excellence as women’s basketball coach at NAIA perennial power L-C State. He is the all-time winningest basketball coach in school history with an overall record of 370-126 (.746%). During his 15 years, the Warriors have won 4 Frontier Conference regular season titles, 6 conference tournament titles, and made 13 trips to the NAIA national tournament where they have made it to at least the Sweet 16 in 7 of the past 10 seasons. This year’s squad posted a 27-7 record, won both the conference and tournament titles, and advanced to the Elite Eight of the national tournament. Brian has been named the conference’s Coach of the Year 4 times. He has an overall record of 209-36 (.853 winning percentage) in home games and his 159 league victories make him the winningest coach in the Frontier Conference. Before LC, Orr was top women’s assistant at MSU and head Women’s mentor at UGF. He also had coaching stops at MSU-B, Fergus, Simms, and Joplin-Inverness. He is a native of Livingston, MT. James Perry AD

Jim Perry, District AD for the Huntington Beach Union HS District, graduated from the University of Southern California in 1974 while playing basketball for the Trojans. Jim has served as Chairman of the National Coaches Council and as President of the National Council of Secondary School Athletic Directors. He has also served as a member of the Building Character Through Sports Task Force for the White House and Congressional Conferences. In 1997, Jim was inducted into the Southern California Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association’s HOF, in 2006 he was named the “California State Athletic Director of the Year” and in March of 2012, Jim was inducted into the National Association of Sport and Physical Education “Athletic Director Presidential Hall of Fame.” Topics: "Coaching Coaches - Shaping Our Schools Culture by Building Our Relationships", "Leading Successful Coaches Meetings" and "Working with Sports Parents to Improve Your Program".

Akram Hemaidan is back by popular demand after well-received presentations in 2013 and 2014. Akram has made dozens of trips to “Cheer Worlds” as a cheerleader, coach and choreographer. Akram has also won best choreography award at NCA Nationals and has been nominated for COY for three straight years. He also has been nominated for International Choreographer of the year twice! He currently choreographs for some of the Top programs in the world such as Germany, Norway, Austria, Switzerland, Mexico, and America. Akram is currently working as the Director for World Class Cheerleading, the fastest growing camp, choreography, and competition company in America. He and an amazing staff lead safety, tumbling, stunting, and dance clinics for pop-warner, junior high, high school and all-star programs from all over the nation.

General Session Suicide Prevention

Brandi Daw is the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Behavioral Health Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Brandi is also a proud representative for the Jason Foundation. Her passion is providing knowledge to communities regarding resources that are available through the Jason Foundation to help identify warning signs for suicide, how to help, what to do, what not to do, how to ask, and resources for help. She is state board member for the Suicide Prevention Action Network of Idaho. MCA partnered this year with the Jason Foundation because suicide is the #2 cause of death in Montana, for both adults and teens. This is a message that all coaches and administrators need to hear and take back to their communities.

Bob Stitt enters his second season at the helm of the Montana Grizzlies. During his first year he led the Griz back to the NCAA FCA Playoffs for the 23rd time in school history. He came to UM after a 15-season stint as the head coach at the Colorado School of Mines. Stitt’s Grizzlies went 8-5 his first season and finished tied for 2nd place in the Big Sky Conference. Highlights included an upset of defending champion, North Dakota State, a 57-16 rout of Eastern Washington and UM’s 72nd defeat of Montana State. He is widely known in national coaching circles for his creative offensive mind and his innovative “fly-sweep” play. His 2014, Orediggers went 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the RMAC, and advanced to the Division II national playoffs. In 2013, they posted an 8-3 record. Stitt was named league COY in 2004 and 2010. He was selected the Division II Football.com SW Region COY and was also tabbed the AFCA Region 5 COY in 2004.

