THE SUN CITY A snapshot of a spectacular market.

At the westernmost tip of Texas, El Paso sits on the border of three states and two countries. El Paso County—made up of the cities and towns of El Paso, Horizon, Socorro, Anthony, Clint, Fabens, Vinton, San Elizario, Canutillo, Sunland Park, and Tornillo— hosts a population of over 800,500 residents (2010 U.S. Census Bureau). El Paso’s neighbors include the Mexican city of Juarez and New Mexico’s Las Cruces, along with the U.S. military base Fort Bliss in the east. El Paso- Ciudad Juarez makes up the largest international metroplex in the world. Nicknamed the Sun City, El Paso enjoys an

average of 302 days a year. El Paso is home to the country’s oldest continuously active missions of Ysleta and Socorro, an 18 acre zoo, the Chamizal National Memorial lying adjacent to the Bridge of the Americas, several theatres and museums, the Franklin Mountains State Park, and the University of Texas at El Paso. Historical ties to Native American communities, the Mexican-American War, and Wild West outlaws are evident in the city’s architecture, parks, businesses, and events. More than 70 Fortune 500 companies have offices in El Paso. El Paso’s vast reach and cultural diversity make it an ideal location to advertise your business – and the El Paso Times is the best place to do it.

There are many reasons why people fall in love with El Paso - and why your business belongs in the El Paso Times in print and online.

THE RIGHT

MARKET Situated on the border of two nations and three states, El Paso’s location presents a unique array of opportunities for advertisers.

Known as the world’s largest binational metropolitan area, El Paso is a melting pot of cultures, lifestyles and people. It is also an ideal entry-point to and from Juárez, Mexico. Every day, large numbers of Mexican citizens travel to El Paso to shop. When comparing the El Paso MSA with the El Paso Times Market Area, it is apparent how valuable it will be to advertise in the El Paso Times and its partner products. Consumers in this market are more likely to be bilingual, younger families with children present in the household.

GUIDE TO SENDING ELECTRONIC FILES:

EL PASO

1. SOFTWARE WE ACCEPT To ensure that your ad runs as scheduled in TNP products with minimal complications or delays, we recommend sending ads in a PDF format. We also accept the following ad file formats: • Quark Xpress 3.32-6.5 • Adobe InDesign 1.0-CC 2014 • Photoshop 4.0-CC2014 • Microsoft Word (Camera Ready) • Illustrator 6.0-CC2014 Files that are not PDF need to be placed in a folder and compressed (.zip or .sit). Emailed images must be in JPEG or TIFF (CMYK) format, and color images must be associated parts of the ad. JPEG files are acceptable if they are at least 200 dpi resolution. Please do not send ads as documents in the following programs: Microsoft Publisher, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, CorelDraw, MS Works, or Freehand.

2. PDF PDFs must be created as composite and saved with all fonts embedded. We recommend distilling with Press Optimized selected. DO NOT send colors separated in a PDF. We will create separations for the composite file. PDFx1a is the preferred PDF method for the El Paso Times.

We accept CD, DVD, and thumb drives. Clearly label media with agency name and advertiser name, contact, date, and phone number. Please be sure the ad is in final, proofed form before it is released. Clients supplying ads on disk must include a hardcopy of the ad. If the ad is a color ad, a color proof or color key must be submitted with the insertion ticket for comparison of the final output. When submitting non-Macintosh files, provide a test file prior to submitting the live ad to avoid last minute problems.

including spot colors should be set to print as “process separation.” This applies to graphics or logos created in other programs that are subsequently imported into the ad. For proper color reproduction, refer to our process Color Chart. A Color Chart can be requested by calling Advertiser Services at (915) 546-6435. Trap spot color material when applicable. Prepare material so adjoining colors overlap slightly by .5 to 1 pt. We cannot “colorize” images (i.e. turn B&W photos into color). Line art (Black & White) images must be at least 300 dpi resolution. Color and Grayscale images must be at least 200 dpi resolution.

4. NAMING YOUR FILES

8. SIZES

3. MEDIA WE ACCEPT

TNP requests that your files be saved in the format: Rundate_ Company Name

Document size of the ad must match the size on EP Times Advertising Dimensions sheet. Ensure that element boxes are within the ad boundaries. Delete extraneous elements outside the image area.

5. SENDING ADS BY EMAIL Email ads must be sent to the Sales Representative for the account in question. Contact the Sales Representative for his/her email address. Email ads will not be altered and run as is. Emailed ads must be received at least one full business day prior to run date.

6. FONTS The El Paso Times uses Adobe Font Folio 9 in its standard font set. Any non-standard fonts used in an ad must be converted to PATHS. Fonts used in an ad must be submitted with the ad, even fonts converted to PATHS or embedded in logos or other graphics. This includes both screen and printer fonts. Please refrain from using reverse or multi-color text smaller than 12 pt; use real font sizes and do not scale or stretch fonts. If EPS Files was originally built in Freehand or Adobe Illustrator, fonts must be converted to PATHS, otherwise font substitution will occur. Avoid overlaying text on background screens or tinted ghost images with values greater than 25%. Black type should be set to overprint. Avoid using screen values of less than 20% or greater than 80%. A Font List can be requested by calling Advertiser Services at (915) 546-6435. Type smaller than 4 pt. should not be used.
