What is Available to You! 

From the library homepage, you have access to: Magazine/journal articles are available through our article databases.  Reference books are available through our Virtual Reference Library database.  The online library catalog helps you find regular books or search the e-book collection directly.  Journal search engine helps you locate full text articles at IWU. 

What you will need before you begin using a database… 

A library access number 



This number will be emailed to you from OCLS to your MYEMAIL account or call OCLS. It begins with the numbers: 

Online Databases Finding Articles for Your Research

Click on Business, under Article Databases.

Locate the database.

Click on Thesaurus to discover the best way to search for your topic. Using “their” words helps you get the most relevant articles on your topics. Associate Library Instruction

Type your topic in the box. Click on Browse. Associate Library Instruction

If you do not see any match, think of synonyms and try again or go to the top search box and search by keyword. You will then get articles that contain your term. Associate Library Instruction

Check mark as many as you feel are relevant to your research. Note that I checked EMPLOYEE motivation & INCENTIVES in industry. Associate Library Instruction

Yikes!

We got a lot of results! You can check mark Full Text on the left side and limit to only the full text articles. You can also limit to just the scholarly articles and/or change the date range. Associate Library Instruction

Even limiting to a year range of 2009-2015 and only full text, there still are over 6,700 articles available and it is updated daily! Note the links to the full articles.Associate Library Instruction

Books Finding e-books from IWU or a Local Library

How can I access an e-book through IWU? Click on: Ebrary or EBSCO eBooks. Authenticate (like you did for articles). Associate Library Instruction

Enter your topic to view a list of e-books that contain your term. They will be sorted with the most relevant listed first. To make the results more relevant, quotation marks were used around the term. Associate Library Instruction

By creating an account, you can create your own “Bookshelf” of favorite books and can add notes and highlighting. This also allows for downloading parts or all of the book. Follow the on screen directions for downloading.