Jeff Choate was appointed Montana State's 32nd head football coach in the winter of 2015. An Idaho native, he graduated from UM Western in 1993 and has spent most of his 24 seasons in coaching within a 10-hour drive of Bozeman. “This is what I’ve worked my entire career for,” Choate said, “to lead a college football program.” Choate played football at Montana-Western and began his coaching career with the Bulldogs in 1991-93 followed by stints in Idaho at Challis, Twin Falls and Post Falls. The Division I chapter of Choate’s coaching career began in 2002 at Utah State, where he coached the defensive line (2002) and special teams and safeties (2003-04). He coordinated special teams and coached safeties at Eastern Illinois in 2005-06 before returning to Idaho where he coached from 2006-11. After short stints at WSU and UTEP he moved to Florida, where he coordinated special teams and coached outside linebackers. The next season he took over special teams and defensive line duties at Washington, where he coached in 2014-15.

The 2016 season is Melanie Meuchel’s second year as the Montana softball program’s pitching coach. Meuchel, a Missoula native and 1997 graduate of Big Sky High School, was hired in September 2013 as the program’s first assistant coach. She has 11 years of college coaching experience, 10 of which have been at the NCAA Division I level. In Montana’s first season of competition in 2015, the team’s pitchers helped the Grizzlies win 16 games. The three-pitcher staff had an ERA of 4.75.

Brian Solomon has orchestrated a very successful volleyball program at MT Tech. Entering his fourth season, Solomon has an overall record of 47-40 and 21-25 in conference play. In his tenure, Solomon has produced, 22 Academic All-Conference selections, one All-American, two All-Region selections, one Freshman of the Year, two Libero of the Year recipients, seven All-Conference selections, one All-Freshman to go along with his Coach of the Year honor (2012). In 2014 the Orediggers went 12-16 overall and 6-8 in the Frontier. Solomon led Montana Tech to its first Frontier Conference Tournament victory since 2008 with a convincing 3-0 win over Great Falls. Previously, Solomon mentored the Columbia College Fighting Koalas in South Carolina where he rebuilt the program and turned out three straight winning campaigns from 2009-11. He was an outstanding setter at Hope International University, leading his team to back to back NCCAA National Championships.

“Shawn Huse is the winningest coach in MSU-Northern history. His overall record of 294-154 ranks him seventh in winning percentage (65.6%) and top 15 in active NAIA DI coaches in wins. He has led the Lights to five NAIA National Tournaments and five Frontier Conference titles (league or tournament). Under Huse, the Lights have had nine, 20-win seasons. Shawn was an NAIA Don Meyer National Coach-of-the-Year finalist in 2013, and was named Frontier Conference Coach-of-the-Year in 2007-2008. Under Huse, the Lights have been ranked in the NAIA Top 25 in twelve of his fourteen seasons, led the league seven seasons in defensive-points-allowed, six seasons in three-point-shooting (percent and/or mades), and his teams have broken twelve school records. Prior to MSU-Northern, Huse worked under Tom Kropp at the University of Nebraska-Kearney where in 2002 they won the RMAC championship and qualified for the NCAA DII Regional Tournament. While Assistant Coach under Rick Dessing at Montana Tech, the Orediggers won back-to-back Frontier Conference Tournament titles, enjoying their only appearances in the NAIA National Tournament (1998 and 1999).”

Jason Petrino Football

Jason Petrino was named the 17th head football coach in Rocky Mountain College history on January 21, 2016. He comes to Rocky after spending the past four years as the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach under legendary coach Joe Glenn at the University of South Dakota. This past season, the Petrinoled USD defensive unit finished in the top third of the Missouri Valley Football Conference – arguably the best conference in the FCS – in the major defensive statistical categories including overall defense, run defense, and pass defense. As defensive coordinator, he helped lead the Coyotes over five-time FCS National Champions North Dakota State, snapping their 26-game home winning streak. Petrino has served as defensive coordinator in nine of the last 11 college football seasons. His belief is that success is achieved from having the right players who possess the proper fundamentals, rather than scheme.

During Woehl’s first year at Montana State University Billings (MSUB), the Yellowjacket Sprint Crew has enjoyed success in the horizontal jumps and hurdles. Austin Lindquist, Landon Polkow, Shaniah Schwend, and Janessa Williams have combined to improve three school records including Men’s 110m Hurdles, Men’s 400m Hurdles, and Women’s Triple Jump. Prior to MSUB, he helped start the track & field program at Southwest Minnesota State University and coached the distance runners and horizontal jumpers.

