zuzetno mi je zadovoljstvo da sve pozdravim na početku novog kvalifi kacionog ciklusa naše „A” reprezentacije, na putu ka Svetskom prvenstvu u Brazilu 2014. godine. Od ovog trenutka, počinje naša borba, ispunjena i željom i optimizmom, da se Srbija može naći na smotri najboljih u zemlji u kojoj se živi za fudbal. Na početku misije igraćemo protiv dve ostrvske ekipe - Škotske i Velsa. Još po saznanju protivnika u grupi istaknuto je da je naša grupa veoma izjednačena, tako da svaka utakmica predstavlja derbi, bod iz svakog obračuna je podjednako važan. Verujem u selektora Sinišu Mihajlovića, njegov metod rada i igrače iz sastava naše reprezentacije. Jednostavno, verujem u nas, u naše zajedništvo, u naš kvalitet, u naš motiv. Verujem i u naše navijače. S njihovom pomoći, sa ispunjenim tribinama, sa hukom u leđa, na krilima te podrške, sigurno će nam biti lakše. Pozivam sve da već od meča protiv Velsa u Novom Sadu pokažemo jedinstvo i koračamo na ispunjenju cilja. Apelujem na sve da u duhu fer-pleja, korektnog navijanja, poštovanjem protivnika, svih aktera utakmice i podrškom našem timu pokažemo snagu i moć na svim nivoima. Neka fudbalska Evropa i svet čuju kako je jaka Srbija! Svaki početak je posebno težak. Sa sobom nosi draž neizvesnosti, posebne težine. Verujem u dobar start, kao najavu uspešnog završetka, na radost svih... Srećno nam bilo, do Brazila 2014!

t is my great pleasure to greet you at the start of the new qualifying round for our senior national team, on their way to 2014 World Cup in Brazil. From this moment on, we begin our battle, filled with desire and optimism that Serbia could join the top national teams, playing in a country where people live for football... At the beginning of our mission, we will play against two teams from the British Isles – Scotland and Wales. Ever since it became known out which teams would be included in our group, it was said that their prospects would be equal, so that every match would be a derby, and every point would have equal importance... I believe in head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, his method of operation and our national team’s players. Simply, I believe in us, our fellowship, our quality, our motivation... I believe in our supporters as well. With their help and support, and the roar of a full stadium at our back, it will certainly be easier for us. I call on to all of us to show our unity from the very first match against Wales in Novi Sad and march onwards to achieve our goals. I call on to everyone to show our power and strength at every level, in the spirit of fair-play, by decent supporting respect for the opponent and every other match participant and great support for our team. Let the European and world football hear of Serbia’s strength! Every beginning is hard. But it has that special charm of uncertainty. D

ošli smo do početka kvalifikacija za Svetsko prvenstvo u Brazilu 2014. godine. Prethodnih meseci smo se pripremali za to, a sada su konačno pred nama i prve utakmice: protiv Škotske u Glazgovu i protiv Velsa u Novom Sadu. Ovo su za nas veoma važne kvalifikacije. Govorio sam i ranije, ponoviću i u ovom trenutku, da smatram da Srbija može da se plasira na Mondijal u Brazilu. Naravno, mnogo rada i truda moramo da uložimo u ispunjenje te misije. Za nas ova akcija ne počinje sada, otvorili smo je još na turneji po završetku protekle sezone. Naša grupa „A” veoma je teška. Realnost je da svako svakoga može da pobedi, ali i od svakoga da izgubi. Najbolji takmičari će na kraju zauzeti i najviša mesta na tabeli, verujem da će Srbija biti među njima. Prva utakmica uvek nosi posebnu težinu, niz specifičnosti, njen značaj je veliki. Zato, duel protiv Škota za nas je izuzetno važan. Sistem takmičenja je takav da samo tri dana kasnije igramo protiv Velsa kod kuće. Zato, imam istovetno mišljenje o oba meča, opisani značaj važi i za duel koji nas očekuje u Novom Sadu. Otvoreno govorim o svemu još od dolaska na mesto selektora reprezentacije. Zato, mogu samo da ponovim stav da imamo mladu i kvalitetnu reprezentaciju, kojoj je potrebna nadogradnja i strpljenje. Svakog protivnika izuzetno respektujemo i nijednog se ne plašimo. Na kraju, pozivam navijače da budu uz nas, svim srcem i u velikom broju, posebno na utakmici protiv Velsa u Novom Sadu. Apelujem na fer i sportsko ponašanje, na korektno navijanje, na poštovanju protivnika u svakom smislu i na ogromnoj podršci reprezentaciji Srbije. Zajedno, do Brazila !

