ROBERT GORDON CLARK Executive Chairman, LCA

Robert founded London Communications Agency together with Jonny Popper in 1999 and is now Executive Chairman. He leads on a number of clients such as Benson Elliot, Brockton, Chelsea FC, Kings Cross, LCR, Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and Mace. Prior to setting up the company, Robert was Deputy Chief Executive of London First, and London First Centre. In that time Robert oversaw the launch of London First Centre, created The London Brand for Inward Investment, was Director of the London Tube Campaign and consultant to the English National Stadium Trust. He is Chairman of the Mayor’s Thames Festival Trust.

Michèle started her career at the Greater London Council after completing her PhD and became a chartered civil engineer. Following 15 years in the private sector working on a range of studies, Michèle joined TfL as Director of Congestion Charging in a jobshare with Malcolm Murray-Clark. In June 2007, they were promoted to Managing Directors of Planning. Michèle leads TfL’s strategic thinking on the future transport needs of London, testing and challenging policies and providing clear direction on appropriate transport solutions for the future.

Mike leads the Future Cities Initiative at WSP
UK, drawing sector expertise from across the breadth of WSP’s business units
to deliver joined-up thinking for complex urban problems, worldwide. Mike is a founding member of the Working Group for Sustainable Cities at Harvard University, a Guest Practitioner at the London School of Economics Cities Programme, where he lectures on Systems Thinking, Industrial Symbiosis, Urban Metabolism theory, and the use of Computational Tools in Spatial Planning. He has worked on the MSc Sustainable Urbanism Design Studio at University College London for the last four years, lecturing on Strategic Planning and Smart Cities. Mike is an academician of the Academy of Urbanism, and a Contributing Editor of the Global Urbanist Journal.

Pat has been Ealing’s Executive Director for Regeneration & Housing since 2007. At Ealing he is responsible for Town Planning, Building Control, Transport Policy, Community Safety, Environmental Health & Trading Standards, Regeneration, Economic Development, Property and Housing. Before joining Ealing, Pat worked for TfL as Director of Borough Partnerships and prior to that spent over four years as Lewisham’s Executive Director for Regeneration and Environment. He was previously Chief Executive of Skillswork, a five borough skills and business support agency. Pat has an Economics degree from the LSE.

GERRY HUGHES Senior Director, GVA

Gerry is a Senior Director at GVA and National Head of the firm’s Planning, Development and Regeneration Division. He has specific expertise in setting up Joint Ventures and in different funding mechanisms and delivery mechanisms. He also has extensive experience as an expert witness at public inquiries, having appeared at over 30 planning and CPO inquiries to give evidence. He is currently advising on Brent Cross Cricklewood for LB Barnet, two estate renewal projects for LB Wandsworth (Alton Estate and York Road Estate), the redevelopment of the Metropolitan Police Training Headquarters at Hendon, and the delivery of new development schemes Colchester, Kingston and Maidenhead.

ANTHONY LEE Senior Director, BNP Paribas Real Estate

Anthony is BNP Paribas Real Estate’s lead director for Financial Viability and Affordable Housing Advisory services. He is a member of the RICS panel of expert advisors to the Planning Inspectorate, advising on financial viability and affordable housing. Anthony is a specialist in financial modelling and valuation and advises clients in the public and private sectors on a range of affordable housing and Section 106 issues. He has recently advised local authority and developer clients on major strategic residential developments in London with a GDV of circa £10 billion, providing a combined total of circa 29,000 housing units. He is a specialist in the transfer and redevelopment of public sector and RSL accommodation.

Mark joined Redbridge in 2006, as Head of Regeneration and now heads up the authority’s Inward Investment Unit, which was set up to drive external private investment in the Borough from overseas sovereign wealth funds, pension fund managers and other financial institutions. The unit is also tasked with developing a first class workforce, across the area’s diverse SME businesses and major employers. Mark also leads for the borough on Crossrail, Local Enterprise Partnerships and subregional partnerships in North East London and the London Stansted Cambridge Corridor. In 2012, Mark was made an academician of the Academy of Urbanism. He is also an active participant in the URBED (Ten Group), the Future of London group and is a board member of CABE/The Design Council’s London Advisory Board.

“Stewart has been a practising chartered town planner for 25 years in London delivering major development, housing and regeneration schemes. His experience includes rejoining the Mayor of London and GLA to deliver the London Plan and lead strategic opportunities in the Capital. Prior to that Stewart was delivering in Outer London including key opportunity areas in Barnet where he led on the £4.5 billion regeneration of Brent Cross Cricklewood and a new sustainable suburb in Mill Hill East. Recently he was at Redbridge and rolled out the Capital’s first Community Infrastructure Levy. He is a contributor to the publication: “Working Together: delivering Growth through Localism. (September 2011)”.

GALO PINTO Principal Engineer - Water, AECOM

Galo is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 13 years’ international experience in water management expanding over three continents. He is currently leading AECOM’s Water Resources team in Croydon and has previously managed the operations of Hydraulics & Hydrology team in Townsville, Australia where he was relocated for two years. Galo has a proven track record of successful project delivery for private and public clients in a variety of schemes ranging from small developments to complex multidisciplinary projects of regional importance. He has been heavily involved in the design of award winning schemes recognised for their innovative approach and sustainability benefits.

BRENDON WALSH Director of Regeneration, Economic Development and Environment, LB Hounslow

Brendon is the Director of Regeneration, Economic Development and Environment. Over the last 13 years Brendon has led large scale successful town centre regeneration projects in Oxfordshire and West London, including Didcot and Ealing town centres. In his current role Brendon is responsible for all aspects of the Borough’s physical development, including planning, property, building control and streetscape as well as leisure and public health.
