Land - Bus

How to get there Greyhound serves San Diego from cities all over North America. Services between San Francisco and San Diego usually require a transfer in LA. There is one daily bus to Las Vegas. Greyhound also has direct services from San Diego to Tijuana, across the border in Mexico, where you can connect to other buses serving destinations throughout Mexico.

Train

Amtrak trains arrive at and depart from the Santa Fe train depot at the western end of C St. The Pacific Surfliner makes up to 11 round trips to LA; as many as five trains continue on to Santa Barbara. For travel to San Francisco take the Pacific Surfliner to LA, where you can catch the Coast Starlight to Oakland, with onward motorcoach service to San Francisco. Services to other parts of the USA also require a change in LA.

Air

Most flights into San Diego International Airport, about 3 miles west of downtown, are domestic. Coming in from overseas, you’ll most likely change flights - and clear US Customs - at one of the major US gateway airports, such as LA, Chicago or Miami. The standard one-way fare between LA and San Diego is about $75. The flight from LA takes only about 35 minutes; the drive is around two hours. Rental-car prices are about the same in both cities. If you’re flying to/from other US cities, it’s almost as cheap to fly to/from San Diego as it is to LA. Airlines serving San Diego include Aeromexico, America West, American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, Southwest and US Airways.

How to get there For many national and international destinations, buses leave from the bus station opposite to the main entrance to the Stazione Porta Garibaldi.

Train

Cadorna station is located near the Castello Sforzesco. You can take a taxi from the taxi stand on the right as you exit the station or the Metro to get to Milano Centrale, where trains leave for about anywhere in Europe.

Most European and other international flights use Malpensa airport, 50km northwest of the city. Malpensa can be reached by train using the Malpensa Express from either the Centrale or Cadorna Station. The majority of domestic and a handful of European flights use the more convenient Linate airport, 7km east of the city center (www.sea-aeroportimilano.it)
