GROUP IN NUMBERS

OUR ROOTS: THE HISTORY OF NISA The origins of Nisa Hospitals date back to 1967, when a group of doctors got together to form the Sociedad Clínica Virgen del Consuelo S.A, aiming to fill a gap in the market for private hospital beds and provide a quality service. The company began its activity in 1970.  In 1991, it bought the 100-year old Hospital San Juan de Dios which today, with its completely renovated installations and services, is known as Hospital Nisa Valencia al Mar.  In 1992, the company’s name was changed from Sociedad Clínica Virgen del Consuelo S.A. to the current name Nisa (Nuevas Inversiones en Servicios, S.A.).  In 1993, the opening of the Hospital Nisa 9 de Octubre consolidated the Group as leader in its sector in the Valencia Region and one of the benchmarks for private healthcare in

Spain.  The process continued in 1998 with the incorporation of the Hospital Nisa Aguas Vivas. In 2003, we expanded operations outside the province of Valencia to open the Hospital

Nisa Rey Don Jaime in Castellón.  In 2007 we completed our process of expansion outside the Region and inaugurated the Hospital Nisa Sevilla-Aljafare in Castilleja de la Cuesta and the Hospital Nisa Pardo de

Aravaca in Madrid.  In 2010 we opened our Nisa Vinalopó Brain Damage Centre to attend to brain damage patients from the Alicante and Murcia regions on an outpatient basis.  In 2012 we opened the Nisa San Bernardo Medical Centre in the centre of Seville.

SERVICES HIGHLIGHTS

The qualifications of our team are complemented with an ongoing effort in investment to provide our hospitals with the most up-to-date technology thus offering greater safety. This is evidenced by the fact that, throughout its history, Hospitales Nisa has passed a number of milestones, creating an advantage over other centres in the purchase of the best technology at all times. Nisa 9 de Octubre Hospital is one of the few centres to have 3 Magnetic Resonance machines, 2 CT, 2 PETCT, 1 SPECT-CT, 1 Gamma camera and 1 Haemodynamics room in a single hospital. It also became a Training Centre for Resident Medical Interns (MIR) in Nuclear Medicine.

In Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery Nisa Hospitals were the first to treat valvular heart disease putting valved aortic transcatheter through the cardiac apex. Moreover, Nisa 9 de Octubre Hospital is the only private healthcare center in Spain that possesses all necessary medical equipment to perform laser ablation of atrial fibrillation.

In Nuclear Medicine, we put into operation the first PET (positron emission tomography) unit in Valencia. The subsequent addition of a PET-CT consolidated the leadership of Nisa Hospital in the field of radiology. Currently we are among the few hospitals that have 3 RMN scanner and 2 PET-CT scanners in the same center.

In Radiology, Nisa 9 de Octubre and Nisa Sevilla Aljarafe Hospitals have the first Asir CT Low Dose in Spain and Portugal which emits 40% less radiation.

In Radiosurgery, the prestige and recognition of the lines of therapy and research in our unit at Nisal Virgen del Consuelo Hospital made it a benchmark centre on a worldwide level. In this hospital we have available two linear accelerators with CT incorporated.

Nisa Hospitals is the only European hospital group that has implemented a noninvasive Harmony test. There is no need of sending samples to the US anymore which in addition to a cost savings for the patient may considerably minimize the wait time of the results.

In Telemedicine, we maintain a research and development agreement with the Valencia Polytechnic University in the areas of radiology, cardiology, gynecology and dermatology. In Urology, this centre was a pioneer in the use of the KTP green laser, a treatment which significantly reduces the side effects of prostate surgery. Lithotripsy Unit of Nisa Virgen del Consuelo Hospital is a pioneer in Valencia in the treatment of urolithiasis. The Unit has the following techniques to treat this renal disoder: extracorporeal lithotripsy, intracorporeal lithotripsy (laser), percutaneous lithotripsy. Recently, Nisa Pardo de Aravaca Hospital has acquired a gynecological laser for the treatment of mild to moderate urinary incontinence and mixed urinary incontinence . It is the first device of its kind available in Spain. In Radiation Oncology, we have built a linear accelerator with a 120 micro multi-lamellar collimator. In Neurosurgery, Nisa Nueve de Ocubre Hospital was the first implement the most advanced neuronavigator ever existed. In Nisa Hospitals we are pioneers in Paediatric Telemedicine. Nurseries, schools and parents alike can consult our pediatricians without leaving home, using our Medibaby system.