e have reached the start of the qualifying round for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. We have been preparing for it for the past few months, and now we are finally about to play the first matches: against Scotland in Glasgow and Wales in Novi Sad. This qualifying round is a very important one for us. I said it before, and I will say it again now, I think Serbia is able to qualify for World Cup in Brazil. Of course, we need a lot work and effort to complete this mission. For us, this campaign does not start now, we have started it as early as of the tour organized after the last season ended, and we continue in the same manner. Our Group “A” is very hard. Realistically, any team could beat any other, but also lose to it. The best contenders will take the top places in the end, and I hope Serbia will be among those teams. The first match is always hard, it has a number of specific aspects, and its significance is great. This is why the match against Scotland is extremely important to us. The schedule of the qualifying competition is such that, only three days after, we must play against Wales at home. That is why I have the same opinion about both matches, and the significance I have spoken about applies to the match in Novi Sad as well. I have been open about everything since I have been appointed to the position of head coach of the national team. So I can only repeat that we have a young and good national team, which needs development and patience. We have great respect for every opponent and we are not afraid of any team. Finally, I invite supporters to be with us, with all of their hearts and in large numbers, especially at the match against Wales in Novi Sad. I call for fair and sportsmanlike behaviour, decent supporting, respect for the opponent in every way and great support for Serbian national team. Together on our way to Brazil!

Milan Biševac SIGURNIM KORACIMA DO CILJA TAKING FIRM STEPS TO REACH THE GOAL

M

alo je naših fudbalera koji su igračku karijeru i ljudsku zrelost tako postepeno i sugurno gradili kao što je to činio Milan Biševac. Strpljivo i polako, ne preskočivši ni jednu stepenicu u svom razvoju, Biševac je dostigao evropsku klasu. Jedino u čemu se možda razlikuje od većine sadašnjih reprezentativaca je to što njegovi počeci nisu bili u velikom klubu... Biševac je karijeru počeo u BASK-u, da bi preko Sopota, Železnika i Crvene zvezde, stigao da u Francuskoj promeni četiri kluba. Kada je iz Zvezde odlazio u Lens ispraćen je sa dozom skepse, jer to nije bio klub od bogate tradicije. Put ga je brzo, za samo četiri godine, uzlaznom putanjom, od Valensijena i Pari Sen Žermena, doveo do šampionskog Olimpika iz Liona. I svuda, u svakoj sredini u kojoj je živeo i igrao, ostavio je dubok trag - kao igrač i kao čovek. Ekipe su u njemu imale veliki i siguran oslonac. Krasile su ga ozbiljnost i čvrstina, a to su osobine koje svaki trener voli i poštuje kod fudbalera. Odskočna daska u karijeri Biševca bile su igre u Železniku. Bio je to jasan signal Crvenoj zvezdi da Milanu može da poveri važnu ulogu. I bilo je tako: Zvezda se nije pokajala. U velikom klubu Biševac se snašao odlično: odmah je postao stub odbrane tima. Biševac je bio i deo istorijske priče srpske reprezentacije, koja je debitovala na međunarodnoj sceni protiv Češke u Uherskom Hradištu. Pre toga, dokazivao se u Mladoj reprezentaciji na evropskom prvenstvu. Jedno vreme posle toga, Biševac je bio po strani, sve dok ga novi selektor Siniša Mihajlović nije vratio na reprezentativnu pozornicu. Sada, u novi ciklus takmičenja za odlazak na Svetsko prvenstvo 2014, Milan Biševac ulazi sa godinama pune igračke zrelosti, baš kada se dostiže sportski zenit...

