Long-running It’s still true: the good old multi-jet water meter is our most success-ful meter. An inspired synthesis of old and new. ❏ Tried and tested: yes, indeed! ❏ International: yes, of course! ❏ Up-to-the-future: yes, depend on it! Harmonized It’s immediately noticeable: all our meters have the same head (except the Qn 15 model). This means that the meter head can be replaced with the head ring all the way through to the glass and the gasket. The metering inserts, too, are externally identical: the diameter at the register has been standardized. And we are still supplying riser meters in addition to our standard models for horizontal installation. First-class Our MNR excels in terms of exemplary accuracy over a significantly wider measuring range than specified for Class C. The suspended rotor is sensitive to even the tiniest of movements. Continuous loadings of approx. 1.4 Qn or briefly of 1.2 x Qmax are no problem. And the low pressure drop is second to none. How to best handle the Multi-jet Meter

Laws and regulations Water meters must always be installed by properly trained craftspersons. The instructions below are designed to help you achieve optimum metering results. In addition, the applicable laws and regulations, as well as good engineering practice, must be strictly complied with! Operating temperature Cold water meters, approved for Tmax 30 °C, can be used in applications not involving statutory calibration requirements, for operating temperatures of up to Tmax 50 °C. But they must not be used for either warm or hot water. Transport and storage Do not drop and avoid any severe impact on the water meters. Any damage will result in inaccurate metering. In very cold weather, residues of test water may freeze inside the meters during transport. If this happens, allow the meters concerned to thaw out slowly in a frost-free room. The temperature must not exceed 50 °C. Only a frostproof room with no dust will protect your meters during storage. Also, the storage temperature should not exceed 50 °C: be careful around radiators! After a lengthy period of storage, retighten the meter heads to preclude the possibility of leaks.

Commissioning At commissioning, and after every time the pipes have been drained, always open the shutoff valves slowly, so that the meters, running dry at first, are started up gently. To preclude faulty indication and damage, never allow a water/ air mixture to flow through the meters.

MNR-S: Riser installation

To avoid soiling of your meters, take them to the place of installation in their original packing, or at least use thread protection caps. Installation Give new or modified piping a thorough flush-out at as high a pressure as possible. Fit adapters in place of the meters. Install the water meters in a frostproof location permitting easy read-off. Make sure the direction of flow is correct, by checking the arrows on the meters themselves. The MNR is only approved for horizontal installation. The measuring points must be located so as to ensure that the meters are always completely filled with water.

During a period of frost, you should blow into the meter softly before installing it, to check whether it’s functioning properly. Make sure that all the materials used for the installation job are suitable for drinking water. We recommend using an installation clamp. It’s not essential to have a straight section of pipe upstream or downstream of the meter. Conversely, shutoff valves must be installed upstream and downstream of the meter. A drain cock is advisable. The valve downstream of the meter must under statutory regulations be fitted with an approved non-return valve. For safety’s sake, our meters can also be supplied with a non-return valve.

Calibration validity and maintenance Water meters used or provided in business transactions must be calibrated or certified. In conformance with the EEC Guidelines, the duration of calibration validity is 6 years for cold water meters and 5 years for warm water meters. These cycles have also proved appropriate as maintenance intervals for non-certified meters. Depending on the water quality and operating conditions involved, however, a shorter interval may be necessary. Warranty procedures If you need to make a guarantee claim on one of our water meters, please send it to us unopened and still with the lead seal unbroken, with a note specifying that the warranty is involved. Otherwise no incoming examination will be performed, and the cause of the damage concerned can no longer be reconstructed subsequently.