In the Gastrointestinal Unit, we have 3 eco-endoscopes

The Brain Damage Department at the Hospital Nisa Valencia al Mar one of only three centres in Spain which uses the LOKOMAT robot for patient rehabilitation. The Nisa Aguas Vivas Hospital was the first one in Europe to build a 100m²Automated Flat within the centre so that patients learn to perform everyday tasks with a high degree of independence. Nisa Aguas Vivas Detoxification Unit is the only center in Valencia specialized in detoxification of people with drug addiction problems that offers a model of intensive treatment. Our Mental Health Unit focuses its efforts on rehabilitation and treatment of acute symptoms in adult patients with severe mental disorders that require hospitalization. The Unit is located in Nisa Valencia Al Mar Hospital, which is an ideal place for the recovery and rehabilitation because of its location near the beach. The Unit is remarkable due to its open protected terrace where patients can sunbathe which is essential for health improvement. For Correction of Myopia, Nisa Virgen del Consuelo Hospital in Valencia is the first in the region to have INTRALASE equipment.

In 2014 Nisa Hospitals focused its investment on new advances in cancer diagnosis. New 3D mammography, endoscopic ultrasound, digital dermatology and endobronchial ultrasound equipment helped to find a revolutionary approach to early diagnosis of various tumoral diseases.

Since the outset, in Nisa Hospitals we have always championed doing things the right way and improving them. In 2002 Nisa Hospitals obtained certification for its quality system, in accordance with the UNE EN ISO 9001:1994 standard. In 2008 we made the transition to UNE EN ISO 9001:2008, obtaining certification in compliance with this standard. We are committed to caring for the Environment, which is clear to see in all our waste treatment processes. Since 2006, our environmental management system for Haemodialysis has been in possession of UNE EN ISO 14001:2004 standard certification. We are currently extending this as wide as possible.

NOVA AWARD The Govenment of Valencia recognized Nisa Hospitals with the NOVA Awards to Socio Sanitary Sector in 2006. It is about some awards among a recognizing and spreading the work that enterprises from the Community perform in the opening of new trails to competition and their cooperation for a more efficient economic running.

“BREAKING BARRIERS” AWARD The Service of Brain Injury was awarded in 2008 for its use of the technologies to improve the life quality of disabled communities with the prize “Breaking Barriers” granted by Toshiba Information Systems and B&J Adaptations. More concretely, what was awarded was the setting in motion of the first automated flat for the rehabilitation of patients with acquired brain injury. In the flat, multiple scenes from the real life of a person are recreated and the patients learn to develop daily tasks with a high degree of independence.

EUROPEAN ENTERPRISE AWARD In 2006 Nisa Hospitals received the European Enterprise Award granted by the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia together with the Valencian Confederation of Enterprises.

MASTER AWARD Master Award was granted by Master Barometer Spain to Nisa Hospitals as the best sanitary establishment in the region for its image quality and prestige.

REPUTATION AWARD According to a private healthcare reputation ranking based on multiple opinions of doctors, nurses, patients and reporters published in December 2014 by Merco consulting, Nisa Sevilla Alajarafe Hospital is the most reputable private hospital in the province of Sevilla and the second in Andalusia. Meanwhile, Nisa Virgen del Consuelo Hospital along with Nisa Nueve de Octubre Hospital rank as high as 16 and 18 among nearly 500 private hospitals.

PUBLICITY AWARD The campaign for Cardiovascular prevention launched by Nisa Hospitals and devised by the agency McCann was awarded gold in the Health category on Latin American Festival of Publicity Communication “El Sol 2013”. The Festival is held annually since 1986 to recognize the best publicity works. The campaign headed by Nisa Hospitals is aimed to enhance and preserve cardiovascular health as well as to potentiate the Cardiology services.