T

here are not many Serbian players who have built their playing careers so gradually and steadily as Milan Bisevac have. Patiently and slowly, without skipping a single step in his development, Bisevac has reached the European level. Perhaps the only thing that sets him apart from the majority of the current members of national team is the fact that his beginnings were not in a big club... Bisevac started his career in BASK and after Sopot, Zeleznik and Red Star he even managed to change four clubs in France. When he was leaving Red Star for Lens, many were sceptical, since it was not a football club with rich tradition. In only four years, his career led him onwards from Valenciennes and Paris Saint-German to the champion club of Olympique Lyonnais. And everywhere he lived and played, he left a deep mark – both as player and a man. The teams he played for could largely and safely rely on him. He had seriousness and stamina, which are the traits every coach loves and respects in a football player. It was Bisevac’s performances in Zeleznik that had advanced his career. It was a clear signal for Red Star that they could trust him with a significant role in the team. And so it was: Red Star did not regret it. Bisevac quickly found his place in a large club: he immediately became the principal player of team’s defence. Bisevac is also a part of the history of Serbian national team which made its international debut in a match against Czech Republic in Uherske Hradiste. Before that, he had proved himself by playing for the national U-21 team at the European Championship. For a while after that, Biševac was kept aside, until head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic brought him back to national team. Now, Milan Bisevac is about to start the new qualifying competition for 2014 World Cup as a mature player, at an age when his skills are at their peak...

elški fudbal je, u takmičarskom smislu, imao mali uticaj u modernom dobu te igre, ali je bio pionir udruživanja i kreiranja fudbalskih načela u Međunarodnom bordu, koji određuje pravila igre. Fudbalska federacija Velsa je, posle Engleske i Škotske, zvanično trećeosnovana asocijacija na svetu. Nosilac razvoja fudbala u Velsu bio je severni deo države. U drugoj polovini 19. veka severni deo Velsa bio je tesno povezan sa industrijski razvijenijim delovima Engleske, susednim oblastima Češir i Lankašir. Takve veze bile su presudne za brzi razvoj fudbala u tom delu zemlje, nasuprot južnog dela, koji je decenijama tavorio. Zato u Velsu smatraju da koreni razvoja fudbala leže u severnom delu zemlje i da se tamo nalazi kolevka te igre. Fudbalska federacija Velsa (FAW) formirana je 1876. godine u Vreksemu od grupe poslovnih ljudi, koji su želeli da organizuju prvi međunarodni susret protiv Škotske. Problemi u razvoja fudbala u Velsu pratili su igru od samog početka i tog susreta sa Škotskom. Sukob i rivalstvo između severa i juga protezalo se u narednih nekoliko decenija. Naime, u pripremi za prvi međunarodni meč izostavljeni su fudbaleri iz južnog dela zemlje. To je objektivno bio veliki problem, jer su godine i decenije protekle dok FAW u nacionalni tim nije uključila i „južnjake”. U Velsu smatraju da je glavni pokretač razvoja i rasta popularnosti fudbala bio Bili Meredit, legendarno desno krilo mesnog kluba iz grada Čirka. On je nastupajući za svoj matični klub, ali i za Mančester junajted i Mančester siti, u razmaku od 1893. do 1924. godine, u karijeri odigrao preko 1.100 zvaničnih utakmica, a proslavio se, baš kao što to danas čini, takođe, legendarni Rajan Gigs.

