Introduction

The iCI Dashboard (interactive Continuous Improvement Dashboard) is a value realization framework tool which helps to:  Visualize improvement of selected KPI’s  Visualize value realization for lines of business

Objective

Purpose of this document:  This outline shall give an overview and introduce the navigation of the iCI Dashboard.  This outline enables the reader to create their own KPIs.  This outline describes the possibilities of personalizing and configuration of the iCI Dashboard.

Navigation

If you open the iCI Dashboard you will see this landing page.

The landing page shows you the business value scorecards. On the sample above, two scorecards are available (

), none of them are filtered. The number of available scorecards depends on the

assigned roles and a potential pre-filtering in the URL. On the top level selection (Business Values  Key Performance Indicators) you can switch between the Business Value and the KPI view.

On the pages – Business Value or KPI view – you can select a KPI in order to jump to one of the detailed screens for the selected KPI (Quick View or Input Measures). A click on the group title in the Business Value view also brings you to the KPI view. The KPIs shown in the table (KPI view) are filtered by the selected KPI group.

The screens have some global access helpers.

On the left side are 3 buttons for accessing the following functionalities: 

On the right side (LINKS) you can see maintained links to interesting URL’s.

With the two little arrows (

) you can navigate from one scorecard to another; the scorecards are

organized like a camera roll.

2.1

Views

As shown below, the data structure in the ICI is a tree structure. Under the dashboard, you can define scorecards. These scorecards represent a topic to be watched. This can be just a logical grouping but it also gives you the possibility to filter data for different target audiences. You can set up a filter via authorizations, the dashboard URL (adding parameters) or by user settings.

Business Value

The Business Value view shows KPI’s grouped by KPI groups and scorecards. KPI’s can be assigned to one or more KPI groups. The data are organized in a tree structure. The tree structure can be changed in the maintenance application ( 2.1.2

).

Key Performance Indicators

This view shows all KPI’s in use. They can be filtered by choosing a KPI group (or value bucket) from the list of available groups. Once a group was selected the KPI list is filtered by this group.

Quick View

The quick view shows the measurements for the selected KPI in several ways. The lines which are visible in the graphs can be changes in the user settings (

).

a) A KPI can have a single measurement as well as sub-measurements taken on different input sources. If the KPI is based on a single measurement the KPI results will be shown directly in one graphic: Only one graph on the left, no sub-measurements are available.

b) If sub-measurements are defined for the chosen KPI, they will be shown on the right side. For the graphs on the right side, a selection can be made in some cases (e.g. different source systems). The KPI result will be calculated out of the sub-measurement – the input measures.

Different ways of calculation are possible, depending on the KPI definition, for example: 1. Example  KPI_result = (submeasure1 + submeasure2 ) / 2 … or …  KPI_result = (0,5 * submeasure1 + 0,5 * submeasure2)  Same weighting 2. Example  KPI result = ( 0,6 * submeasure1 + 0,4 * submeasure2)  different weight of the measures

Expanded Graph

Each graph can be expanded (zoomed) by clicking on the zoom icon in the right top corner (

). As a result

a bigger graph will be shown. In this expanded view you can click on the table icon in the right top corner (

) which switch between the graph view and a table view.

Configuration

3.1

Dashboard configuration

A click on the configuration button (left navigation bar) opens a new window which allows you to adapt your dashboard configuration.

3.1.1

Personalization

A click on the personalization button (left navigation bar) opens a dialog window where you can adjust the user settings. Currently, there are two groups of settings - scorecard selection and graph settings.

The scorecard selection gives you the possibility to hide unneeded scorecards from your view. By default you see all scorecards which you got authorizations for and whose data are available. In the graph settings section you can define if standard graph lines will be shown in the graphs or not. Sometimes users do not want to see all lines.

3.2

Filtering scorecards

You can set up a filter for scorecards via authorizations (roles which are assigned to users) and via the user settings which can be done in the personalization dialog.