David Paul

T&F – Throws

The 2016 season was David Paul’s first year as an assistant coach with the Montana track and field program. He coaches the Grizzlies’ throwers, after spending the previous four years coaching at Central Washington University. A former collegiate shot put, discus and hammer thrower at Eastern Washington University, David brings a variety of experiences and philosophies in working with the events, collected from a wide range of coaches. Coach Paul will speak 3 sessions: Basics of Shot Put - Glide and Rotational, Discus- A look at Basics and Varied styles, Basics of Javelin.

Shawn Neary Basketball

Coach Neary just completed his 20th year as a college head coach with 372 career college wins. 7 years ago, Neary started the program at Gillette College. This season the Pronghorns were ranked as high as #3 in the nation, finished the season with a record of 35-2 and 3rd place finish at the National Tournament. His Gillette teams have averaged 24 wins a year and 30 wins a year the past 3 seasons. The Pronghorns were 2x Region IX North sub-region regular season champions (2014 and 2016), Region IX Champions (2016), Region IX tournament runner up (2014 and 2015). Coach Neary has been named the Region IX North COY (2014 and 2016), District IX COY (2016). Shawn began his college career at Miles Community College where he coached the Pioneers for 13 seasons and has the most career wins (204) in the history of the men’s BB program. Coach Neary was born and raised in Butte, and is a graduate of Butte High School (1986).

JJ Riley was named Montana State's tenth head coach in the history of Bobcat volleyball on Jan. 21, 2015. Most recently, he helped guide the Utah women's squad to back-to-back 20-win seasons in the Pac-12 and to the second-round of the NCAA Tournament. Riley brings an extensive and diverse volleyball background to MSU. He served two seasons as an assistant coach with the USC men's volleyball team before joining the Utes, and has coached for Pepperdine.

Brian Fish lead the Bobcats to a 14-17 record in his second year at MSU, a dramatic 7-game improvement over the previous year; quite an accomplishment considering 20 of their 31 contests were on the road. When the Cats were at home the fans increased by 1000 per game this season, a testament to the exciting style Coach Fish has implemented in the Bobcat program. Fish joined the Bobcats after serving as an assistant at the University of Oregon. His time with the Ducks marked the continuation of a long-standing relationship with one of college basketball’s most respected coaches, Dana Altman. Brian’s 4th season on Altman’s staff culminated in a round-of-32 loss to Wisconsin. He has 21 years of experience coaching at the Division I level and has spent 15 of his 25 years in coaching with Altman at Oregon, Kansas State, Creighton and Marshall as well as stops at San Diego under Brad Holland, TCU with Billy Tubbs. In his 18 seasons as an assistant coach Fish’s team has advanced to the post-season 12 times, including five NCAA appearances. Those teams have reached the 20-win mark on 13 occasions.

Tricia Binford Basketball

In 2005, Coach Binford was hired to guide the Bobcats back to the upper echelons of the Big Sky Conference. Now, 11 years later, the former Boise State and WNBA standout is MSU’s longest tenured coach as well as its winningest in history, with an unprecedented level of excellence on the court, in the classroom and within the community. Those three hallmarks make Bobcat basketball one of the most respected programs in the country. On the court, Binford’s squads have played for the Big Sky title twice and have made ten straight postseason appearances, including owning the No. 1 seed in 2015-16. Binford has notched 171 career victories at Montana State, which ranks first on MSU’s all-time women’s basketball coaching ladder and fourth in Big Sky history.

Pat grew up in Polson where he was a three-time Montana state champion and one-time runner up in wrestling. He went on to wrestle at the University of Michigan where he was a three-time NCAA qualifier, three-time All-Big Ten, three-time Academic All American, team captain, and won the prestigious Big Ten Medal of Honor as a senior. Pat’s 4 session topics include: Foundational keys (athleticism, positioning, movement); Neutral Offense from ties; Top Offense; Leadership Development.