n competitive terms, Welsh football had a small influence in the game’s modern age, but it had a pioneering role in the history of football associations and creation of the football rules within the International Football Association Board that defines the Laws of the Game. Football Association of Wales is the third-oldest national association, established after England’s and Scotland’s. Football had primarily developed in the north of the country. In the second half of 19th century, the north of Wales was closely associated with industrially developed parts of England, the neighbouring areas of Cheshire and Lancashire. Such ties were crucial for football’s fast development within this part of the country, as opposed to the southern parts, which had been stagnating for years. This is why people in Wales think that football’s roots stem from the northern part of their country and that the game’s origin dates back to their homeland. Football Association of Wales (FAW) was established in 1876 in Wrexham by a group of business entrepreneurs, who wanted to organize the first international match against Scotland. The troubles with football development in Wales started with this very match against Scotland. Conflict and rivalry between the North and the South extended over the next few decades. It resulted from the fact that football players from the southern part of the country had been left out during the preparations for the first international game. This presented a serious problem, because it took decades until FAW has included the “Southerners” in the national team. Popular opinion in Wales is that the main contributor to football’s development and rising popularity was Billy Meredith, legendary “outside right” of the local club from Chirk. In the period between 1893 and 1924, while playing for his home club, as well as for Manchester United and Manchester City, Meredith played at over 1,100 official matches, becoming as famous as, also legendary, Ryan Giggs...

Sve utakmice do Prvog svetskog rata Vels je uglavnom igrao u severnom delu države i gradu Vreksemu. To je izazivalo veliku netrpeljivost između razvijenijeg severa i siromašnijeg juga. Tek mnogo godina kasnije reprezentacija je počela da nastupa i u južnim gradovima Kardifu i Svonsiju. Danas su ta dva grada baza nacionalnog tima Velsa. Fudbal se u Velsu, u odnosu na Englesku, Irsku i Škotsku, sporije razvijao. Na to su uticale okolnosti, koje nisu išle na ruku tom sportu. U toj zemlji, kao ni u jednoj drugoj na ostrvu, ragbi se smatra sportskim simbolom. Velšani su ponosni na to što njihova ragbi reprezentacija redovno učestvuje na turniru „Šest nacija”. Pored ragbija, Velšani su čuveni i u kriketu, profesionalnom boksu i snukeru. Za istoriju razvoja fudbala u Velsu, ali i kao svetski kuriozitet, zanimljiv je sledeći podatak: Velšani su nacionalni kup počeli da igraju 1877. godine. U njemu su učestvovale sve domaće ekipe, ali za razliku od drugih ostrvskih zemalja, mogli su da se takmiče i engleski klubovi, koji su bili u neposrednom okruženju Velsa. Premijer liga Velsa ima 12 klubova. Osnovana je 1992. godine. Ni jedan klub iz nacionalne lige Velsa nije zvučno evropsko ime, pogoto što u engleskoj premijer ligi već nekoliko godina igra njihov najbolji klub Svonsi. Reprezentacija Velsa se posle završetka Prvog svetskog rata suočila sa ogromnim problemom, jer je većina njegovih najboljih fudbalera igrala za engleske klubove i nisu stalno bili na raspolaganju nacionalnom timu. Ipak, Vels je sedam puta bio pobednik britanskog prvenstva. Prvu titulu osvojio je 1907, a poslednju tri decenije kasnije - 1937. godine.

Until World War I, Wales played all of its matches in the northern part of the country and the city of Wrexham. This caused a great hostility between the more developed North and the underprivileged South. Many years after, the national team started playing in southern cities of Cardiff and Swansea. Today, the two cities form the basis of Welsh national team. Football developed slowly in Wales, as compared to its development in England, Ireland and Scotland. This was the result of a number of circumstances that were unfavourable for the game’s growth. In this country, unlike any other on the Isles, rugby is seen as true sport. Welsh are proud that their national rugby team regularly competes in the “Six Nations” championship. Apart from rugby, the Welsh are famous for cricket, professional boxing and snooker. The following facts are a part of the history of football’s development in Wales, as well as a global curiosity: Welsh started playing their national cup in 1877. It was contested by all national clubs, but unlike other countries of the British Isles, the English clubs, located in the Wales’s immediate proximity, were also allowed to participate. Welsh Premier League includes 12 football clubs. It was established in 1992. No club from the Wales’ national competition is much renowned in Europe, especially since their best club, Swansea, has been competing within the English Premier League for several years. After World War I ended, Welsh national team faced a serious problem since the majority of its best players were playing for English clubs and were not constantly available for the national team. Nevertheless, Wales won the British championship seven times. It won its first title in 1907 and the last one three decades later – in 1937.

