This role reports to the Treasury Manager as part of the new Treasury Management function within ActionAid. The role holder will play a vital part in the rollout of a federation-wide model for Treasury Management: • • •

Role Overview:



Working in conjunction with the Treasury Manager to provide an efficient and effective Treasury service. Playing a pivotal role in reviewing current practice and identifying development opportunities within the treasury department. Being the first point of call for senior stakeholders across the organisation in relation to the day to day management of the treasury function. Deputising for the Treasury Manager in his absence and representing the treasury department as the organisation’s subject matter expert in committees across the federation as necessary.

The role requires excellent communication and customer service skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, treasury subject matter expertise gained in an international organisation, an understanding of macro-economic issues relevant to treasury management, change management experience, experience with treasury or accounting systems and excel and strong analytical skills.

engage with senior stakeholders across the federation, understand and communicate relationship requirements with potential financial service providers and provide subject matter expertise in best practice treasury processes and risk management in order to design, test and rollout a coordinated treasury model. The roleholder is expected to have a significant impact upon funding available to programmes by helping to identify efficiency savings and improving financial transaction pricing available to the organisation. The roleholder will also have a significant impact on prudent risk management practice across the organisation in order to protect the reputation of ActionAid and to ensure financial assets are correctly managed within an ethical investment framework. The roleholder is expected to be innovative in being able to provide support and input to the Treasury Manager in establishing best practice co-ordinated treasury services to the organisation. This is a new department within ActionAid and there is scope to have a real impact upon programmes by challenging existing practices and bring an innovative attitude to the role.

Treasury Management Operations

Examples of activities the roleholder can expect to be involved with in the new model include: • Analysis and execution of foreign exchange trading and money market activity to ensure optimal proceeds for programmes. • Cashflow forecasting and liquidity risk management. • Analysis and reporting of investment holdings. • Analysis and reporting of macro-economic conditions and events that might impact the organisation’s treasury activity and risk profile. • Ensuring that all currency and money market transactions are processed and confirmed in an efficient manner prior to cut-off times. • Responding to trade queries and settlement issues by communicating with bank counterparties and settlements department. • Acting as the main contact point for all payment investigations, including sanctions compliance. • Deputise for the Treasury Manager in their absence in order to provide seamless treasury services to the organisation and to represent treasury in management meetings as necessary. • Preparing and reconciling daily cash position, weekly and monthly cash flow reports across accounts. • Static database maintenance of accurate foreign exchange and interest rate data in financial system. • Liaising with banks on standard regulatory filings and account documentation. • Maintaining bank signatories for bank accounts, internet banking platforms and treasury systems. • Assisting in reviewing new international supplier bank account details. The roleholder will undertake the following key activities as it pertains to the current processes: • Ensuring all affiliate cash forecasts and remittance requests are up to date, recorded and approved by the appropriate manager. • Ensuring the most cost effective sourcing of currency and reducing exposure to currency fluctuations in country and within AAIS. • Ensuring timely transfer of funds in appropriate currencies to all parts of ActionAid in agreement with the approved table of remittances. • Producing monthly reconciliation and analysis of actual cash remitted versus forecast to include intercompany reconciliations to analyse and feedback on time from request to execution. • Managing remittances payable to Ayuda en Accion and ensure remittances occur in a timely fashion and that balance sheet accounts are reconciled. • Supporting treasury manager in identifying potential improvement sin remittance process in order to reduce costs. • • • •