The 2016 season is Head Coach Chuck Morrell’s sixth year at the helm of the Oredigger Football Program. Coach Morrell, Frontier Conference COY, guided the Orediggers to a 10-2 overall record and a second Frontier Conference Championship and automatic post season appearance. After starting the season unranked, Tech rose to No. 5 in the final regular season poll, the highest ranking since 1997. The Orediggers hosted their first post season game since 1997 and first post season victory since 2005 defeating No. 18 Dickinson State 44-10. The Orediggers defeated perennial power Carroll College twice in 2015, a first since 1999. Ranked opponents feared the Diggers as Tech toppled No. 4 Carroll College, No. 1 Southern Oregon, No. 10 Montana Western and No. 18 Dickinson State. Topic: 3-4 Defensive Secondary Play

Brett has just completed his 3rd year at Polson where he assisted Bob Owen and helped the Pirates to a 2016 runner-up finish at State. Prior to Polson, Owen was on the coaching staff at Chandler High School in Chandler Arizona working with head coach Curtis Owen. The following year Owen moved to take over as Head Coach at Florence High School in Florence, AZ before moving back to Montana. Owen was a two time NAIA All-American wrestler for Dickinson State University. Brett’s topics are: “Setting up and using the Track Wrestling Statistic Season program” and “Using Track Wrestling Program to set up tournaments”

Coach Murdock entered his coaching career at Billings Senior in 2006 and in 2011 he became the head mentor for the Broncs. This past season he led Senior into the play-offs, in a season that saw the most parity among AA teams in recent memory, falling short in a hard-fought championship battle against the Bozeman Hawks. Coach Murdock is a 2005 graduate of the University of Mary. He will speak on: Introduction to the 4-2-5 Defense, Defensive Drills and Practice Planning.

Jeff has been the head girls’ basketball coach at Belt since 2007. His excellent record includes playing on Saturday night at the state tournament every year, winning the state title 4 of the last 5 years and finishes of 2nd, two 3rds and two 4ths. Graham's Huskies also boast 7 district and 6 divisional crowns. Jeff is a four-time MCA COY and also Belt's head FB and co-head T&F coach. Erika is a graduate of Hellgate and MSU-B. She coached basketball and volleyball at the high school level in Billings. In 2013, she became the varsity volleyball coach and in those three seasons they have made three state tournament appearances, won one conference championship, finished 3rd place in 2014 and won the 2015 State AA Championship, which was the first in Bozeman High School history. She will focus on fundamental skills and practice drills.

Circle native, Dina Fritz played for the 2007 State Champ Wildcats in both VB and BB. She coached Circle to their second VB title this year to go along with a third place finish in 2014. She has coached various sports for 7 years and has been the head Volleyball coach for the past 4 years. In 2010 she served as assistant VB coach at Dawson Community College. Dina is a full time daycare provider and also helps teach preschool. She will speak on team management.

Kevin Morales Basketball

Kevin played high school basketball and football for Huntley Project. Huntley won state in both sports while Kevin attended HP. Kevin was also a varsity assistant on the 2nd state basketball team at Huntley Project. Kevin has coached at Skyview for the past eight years and has been the head coach there for the past two seasons. Skyview's record for those two years is now 40-6 with two State AA titles. Sue is a 37-year veteran of the coaching wars. In her 32-year tenure at Colfax HS in Colfax, Washington, Coach Doering’s teams have made 30 state tourney appearances, competing in an incredible 18 state championship matches, and winning 13. Her current overall record is an astounding 851-225. She has received numerous COY awards including the prestigious NFHSC National Volleyball COY in 2007. Colfax is a Class B School that regularly plays up, competing against A, AA and AAA schools in Washington. Her topics are: Thoughts on Successful Coaching (valuable to coaches of all sports), Preparation – All Season Long, Volleyball Skill Tips.

Rob Stanton T&F - Relay

A former high school pole vaulter (15’3) of legendary coach, Doug Lebrun, Bill went on to college where he registered a personal best of 16’10 ¾. Under Bill’s guidance several state champions have developed along with the state PV record holder. Since 2013, seven of his athletes have made the transition from high school vaulting to the college ranks. Hurford currently runs the Rocky Mountain Athletic Track Club in Helena and heads up the Pole Vault camp as well as the Last Chance Pole Vault Festival in Helena..