takmicom protiv Makedonije počeli smo ciklus takmičenja u kvalifikacijama za odlazak na Evropsko prvenstvo u Izrael, a protiv istog rivala i završavamo važno razdoblje u srpskom fudbalu. Na sportskom polju, Makedonija je naš veliki dužnik, jer smo u Skoplju, posle penala dosuđenog u poslednjim minutima, izgubili dva velika boda. Po igri smo bili bliži pobedi i sa ta dva boda danas bi sve bilo drugačije. Taj penal i bodovi, koji su nam bili na dohvat ruke, još su nam u mislima... Mladi fudbaleri Srbije zato imaju veliki motiv da uspešno završe kvalifikacije u pobedničkom ritmu. Makedonija je naš veliki rival i još veći sportski prijatelj. To uvek imamo na umu. Srbija, međutim, i u poslednjoj utakmici ima veliki motiv da igra na pobedu. Želimo da uoči početka baraža podignemo formu svih igrača na još viši nivo. Trijumfom protiv Makedonije stekli bismo dodatno samopouzdanje pred dve odlučujuće utakmice baraža. U toj poslednjoj, odsudnoj rundi takmičenja, naći će se ukupno 14 najboljih mladih reprezentacija Evrope. Mi želimo da budemo, ne samo učesnici plej - ofa, nego i finalnog turnira u Izraelu. Na to nas obavezuju rezultati koje su naši mladi fudbaleri skoro čitavu minulu deceniju postizali na evropskim prvenstvima. Mislim da imamo dobar potencijal i da grupa sa kojom skoro pune dve godine radim to obećava i zaslužuje. Verujem u moral i čvrstinu izabranih momaka i siguran sam da nas ni ovaga puta neće razočarati...

