At Cairo University and attended ELNEC course at ICCN, March, 2010 Attended ELNEC-Core course in Chicago, 2014. Held first course in Ethiopia, December, 2014. Presented ELNEC modules to the program director at Eldoret Hospice Presented a 5-day ELNEC train-the-trainer course in Nairobi and presented lectures and participated in clinical rounds at Kenyatta Hospital and University of Nairobi Hospital and Hospice, July 2009. Also, presented an all-day palliative care seminar for physicians, nurses, chaplains at Kenyatta Hospital in Nairobi. Provided a 3-day palliative care leadership course for nurses, physicians, and social workers from Aga Khan University, KEHPCA, Kimbilio, Nairobi, and Nyeri Hospices, and MTRH in Eldoret. Additional presentations made at MTRH on pain and symptom assessment and management. In 2015, an ELNEC course was held in Kip Karen, Kenya. Nurses and physicians not only from Kenya attended, but also healthcare professionals from Ethiopia, Swaziland, and Uganda were represented. Presented ELNEC in September 2012 in Nairobi with 100 attendees. Started a 24-bed hospice in KipKaren, Kenya and International Director of Living Room International. Works in Liberia to set-up nursing education. Trained as both a nurse and a chaplain, John champions improved palliative care for those in Liberia. Provided pain management information to the owner & Chief Medical Officer of Maranatha Hospital in Aba, Nigeria Lecturer at the University of Ibadan Teaching of pain management courses to undergraduate and practicing nurses in Nigeria Presented paper at Palliative care nursing conference in Dakar, Senegal Taught End-of-Life Care and Breaking Bad News for nurses and physicians at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. Serving as the coordinator of the Center for Palliative Care, Nigeria. Works with Hospice Without Borders and uses the ELNEC curriculum for educating staff. Accompanied by ELNEC faculty, Nessa Coyle, Patrick Coyne, and Judy Paice, an ELNEC training program was presented to nurses from Tanzania and other African countries (supported by the Oncology Nursing Foundation). Gilchrist Hospice has a partnership with a hospice in Tanzania. Marilyn visited there in Feb 2012. Attended ELNEC-Kenya course, May 2015 in Kip Karen, Kenya.

Presented ELNEC to four Zambian military nurses. These nurses will begin a palliative care program in a military hospital in Zambia. Returned to Zambia in 2007 and taught ELNEC to an interdisciplinary group of 24 healthcare professionals. Provided ELNEC training to nurses at the Ranchhod Hospice in Kabwe, Zambia. Most recent trip was October 07. Was a guest lecturer and consultant on palliative care issues at Municipal Health Bureau in Guangzhou, China • Lecture 1-2 times/year to health administrators and professionals from Guangzhou, China during educational sessions at CSU/Northridge. Taught at the first ELNEC-Chinese train-the-trainer course in Beijing, China, 2015.

Organized a team of nurses to translate ELNEC into Chinese. Hosted first national ELNEC train-thetrainer course in Beijing, China, 2015. Teaching ELNEC at hospices Works at the Pediatric Oncology Institute at the Federal University of Sao Paulo and attended the 2011 national ELNEC-Pediatric Palliative Care train-the-trainer course in Indiana. Initiating a palliative care program for cancer patients at a federal hospital connected with a Brazilian University in Rio de Janeiro Spoke on cancer nursing at conference Translating Cure4Kids ELNEC curriculum into Portuguese, Instituto de Oncologia Pediatrica— GRAACC in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Attended ELNEC-Core in October 2008. Lives in Peru and is working with Peruvian Board of Nursing to provide ELNEC throughout Peru and Chile Coordinated pediatric palliative care seminar in Brazil with ELNEC trainers. Wrote an end-of-life textbook, using ELNEC data. Taught ELNEC at XVI Coloquio Nacional de Investigacion en Enfermeria in Colombia. Uses portions of ELNEC curriculum for courses “Home Based Care for People Living with HIV/AIDS” and “Palliative Care/End-of-Life Care for People with AIDS.” Lectured and consulted at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul-Escola de Enfermagem in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

This on-line presentation of ELNEC - Pediatric Palliative Care was a collaborative effort among Cure4kids of the International Outreach Program of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the City of Hope Medical Center and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. In the first four months since it has gone worldwide, this site has been accessed by 2627 people with the majority from low resource countries.
