How to Apply for a Fire Burn Permit Online Citizen Access Portal Fire Department 10/30/2013

This document is intended to assist applicants in the access and use of the new Online Citizen Access Portal at the City of Redding. With the new online portal, there is a user registration process in order to apply for permits online. This document may be updated periodically to provide current information.

Creating a New Account/Logging In

A registered user account is required in order to apply for fire burn permits online.

Step 1: To create a new account, click the “Register” link in the middle/right of the screen, which will direct you to a New User Registration page.

Step 2: Fill out the required information (indicated with a red *). After the form is filled out, click the “Submit” button, and your request will be sent in to City of Redding staff. You will be notified by email when your account has been approved and you are able to log in.

Step 3: To Log into your Citizen Access Portal account, click the “Log On” link on the right side of the screen (next to the “Register” link).

Enter your email and password (setup when you created your account) and click the blue “Log On” button.

Apply/Pay/Print a New Fire Burn Permit

Step 1: To apply for a Fire Burn Permit, first login to your account by entering in your email address in the User Name field, and enter the password you setup when you created your Online Account in the Password field. Step 2: Next, click the “Burn Permits” button on the top menu bar, and click the “Apply” link.

Step 3: Fill out the application with the required information. a. In the Permit Fields section, choose “Fire Open Burn” for Permit Type, and for the Work Class.

b. In the Address Search section, Click New Search.

c. Enter the Street Number and the Street Name for the location that you will be burning. If you are not sure of the spelling of the Street Name, you can put in a partial street name. For example “Cyp” instead of “Cypress”. Click Search to retrieve the address.

d.

If there is one or more address matching your search criteria, a window will be displayed showing all matching addresses. Pick the correct address by clicking the “Select” link next to the correct address.

Step 4: Once the desired address has been chosen, Click Save.

Step 5: Review the permit, then go all the way to the bottom of the page and click Submit. You do not need to enter any Contact or Additional Information.

When your permit is created, continue with Step 5 on Page 8.

Step 5: You will next see a screen that will provide your Burn Permit number, display the fees due, and allow you to pay fees. Review the fees shown before clicking the blue “Pay Fees” button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 6: Enter your credit card information in the fields shown, and click the blue “Process Payment” button at the bottom of the screen. After receiving confirmation of payment made, you can choose to print the receipt and print the permit by clicking the corresponding links below.

View Permits Applied For

Step 1: Log into your account by entering in your email address for your User Name, and enter the password you setup when you created your Citizen Access Portal Account. Step 2: Click on the “Home” button at the top-left of the main menu bar. This will show all Permits and Plans the logged-in user is associated with (even those not applied for online). The Permit or Plan Number hyperlinks can be clicked to obtain more detailed information.

Pay Fees/Print Receipt

If you didn’t pay your fees when you initially applied for a Burn Permit, you can come back in and pay them at a later date (NOTE: You will not be issued a Burn Permit until fees are paid in full). Step 1: Log into your account by entering in your email address for your User Name, and enter the password you setup when you created your Citizen Access Portal Account. Step 2: Click on the “Home” button at the top-left of the main menu bar. This will show all Permits and Plans the logged-in user is associated with (even those not applied for online). The Permit or Plan Number hyperlinks can be clicked to obtain more detailed information. Step 3: Click on the Permit Number associated with the permit you are paying fees for. Step 4: The “Remaining Fees” section provides the fees that are due and payable. Click on the “Pay Fee” link to pay the fees.

Step 5: Review the fees shown before clicking the blue “Pay Fees” button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 6: Enter your credit card information in the fields shown, and click the blue “Process Payment” button at the bottom of the screen. After receiving confirmation of payment made, you can return to the permit and view the fees in the “Fees Paid” section of the permit. Print a receipt by clicking the printer icon next to a paid fee.

Print Permit

Step 1: Log into your account by entering in your email address for your User Name, and enter the password you setup when you created your Citizen Access Portal Account. Step 2: Click on the “Home” button at the top-left of the main menu bar. This will show all Permits and Plans the logged-in user is associated with (even those not applied for online). The Permit or Plan Number hyperlinks can be clicked to obtain more detailed information. Step 3: Click on the Permit Number associated with the permit you want to print. Step 4: In the upper-left side of the screen, click the printer icon to print the Permit.

Step 5: A new pop-up window will launch and will display the Permit. Click the printer icon in the upper-left corner to print your permit.

Change Password

Step 1: Log into your account by entering in your email address for your User ID, and enter the password you setup when you created your Citizen Access Portal Account. Step 2: Click the Manage My Account link next to the Log Off link.

Step 3: If you wish to change your Password, click the Change Password button. You will not change any other information on this screen.

Enter the old and new password, Click Apply.