W

ith the match against FYROM, we have started the qualifying cycle for the European Championship in Israel, and with the match against the same team we will close an important chapter of Serbian football. Namely, we need to settle a big score with FYROM, since we lost two important points in Skopje, after a penalty kick had been awarded in the final minutes of the match. Based on our teams’ performances, we were closer to winning that match, and with that two points, everything would have been different today. We are still thinking about that penalty kick and the points that were in our grasp... This is why members of the Serbian national U-21 team are highly motivated to finish the qualifying round as winners. FYROM is our great sports rival and even a greater friend. We must have that in mind at all times. However, it is important for Serbian national team to win in the final match as well. We want to bring all our players’ form to an even higher level before the playoffs. Our win against FYROM would give us additional confidence before the two crucial playoff matches. The final and decisive round of competition will be contested by top 14 European national U-21 teams. We do not want only to participate in the playoffs, we also want to contest the final tournament in Israel. We have a duty to do that because of the results that our young players have achieved so far at the European Championship tournaments. I think we have good potential and the group of players I have been working with for almost two years is promising and deserving. I believe in the morale and stamina of the selected players and I am certain that, this time, they will not disappoint us either... rpsko dete na terenima Holadnije izrasta u ozbiljnog fudbalera, koji u perspektivi treba da bude nosilac igre i najbolje selekcije Srbije. Nemanja Gudelj je rođeni Beograđanin, ali je po odrastanju i fudbalskom karakteru, izdanak nadaleko čuvene holandske škole. Kada je njegov otac Nebojša, pre dve decenije napuštao Partizan i ondašnju Jugoslaviju, u pelenama je poneo tek rođenog prvenca Nemanju. Otac je svoje majstorije prikazivao holandskoj publici, a sin, uz njega, upijao svaki potez i učio prve fudbalske korake. Posle toliko vremena, svako na svoj način, otac i sin, ostavili su veliki trag u holandskom fudbalu. Senior Nebojša je došavši iz trebinjskog Leotara za godinu, dve provedenih u Partizanu ostavio odličan utisak. Danas njegov naslednik Nemanja nastavlja tamo gde je on počeo da gradi profesionalnu karijeru. Kao član mlade reprezentacije Srbije i NAC Brede, Nemanja traži sebi mesto među istinskim profesionalcima fudbalske Evrope. I dok je Nebojša Gudelj, u viziji tadašnjeg trenera Partizana i selektora Jugoslavije Ivice Osima, dobio ulogu levog beka, sin Nemanja u Mladoj reprezentaciji Srbije sličan posao obavlja na desnoj strani. Nije to prava, ili kako danas mladi to vole da kažu - Nemanjina prirodna pozicija, ali on svoj zadatak izvrsno obavlja. U formaciji koju neguje selektor mlade reprezentacije Aleksandar Janković, Gudelj je jedinstveni džoker. Gde zaškripi, gde treba da se “zakrpi rupa”, Gudelj je tu da obavi svaki zadatak. On ne bira - ni mesto, ni ulogu u timu... Do sada je najviše puta igrao uz desnu aut - liniju i na poziciji centarhalfa. Gudelj je, međutim, izraziti i izvanredni igrač sredine terena. Od svih mladih fudbalera Srbije, Nemanja je, čini se, najmanje poznat široj javnosti. Formirajući se u Bredi, Nemanja je primio sve karakteristike holandskih fudbalera - čvrstinu, borbenost, odgovornost i taktičku obučenost. Ali, mladi Gudelj u Holandiji igra na sasvim drugom mestu. Oni koji ga dobro poznaju kažu da je Nemanja pravi tip fudbalera sredine terena, koga krase velika pokretljivost, disciplina i izuzetna odgovornost. Visoka tehnika se, naravno, podrazumeva.

erbian child, playing on the Netherland’s fields, has grown into a serious football player who should be one of the pillars of the Serbian senior national team in the future. Nemanja Gudelj was born in Belgrade, but his growing up and football character were shaped by the famous Dutch school of football... When his father Nebojsa left Partizan and Yugoslavia two decades ago, he brought his recently born son Nemanja, still in diapers, with him. While the father displayed his talents before the Dutch audiences, the son beside him was learning every move and making his first football steps. After so much time, they both left a deep mark in Dutch football, each in his own way. His father Nebojsa, after he had come from the club of Leotar from Trebinje, made a great impression in a year or two he spent playing for Partizan. Today, his heir Nemanja is continuing his professional career at the club where his father started it. As a member of the Serbian national U-21 team and NAC Breda, Nemanja is looking for his place among the true football professionals of Europe. And while Nebojsa Gudelj was assigned the role of left-back by Ivica Osim, then-current coach of Partizan and head coach of the Yugoslav national team, his son Nemanja does a similar job in the Serbian national U-21 team, but on the right side. This is not Nemanja’s true, or as young people like to say, natural position, but he performs his duties exceptionally. In a formation insisted on by the head coach of the Serbian national U-21 team Aleksandar Janković, Gudelj represents a unique trump card. When there is a problem, when a “gap needs to be filled“, Gudelj je is there to perform any task assigned to him. He is not picky – either about his position or role in the team... So far, he has mostly played along the right touch line and at the position of centre-half. However, Gudelj is also an outstanding midfielder. Among all Serbian youth players, Nemanja seems to be the least well-known to the general public. During his formative years in NAC Breda, Nemanja took on all of the characteristics of Dutch players – stamina, vigour, responsibility and tactical skills. But, young Gudelj plays at an entirely different position in the Netherlands. Those who know him well say that Nemanja is a true midfielder, having agility, discipline and great responsibility. An advanced technique is, naturally, implied...