Rob Stanton has been a head T&F coach for the past 14 years, starting under the tutelage of HOF Coach John Polich in Miles City. The past 14 years Stanton has led his boys’ teams to two 3rd place finishes, two 2nd place finishes, and 5 state championships. On the girls’ side he has led his teams to one 3rd place finish, 5 2nd place finishes and one state title. He has mentored the 4 X 100 relay the past 14 years and his relay teams have won several titles. In 2009 his boys’ team set a state all-time record at 41.48. Choteau Bulldogs head coach Matt Luedtke is a graduate of Ronan High School and the University of Montana Western. He played high school basketball for Coach Jimmy Stergar and played collegiately for Don Holst, Pryor Orser, and Mark Durham. Coach Luedtke also played under coaching legend Kermit Young and coached under Steve Keller as the UM-W JV coach. In his first two years at Choteau, he assisted Larry Lucero and then took over as the head coach for the 2013-14 season. In his 3 years as Choteau head mentor, he has accumulated a 72-6 record and back to back state championships along with a current 52 game winning streak. Coach MacDonald has been the Varsity Boys Coach at Box Elder for the past 5 seasons, compiling a 107-17 won-loss record. MacDonald has been named 9C COY the last 4 seasons and in those four years, Box Elder has won four 9C Conference Championships, four 9C Tournament Championships, two Northern C Divisional Championships, and the State C Championship in 2014 and 2016. Jeff Carroll has been the head Volleyball mentor at Billings Senior since 1987. During that time his teams have won 15 conference championships, 12 state championships, and 5 runners-up finishes. He has been named MCA COY 12 times, was named to the MCA Hall of Fame in 2009 and was selected as the NHSACA National Volleyball COY in 2010. In 2011, He has an overall record of 698-204 including a 28/4 record (3rd place) this past season. He has served with the AVCA on the Publications Committee, as well as the High School All-America Selection Committee. 77 of his former players have gone on to play collegiately, 11 of them at the DI level. Jeff was inducted into the NHSACA Hall of Fame in 2015.

For 40 years Pete has coached HS athletes in 3 Canadian Provinces, He has been blessed with some hard working runners has been able to win Provincial medals in each province. In Alberta his Wetaskiwin X-Country teams won 5 consecutive Zone titles and 4 consecutive Provincial championships. (One particular ‘spectacular’ moment was defeating the Browning Indians X-Country team in Havre one year – but unfortunately it was only once!) Presently he coaches HS, Jr HS and Club. The name “Mark Yoakam” and “Montana high school track” are synonymous. He is one of the most successful and respected members of the track coaching community. As a Montana head and assistant track and cross country coach, first at Glasgow and now Corvallis, Mark’s teams have earned an incredible 49 trophies (25 state championships, 9 runners up and 15 thirds). A 42-year veteran coach, Mark was inducted into the MCA Hall of Fame in 1997 and is a finalist for the 2016 National High School Athletic Coaches Association “Assistant Girls’ COY”.

Scott graduated from NMC in 1988 and taught and coached football in Idaho Falls from 198893. In 1993 he moved to Chinook and was named the Head Football Coach in 1994. He coached football from 94-99, making it to the Class B Quarterfinals in 1997 and 1999. After a 6 year break he was hired again as the CHS FB head mentor in 2014, guiding Chinook to back-toback state title games in 2014 and 2015. In 2014 they finished as the runner up with a 9-3 record and in 2015 they won the Class C 8-Man State Championship with a 12-0 record. He was named Northern Division Co-COY in 2014, Northern Division COY and MCA Class C COY in 2015. He coached in the Class B All-Star game in 2000 and the Badlands Bowl in 2015. A graduate of Whitewater and MSU, Nate has coached girls’ basketball for 11 years, 10 as a head mentor (2001-2008 at Bigfork High School, then 2013-present in Malta). His head coaching record is 163-66, and in the last five seasons at Bigfork and then Malta, he has a remarkable 115-9 record. In his final 2 years at Bigfork, the “Vals” notched two Northwestern A Divisional Championships. Les graduated from RMC, and coached their secondary for two years, and then served as grad assistant at St. Cloud State (MN) for two more. Since his term started at Fairfield in 1997, the Eagles have made the playoffs 14 of the last 15 years, played in the state championship game 7 of the last 11 years, winning the state title in 2011 and 2015. Few teams, if any, have experienced more success in the last 10 years, than the Eagles, under the guidance of Coach Meyer. His topic: Complementary Plays of the Shotgun Wing T.

