WRITER OF THE WEEK – ETHAN ISHAC – 5S PORTAL OF DOOM CRASH! Two boys and girls named Emily and Brandon heard a loud noise from their house in a tree. As they started walking towards the noise a swelling sound caught their ears. They turned around to see a black portal sucking them towards it. “What do we do?” said Emily. “We can’t…” said Brandon. Suddenly they came to a dark place where black magma and zombies surrounded them. Back at the house their parents woke up to find them missing. They ran outside and began to work out what happened. Back inside the portal the kids approached a spirit called Black Doom. He said that he is the master and that no one has ever left. He mocked, “If you find a cave with a black diamond you will be dent home.” “Emily”, whispered Brandon. “This place is like home. Follow me!” They approached the cave and discovered a black diamond. As they walked back a massive orange spider started chasing them. They out ran the spider and got back to Black Doom and were transported back to the forest through the portal. “Emily, Brandon”, shouted their relieved parents. They both hugged their parents deeply and promised never to wander off again.

SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE VC

On Monday 11th November 1/2W and on Thursday 13th November 3/4R and 5/6O will be participating in a Virtual Excursion in our schools AV Room titled, ‘Staging Stories’ & ‘Discover the Stage’. This Virtual Excursion, presented by The Sydney Opera House. This practical, interactive drama workshop, facilitated by professional actors and drama educators from Monkey Baa Theatre Company, offers students the exciting opportunity to experience being in the Sydney Opera House as an actor on stage. Students will actively participate in performance exercises including vocal and physical warm-ups and practical drama tasks, developing their understanding of dramatic context and the elements of drama. The workshop includes theatre etiquette, performance terminology and dramatic skills, allowing students to explore storytelling, mime, role and sequencing action to create meaning. Students will also have the opportunity to develop listening, interaction and presentation skills through group tasks and collaboration, using nonverbal communication skills such facial expression, body and movement. We hope that the students enjoy this experience. Kirsty Rayner, Assistant Principal