COMMUNICATION 2.0 AWARD Nisa Hospitals Brain Injury and Neurorehabilitation Service received the award in the category “Internet Communication” for its activity in social networks and its blog for patients and their families. Loles Navarro, the Service coordinator, and Maria Martinez, community manager attended the Congress of Deputies to collect the award.

NURSERY AWARD The Castellon College of Nursing acknowledged the work of the Nisa Rey Don Jaime Hospital Nursing Service with its Great Golden Badge. The award is aimed to highlight the invaluable health work of Nisa Hospitals in the province of Castellon since 2003". Dr. Roig is a specialist in General Surgery, Gastroenterology and Coloproctology. Dr. Pedro Soto: The head of Nisa Hospitals Prevention Department received the Award for Oral Communication Case Study on the 8th National Congress of Occupational Health Risks Prevention. Dr. Soto focused his research on breast cancer in healthcare workers exposed to ionizing radiation.

Dr. Vicente Vanaclocha: Neurosurgeon at Nisa Nueve de Octubre Hospital Hospital and Chief of Neurosurgery Service of the Valencia University Hospital. Dr. Vanaclocha was awarded by Health 2000 for the contribution into neurosurgery. Dr. Vanaclocha introduced a new surgical technique of blood vessels anastomosis. Additionaly he presented a series of surgery cases of pudendal nerve entrapment. Healthcare Award 2000 recognized the quality of the healthcare in Valencia across 16 categories. Dr. Augusto Zafra: Dr. Zafra who is a specialist in psychiatry combines his public activity in Valencia Healthcare Agency with teaching and private practice in neuroscience as a psychiatrist. The Valencian Institute of Neuroaddictions and Dual Pathology located in Nisa Aguas Vivas Hospital, (IVANE) directed by Dr. Zafra is the only private detoxification center in Valencia.

Raquel Calero: Nisa Hospital psychologist Sevilla-Aljarafe in 2014 received an award for being the second most valued psychologist in Spain, according to the doctoralia.es portal. The Doctoralia Awards are the awards that recognize the work of health professionals from seventeen different specialties in Spain. Calero Raquel Dominguez works in Hospital Nisa Sevilla-Aljarafe as general health psychologist, particularly as psycho-oncologist in the Breast Pathology Unit.

NISA VIRGEN DEL CONSUELO HOSPITAL This is where it all began. Right in the heart of Valencia, this Hospital was a pioneer in implementing a health system which allowed patients to choose their doctor and gave the doctor the full infrastructure to carry out his or her work. It was a pioneer in offering a private Emergencies service in Valencia back in 1970. In 2010 these services were completely overhauled and the technology updated to offer a first class service with the greatest efficiency, speed and safety. Today it is a general hospital with all the specialities. It has one of the leading Radiation Oncology services in Spain. We have recently opened an Assisted Conception Hospital Unit and another Ophthalmology Unit at this centre.

NISA VALENCIA AL MAR HOSPITAL Valencia al Mar Hospital merges tradition and modernity in an emblematic modernist building of historical importance (declared Historical-artistic patrimony) and located in the Maritime District. A particularly notable feature of the Hospital Valencia al Mar is its Brain Damage Department, a benchmark for excellence in Europe. It caters for the need for personalised, complete and multidisciplinary rehabilitation of patients who have suffered craneoencephalic trauma. It also has LOKOMAT, a robot to recuperate patient mobility. There are only three such units in Spain. The Nisa 9 de Octubre Hospital embraces all the medical and surgical specialties and has at its disposal a vanguard technology to attend the needs in each of them. NISA AGUAS VIVAS HOSPITAL NISA Aguas Vivas Hospital is located in the quiet scenery of the Aguas Vivas Valley, an exceptional area. It is equipped to cover the main medical and surgical specialties. Its Brain Injury Unit has a pool and the first automated floor in a European hospital. Recently, this centre has opened a Detoxification Unit.