Coach Sparks has been a head football coach in the Class C ranks at Denton & Denton-GeyserStanford the past 11 seasons, accumulating a 93-20 record. His teams have won three state championships, most recently in 2015 and have been runners-up twice. He is a three time MCA coach of the year and a 6-time nominee. This year also marks his 15th year as the head coach of the Lewistown Redbirds Legion Baseball team. Dirk, a U.S.P.T.A. Elite professional, has been involved with the game of tennis for over 25 years as a player, teacher and successful Director of Tennis. He began his tennis career in Southern CA, where he was a top ranked junior with numerous tournament wins. While attending Saddleback College, he was a member of the Men’s State Championship team. Dirk has worked alongside Pancho Segura, former coach of Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi; Jose’ Hugeras, former coach of Jim Courier; Wayne Bryan, father and coach of top ranked double players, Mike and Bob Bryan. He was a hitting partner for Andre Agassi and has playing experience with tennis great Rod Laver. Baker has coached numerous junior players who reached national and international rankings preparing them for successful college careers. Dirk enjoys working with adults and juniors of all ages and ability levels.

Coach Peach is approaching 40 years working with high school and college tennis players. He coached at Montana State, MSUBillings, and Academy of Art in San Francisco at the collegiate level. His high school history has been at St. Thomas More H.S. in Rapid City, SD and Billings Central and Billings West in Billings, MT. Peach will spend time at this clinic breaking down the high school game for coaches looking to add organization for their programs so players may better be on the fast track to improvement.

Bob Veroulis is a 29 year PGA Member. A 10-time award winner and 2 Time PNW PGA Section award winner Bob is recognized throughout Montana as one of the most accomplished Teaching Professionals. Bob's Cause and Effect approach to Golf instruction brings brain to muscle nerve impulse time factors, physics, geometry, and kinesiology together. His simple but effective approach has helped every level of Golf for over 30 years. Bob has plied he trade as a golf professional at Green Meadow CC and Bill Roberts GC in Helena, Eagle Bend Golf Club in Bigfork, University of Montana Golf Course and the Ranch Club in Missoula, Wilderness Club in Eureka, Montana as well as Bermuda Dunes CC, PGA West, and Trilogy Golf Club in LA Quinta CA. Bob is now the State Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Montana.

Matt Higgins was hired as Montana’s new women’s golf coach in 2015. Previously, Matt led the Concordia-St. Paul women’s and men’s golf teams to nine NCAA regional appearances and built his women’s program into a model of student-athlete success, Higgins started the school’s women’s program in 2001-02. Higgins’s women’s team made its first NCAA Central Regional appearance in 2009 and advanced to the 12-team Division II national championship in 2009 and ’11. The Golden Bears made it seven consecutive regional appearances last spring. The CSP men’s team made regionals in 2010 and ’12. A two-time Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference coach of the year, Matt will speak on “Fitness Drills” and “Investing in Your Student Athletes”

Kris Goss serves as Senior Counsel/Outreach Manager with the Montana School Boards Association. In this position, Kris works as an attorney representing the interests of member Montana K-12 public school districts. Kris has worked on behalf of school districts with MTSBA since 2009. Prior to his employment with MTSBA, Kris was a law clerk for the Honorable Sam E. Haddon in the Great Falls Division of the United States District Court for the District of Montana. Prior to law school, Kris also worked as Governor’s Education Policy Advisor and Deputy Communications Director in the administration of Governor Judy Martz.