lađe fudbalske selekcije Makedonije, kao uostalom i „A” reprezentacija, nikada od osamostaljivanja i izlaska iz jugoslovenske federacije, nisu igrale zapaženu ulogu u evropskim takmičenjima. Ni nakon razlaza duboke međusobne veze i sličnosti nisu prekinute. Makedonija pripada korpusu zemalja sa istom fudbalskom školom, koja je jugoslovenski fudbal proslavljala sedam decenija. Udeo Makedonaca u tome nije bio zanemarljiv. Makedonski fudbaleri su oduvek bili interesantni za srpske klubove, pa su mnogi od njih vrh karijere dostizali u našim sredinama. S druge strane, srpski klubovi su na makedonskom prostoru nalazili dovoljno dobre igrače, koji su unapređivali ovdašnji fudbal. Od posleratnog Džine Simonovskog, preko Dimovkog, Dojčinovskog, pa Istatova, Najdovskog, Pančeva, Stanojkovića, Stojkovskog, Hristova i drugih, Makedonci su karijere gradili u srpskim klubovima. Takvih primera ima mnogo više nego što nam prostor dopušta da se nabroje sva imena. Srpski i makedonski fudbal i danas povezuje zajednička nit sudbine - da najtalentovaniji fudbaleri rano napuštaju matične klubove i sreću traže u bogatijim sredinama. Najtalentovaniji mladi fudbaleri Makedonije se, kao i u Srbiji, rano otiskuju u pečalbu. Na tom putu, punom iskušenja i izazova, mnogo Makedonaca, kao uostalom i Srba, se izgubi i ne dočeka da se ispune njihovi snovi. Mladi fudbaleri Makedonije su u kvalifikacijama za Izrael bili onaj jezičak na vagi, koji je mogao da odluči o tuđoj sudbini. Pokazalo se, ipak, da su po kvalitetu još uvek iza srpskih i danskih vršnjaka, koji su vodili glavnu reč u grupi. Svoje „oštre zube” Makedonci su pokazali u prvoj utakmici u Skoplju, kada su Srbima oduzeli dva „planirana” boda. Došlo je vreme da Srbija sada izravna račune, ali i obnovi veliko prijateljstvo sa fudbalskom Makedonijom.

ince Macedonians left the Yugoslav federation and became an independent country, its youth national teams, as well as its senior one, never achieved any truly noticeable results at the European competitions. After the dissolution of the former country, deep connections and similarities remained. Macedonia belongs to a group of countries with the same school of football, which had made the Yugoslav football prominent for seven decades. The Macedonian contribution was not negligible. Macedonia football players have always been interesting to Serbian clubs, so many of them saw the peak of their careers while playing here. On the other hand, Serbian football clubs found good players in Macedonia who improved our football. From the post-war player Dzina Simonovski, to Dimovski and Dojcinovski, to Istatov, Najdovski, Pancev, Stanojkovic, Stojkovski, Hristov and others, Macedonian players made their careers in Serbian clubs. There are much more examples, but the space does not allow us to include all the names. Serbian and Macedonia football are also connected by the same fate – the most talented players have been leaving their local clubs and going off to more developed countries. The most talented young Macedonian players, just like their Serbian counterparts, are leaving their country at an early age. On that road, full of temptation and challenges, many of the Macedonian players, like the Serbian ones, become lost and never see their dreams come true. In the qualifying round for European Championship in Israel, the young Macedonian players were the ones who could have decided the fate of others. However, it showed that the quality of their performance was still behind the one of their Serbian and Danish peers who were the best in the group. Macedonians “showed their teeth” at the first match held in Skopje, when they took the two points the Serbian national team was “counting on”. It is time for Serbia to settle the score, but also to renew the great friendship with Macedonian football...
