Dear Colleagues, As the franchise industry continues to work through a slow, sluggish and uneven economic recovery, an insight from Michael Porter of the Harvard Business School becomes increasingly relevant; “Innovation is the central issue in economic prosperity.”

Jon Luther

Stephen J. Caldeira

The 2012 IFA Executive Leadership Conference will focus on the need for innovation and entrepreneurship to help the industry grow and prosper. This by-invitation-only program for c-level franchise executives and multi-unit operators offers high-level, face-to-face engagement on the most pressing issues and challenges we face today. We will bring together best-in-class speakers, political and economic thought leaders and business strategists in an intimate setting to promote in-depth discussions and interactive learning among you and your peers. Scheduled for October 29-31, the 2012 Executive Leadership Conference will take place at the Broadmoor Hotel & Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The program includes compelling presentations from top experts, but this year the agenda also includes smaller workshops to provide for thoughtful discussion among attendees to identify potential solutions to many of the challenging issues you are facing as a franchise leader. We would like to personally invite you to join us at what we believe is one of the most compelling programs available for today’s franchise business leader. We can assure you that the relationships and innovative ideas you will gain from this conference will have an impact on the way you operate your business today and for years to come. Sincerely,

Jon Luther, IFA Chairman Chairman, Dunkin’Brands

Stephen J. Caldeira, CFE IFA President & CEO

PROGRAM, MONDAY OCTOBER 29 11:00 am: Registration and Networking with Table-Top Exhibitors

Keynote Speaker: Haley Barbour, former Governor of Mississippi

Use this time to get to know other franchise leaders in attendance at this important program. This is just the first of many networking opportunities for you to exchange unique experiences, perspectives and insights. Visit with our table-top exhibitors during this time, as well as throughout the program and forge strategic business alliances that will have an impact on the future success of your franchise business.

Haley Barbour, former governor of Mississippi and former chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association, is one of the top political strategists in the country. Governor Barbour will give you an update on the latest developments involving each of the prospective candidates, with an in-depth look at their positions on current national issues.

12:00 noon – 2:00 pm: Opening General Session & Luncheon Welcome: Lawrence “Doc” Cohen, CFE President & CEO, Cookie Associates (Multi-Unit Franchisee of Great American Cookies, PretzelMaker, Coffee Beanery, and TCBY) & ELC Program Chair Mike Isakson, IFA Past Chairman & ELC Program Facilitator IFA Past Chairman Mike Isakson will serve as this year’s program facilitator and will lead our audience in peer-to-peer straight talk to get answers, find solutions, and improve processes to grow their businesses. He will launch our program by engaging audience members in an open dialogue to arrive at what we are calling “Parking Lot Issues” or topics audience members identify as challenges they want to visit throughout the program. Mr. Isakson will follow up with the audience after each presentation and tie the overall themes discussed back to franchising. He will also collaborate with attendees to ensure the content delivered is addressing the parking lot issues identified at the beginning of the program so each attendee goes home with real-world solutions, new perspectives and strategic alliances to help their businesses be more successful.

Previously Governor Barbour successfully served twice as chairman of the Republican National Committee. In November 1994, under his chairmanship, Republicans won the greatest midterm majority sweep of the 20th century, winning GOP control of both houses of Congress for the first time in 40 years. Now, after his stint as head of the RGA, POLITICO calls Governor Barbour “the most powerful Republican in politics.” He has been praised for his handling of both the recent Gulf Oil Spill and Hurricane Katrina. Haley Barbour has been arranged courtesy of Leading Authorities Speakers Bureau.

“The Executive Leadership Conference is a must attend event for executives. The speakers, content and networking are invaluable to help me work ON the business and drive breakthrough results. The ROI makes attending a nobrainer decision.” Shelly Sun, CFE CEO and Co-Founder BrightStar Franchising, LLC

PROGRAM, MONDAY OCTOBER 29 2:15 pm – 3:30 pm General Session : Franchise Keynote Speaker Patrick Doyle, CEO, Dominos Domino’s CEO Patrick Doyle was recognized as Best CEO of 2011 by CNBC. His ideas and leadership have invigorated the pizza chain’s sales, increased stock value by 100% and driven down company debt by $200 million since 2007. His unconventional style of inviting independent owners to participate in franchise meetings and supporting charitable causes attracted Forbes’s nod toward Domino’s as being the most value-added franchise investment and boosted the corporate profile. Mr. Doyle says the key to success is getting support at every level of the organization when it comes to new initiatives by inviting communication and critique. Mr. Doyle oversees all company operations, strategy and vision in his role as president and CEO of Domino’s Pizza. He rose through the senior ranks of Domino’s before becoming CEO in March 2010 of the now 9,500 unit restaurant chain. He joined as senior vice president of marketing in 1997. A year later, when founder Tom Monaghan ceased being involved with the operations of the company, Domino’s was sold to private equity firm Bain Capital Inc for $1.1 billion. Bain took the company public in 2004.