Pat Lynch is currently the Activities Director at Manhattan High School. He has been at Manhattan for 36 years. In addition to his AD position, Pat has held numerous coaching titles at Manhattan, including football, girls’ and boys’ basketball, girls’ and boys’ golf at the high school and junior high as well as girls’ and boys’ track at the high school level. Pat was a 2013 and 2016 finalist for the NHSACA Athletic Director of the Year. Pat was selected as Montana’s Athletic Director of the Year in 2015. Jonathan L. Bingham, M.D., is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Penn State University College of Medicine. He is a board-certified dermatologist and completed his Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Colorado. After serving in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, Dr. Bingham is on staff with the Great Falls Clinic. He rowed crew at the Naval Academy receiving his varsity letter and was part of two Team National Championships (1992, 1993) and the Novice-4 National Championship (1992).

Mishel, a Montana native, has been coaching high school, college, and all-star cheerleading for 12 years. She found her passion for the sport as a high school cheerleader in Bozeman, then went on to cheer for and then coach her college team. After college she started a high school team in Alaska which won several regional and state competitions. After returning to Montana she joined the Mustang All-Stars and is currently the director of their cheerleading program. Under her direction the teams have won multiple State and National competitions. She is passionate about high school and all-star cheerleading and SM – Kinesiology focuses on stunting and tumbling Taping safety and progression. For the past Shelby’s taping session was seven years she has partnered with World Class Cheerleading to help very popular last year, so she is grow the high school and all-star back by popular demand. Dr. Matury is a graduate of Purdue University and completed his chiropractic training at Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1989. He practiced in Indiana until moving to Montana in 2005. Practice emphasis includes soft tissue injury and repetitive strain disorders. Prior patients include two Mr. USA body building champions, a national power lifting champion, and various other NCAA athletes. More recently he has become certified in Functional Movement Screening which is being used by the Titlist Players Institute and various professional and college athletes for injury prevention. He will speak on how it can decrease injury and increase performance.

Paul Capp, head athletic trainer at Hellgate High School, is finishing his 3rd year. A 2013 graduate of the University of Montana Athletic Training Education Program, Paul, also holds certification as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). At Hellgate, Paul, is responsible for covering all school-sponsored sports. In addition to his duties as the head athletic trainer he also works with football, volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, and girls’ soccer in the weight room throughout the school year, focusing on increasing athletic performance while decreasing risk of injury. Paul’s topics will be:” Injury Prevention” and “The high school athlete's development and how that effects sport performance and injuries”.

MHSA Executive Director Mark Beckman has an extensive background as a coach and activities director. As the MHSA’s top executive, he is the primary rules interpreter for all Association by-laws and regulations.

Joanne is the MHSA Associate Director, and her duties include gender equity, soccer and fine arts. She has presented workshops on hazing, bullying and athletic equity at the state, regional and national levels.

This short presentation will introduce the new recommendations for outdoor activities during poor air quality, review how to use air quality monitoring data to make decisions about holding or canceling outdoor athletic events, and briefly discuss the health effects of wildfire smoke. The session will be jointly presented by Kristen Martin, the air quality meteorologist for the Montana DEQ, Dr. Phillip Steele, a Board Certified Physician in Family Practice specializing in non-operative sports medicine, Jessie Fernandes, an epidemiologist and Asthma Control Program at MT DPHHS, and Doug Kuenzil, the Research and Monitoring Section Supervisor for the DEQ’s Air Quality Bureau.

William Biskupiak is the Coordinator for the School Health Program at the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. Mr. Biskupiak has over 5 years of experience in domestic and international public health promotion and disease prevention. In addition to his duties with the School Health Program. The Asthma Friendly Schools for Coaches Training was created by the Montana Asthma Control Program to provide training to coaches on the basic principles of asthma management and how asthma can affect student athletes. The training reviews basic asthma pathophysiology, identifies common asthma triggers and gives strategies to reduce exposure to these triggers, and outlines the protocol to follow in an asthma emergency situation.