NISA SEVILLA ALJARAFE HOSPITAL This centre is just 6 kilometres from the city of Seville, in a town called Castilleja de la Cuesta. It is a general hospital catering for all medical and surgical specialities. It has the most advanced technology to provide the utmost safety for doctors and patients alike, in addition to an experienced and efficient medical team. The Mother and Baby Unit is notable for its high resolution ultrasound for prenatal diagnosis. The Sevilla centre also has a benchmark Pediatric and Neonatal Unit (ICU). It has the only Low Dose CT scanner in Andalusia. Also, its Multidisciplinary Unit for Severe Obesity is the only one in Western Andalusia.

NISA PARDO DE ARAVACA HOSPITAL Located at Exit 10 of the A6 motorway in Madrid, Hospital Nisa Pardo de Aravaca was designed to provide integrated medical healthcare in an area with a population of some 1.5 million people. It is designed to deal with all medical and surgical needs, and has the most up-to-date technology. It has a large car park to facilitate access to the centre. It is noted for its large and modern operating theatres and its Pediatric and Adult ICUs and its Heart units. Conditions such as Celiac disease, telemedicine, problems with the spinal cord, cervix and smoking can be treated in these facilities. Also noteworthy are its Imaging Unit and its Emergency Services.

NISA VINALOPO BRAIN INJURY CENTRE This is an offshoot of the Hospital Nisa Aguas Vivas and is the first specialised centre to be opened by Hospitals Nisa. Thanks to its location in Elche, it provides outpatient coverage for patients from the southern part of the Valencia Region and Murcia. The centre offers the following healthcare: general medicine, nursing, neurology, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and clinical psychology. The centre has the capacity to attend up to 150 outpatients, four cognitive classrooms, an occupational classroom and a gymnasium.

NISA SAN BERNARDO MEDICAL CENTRE In 2011 the Nisa San Bernardo Medical Centre was opened in the heart of Seville. It is a centre with an area of almost 400 square metres, designed to make it easier for the hospital’s patients to carry out different administrative tasks, such as picking up diagnostic test results or delivering authorisations. It also operates as a specialities centre, giving Nisa patients the option of attending the Hospital Nisa Sevilla Aljarafe or these new Nisa installations in the city centre for their diagnostic tests.

If you want to contact Nisa hospitals in order to schedule a visit to the doctor, diagnosis, treatment or for any other inquiries, please contact us by phone, email or through on-line contact form that you can find on our website.

 Translation, interpretation and guidance

Upon your request, the staff of the International Department will contact you for the details of your medical history, diagnosis and previous treatments. Possibly, we will ask you to send us by email images of diagnostic tests, discharge reports, results of clinical analysis and other supplementary material, which will be used by our experts to evaluate you clinical case.

After you case has been evaluated, we will send you a budget for diagnosis and treatment accompanied by a detailed explanation. The International Department coordinators will respond to you questions concerning the information about the hospital, specialist and the treatment program. The dates of visits and hospitalization will be arranged with the hospital or directly with the specialist. On patient’s request, the International Department will provide translation services and support throughout your whole stay in the hospital.

Nisa Hospitals offers a wide range of medical services, providing the patient with comprehensive care always taking into consideration his/her individual needs. The International Department coordinators select a specialist individually depending on each case, prepare and organize the medical program provide estimates of the costs of treatment, issues an invitation for visa formalities and provide the customer with all necessary support before, during and after his/her stay in the hospital.

We always select the interpreters based on the individual patient characteristics. All our translators are extremely responsible and professional, able to support the patient in a difficult situation and solve problems quickly and efficiently. If needed, the International Patient Department will provide you a letter of invitation needed for obtaining a valid entering visa.

During hospitalization or visit to the doctor, the patient will have an individually selected professional translator. Upon patient’s request, the International Department will organize a shuttle or ambulance in cases that require reanimation. If the patient comes for treatment in severe health conditions, our staff will organize an emergency ambulance service from airport to the hospital. At the airport the patient will be attended by a team of doctors ready to apply resuscitation protocols at any time when needed.

We know how important the support during treatment is, especially when one is outside his or her home country. In the case of chronic diseases, we are in change of helping the patient to maintain constant communication with the doctor and to arrange follow-up visits and tests. We maintain contact and friendly relations with our patients, even after completion of their stay in the hospital
